Where is UBA getting more than ₦300 billion foreign currency revaluation loss from at a time naira is relatively stable and I do not see a huge foreign currency position on the balance sheet. Back this out or if you position that this will not repeat going forward, then the first quarter result is fantastic.
My thinking is that is coming from subsidiaries from outside nigeria. There shld be translation loss from the assets of the subs considering the naira moved within the last one year 1450-1600 last year to 1300-1400 this year. That is moving from the reporting currencies of the subs to naira. My thinking i might be wrong tho.

Sir, even in a private estate I live here in Lagos, Solar Panels are not allowed, not sure why though, but this is the estate rule, if you are not comfortable with it, you have to move out, simple.
Tenants will put solar panels and when leaving in the process of removing the panels will destroy your roof. After all they won’t be there to clean up the mess. I for one will not allow anyone put solar panels on my property if you must we agree to amortise and it becomes mine, if you leave before the cost is extinguished will continue to pay you as long as the premises is occupied.

If your private estate says no solar panels allowed, it most likely means they provide alternative power! Wrong or right?
What about government just living up to its responsibility instead of multi taxing people to hellhuh

Mankind2024:
The Aba Independent Power Plant is fully privately owned, with significant backing from the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN). As of now, the Abia State Government has not acquired any equity stake in the project.
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has taken a central, proactive role in transforming the state’s energy sector, aimed at achieving full independence from the national grid. His administration focuses on leveraging private-sector investments, enhancing infrastructure, and establishing a robust regulatory framework to deliver 24/7 power to businesses and residents, particularly in the industrial hub of Aba.
Key aspects of Governor Otti's role in the independent power project include:
Support for Geometric Power Ltd (Aba): Governor Otti has strongly backed the 141MW/188MW Geometric Power Project in Alaoji, Aba. His administration intervened in crucial gas supply negotiations with the NNPC to ensure the plant's operational success.
Expansion to Umuahia and Other Areas: The Governor initiated plans to wheel excess power (80-88MW) from the Geometric Plant to Umuahia, the state capital, and has spearheaded moves to acquire the EEDC (Enugu Electricity Distribution Company) stake in the Umuahia zone to provide electricity to the remaining eight local government areas not currently served by Geometric.
Legislative and Regulatory Action: Otti signed the Abia State Electricity Bill into law in March 2025, which provides the legal framework for the state to regulate its own electricity market. This law established the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Authority (ASERA).
Renewable Energy and Mini-Grids: The governor has championed green energy, including the approval of a 10MW Independent Power Project for the Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, to tackle long-standing power challenges in the institution and surrounding communities.
Waste-to-Energy Projects: His administration is investing in waste-to-wealth initiatives that convert organic waste into electricity to diversify the energy mix.
Infrastructure Groundbreaking: In December 2025, Governor Otti performed the groundbreaking for new 33kV and 11kV lines, injection substations, and distribution infrastructure in Umuahia, with plans for further capacity increases in the 2026 budget.
Through these actions, Governor Otti aims to detach Abia from the national grid, mitigate frequent power outages, and boost industrialization, effectively positioning the state as a leader in Nigeria's decentralized power sector.

Abia State is set to disconnect from the national grid once a 125-megawatt gas turbine is added to Geometric Power, Aba, which currently has 141 megawatts capacity.

Governor Alex Otti announced this at a media chat, citing efforts to generate, transmit and distribute the state’s own power.

The new gas turbine would boost Geometric Power’s capacity to 266 megawatts, enough to also supply power to Umuahia and environs, with excess power for sale.

Eight local governments in the Aba ring-fence area have detached from the national grid with Geometric Power’s operation and the state is concetratingefforts on providing independent power for the remaining eight local governments so as to detach them from the national grid.

Otti also announced that Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), would also disconnect from the national grid upon completino of a 15-megawatt independent power project.

The Governor had earlier that day restored power to ABSU after 13 years of darkness by inaugurating a 5-megawatt substation.

He revealed that the 15 megawatts independent power station was a proposed bigger solution to the nagging power problem in ABSU and environs

The funny thing is it might not be as bad as people expected. The market has a way of surprising people.

However, I can't help but wonder if Tony had released this result when people could still key into GTBank and Zenith dividend payments. That could have been a totally different story, but I guess Tony pays attention to the little details. cheesy

I can't be everywhere. Sold Seplat at around N7000 to buy Aradel.

Seplat is fond of giving shares to the workers thereby increasing the outstanding shares on an annual basis

I prefer a situation whereby the workers are paid very well and interested worker can use their salaries to buy the company's shares
I see. Thanks for the insight sir.

Sadly, the government haven't earned the trust of Nigerians.
