Na lie. Nothing is priced in.

The wages of Sin is death according to the holy book.

The wages of dividend non payment according to investment manual is dumping during the subsequent trading period.

We no go gree.
Punishment dey must chop. And chop in abundance.

We are even talking of Access that is a disabled stock compared to it's contemporaries.

Big for nothing....

I wish to clarify that I am not OGG.
I was one of the earlier users on this platform, operating under a different moniker at the time. Along with others, I held the view that this space should remain a free and open forum, one where we could all unwind, share honest market analysis, and exchange sentiments without commercial pressures.
It was following a strongly worded contribution I made (which some likened to a “GB54-style bunker buster”) that OGG gradually stepped back from the thread. With the benefit of hindsight, I regret the tone and impact of that intervention. I extend my sincere apology to him, wherever he may be. I have no doubt that he is doing very well and continues to sit comfortably on a substantial portfolio.
This platform has since evolved into the valuable, tension-relieving, and insightful community we all enjoy today, and I’m grateful for its continued existence in its current form.

Only OGG writes as constructive and sweet as you do. My wild guess is this is OGG

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by BabsO2(m): 1:53pm On May 02
Look at how ETI and ACCESS stated their Q1. UBA needs no correction as they are not entangled with any Tier 1 USD equity instrument. I have not looked at WEMA, but the last I recall they have no dollar equity instrument patch.

aj8:
Good Saturday morning BabsO2, Wema is probably the only Bank spelling it out in their weighted average. You can do the maths for UBA and ETI and kindly reflect it here if it differs. I did the maths, but willing to take corrections if they differ. At least we are stimulating discussions to improve our stock picks. Iron sharpenth iron.
ETI Q1
Profit after tax 197,528
Attributable to:
Ordinary shareholders 128,336
Other equity instrument holder 5,066
Non-controlling interests 64,125

ACCESS Q1
Profit attributable to:
Equity holders of the parent entity 200,526
Non-controlling interest 38f 16,011
Profit for the period 216,537

Access lumped up what ordinary shareholders are entitled to with what Tier 1 equity instrument holders are entitled to together and labeled it as Equity holders of parent entity. This will cause erroneous overstatement of EPS of shareholders. The Tier 1 equity bond ($500m) holders are intitled to an interest payment of 9.125% per annum. A more accurate EPS estimate should deduct 500*1450*0.09125/4 = NGN 16,539m from the Q1 profit before computing a more accurate earnings per of (200526-16539)/53317.838433 = NGN 3.45 For your PE of 5 common sense estimate Access Valuation becomes. 3.45*4*5=69. Because of too much uncertainty on the health of their acquisitions don't think they deserve the same PE as UBA.

So corrected EPS for Shareholders for ACCESS Q1 = N3.45
Your PE of 5 estimate for Access should value it at N69
But Access deserves a fair of PE of 4 if other banks are 5 grin that is common Sence value of 55.2 grin

@alfajohn
Thank you for your comment, but I believe there’s no need to escalate the matter.
Everyone here enjoys the same right to privacy and anonymity on this faceless forum. I’m a free citizen of Nigeria with nothing to hide, but I choose to remain faceless for personal reasons, primarily because of the unpredictable nature of people and the unfortunate prevalence of malice in our world today.
For the record, I frequently delete monikers and deliberately deleted the email associated with this one, no traces nor do i know the email ID again.
My online interactions are also routed through an added security. These are simply precautionary steps I take for my own peace of mind.
I have no interest in trading threats with you. Let’s keep this space civil. I’m here simply to unwind, share genuine experiences, and hopefully inspire at least one person toward financial independence, nothing more.
Wishing you well.

You are quite observant. I thought I was the only one seeing this. Since, they know that no dividend would be paid, they find a way of mopping up the shares. You that don't know their gimmick would think that something is about to happen because of quantity you see that is involved. As quantity traded soars higher, price is bound to move. That was why Access that had been stagnant for a while gained N1 to close at N27. This is called market makers/ market movers( i hope i got that correctly MM, whatever). Just like Megawealth01 would say and I quote: "The game is game"

Nothing will save Access from losing 10% on Monday. No matter the debate here. But, i may not be certain for Tuesday. This banks are just taken one for granted. It is high time i divest my holding into manufacturing, pharmaceutical, industrial, food & beverages, telecommunications and the agricultural sectors. Enough is enough.

I still remain a dividend investor.

Whr is oando results. I am interested in the q1 results

Based on street sense. I need to add to my oando holdings. Seplat and aradel can't be on this all time high and onado has remained at one spot
Sugar has turned the corner so it is only oando that is remaining to do same in my portfolio

I noticed zenith holding showing on the AGM link is less than what I have? How do I rectify this

Akanmbi:
Good pm guys. Is there a possibility for the Registrar to understate one’s holdings. I held over 10,000units of Zenith Bank shares before QD. However, while filling the AGM link sent by VERITAS Registrars today, I saw 8,343 units as holdings. Do I need to send a mail to address this?

I didn't say that o.
In fact, how can I say that when I have 35 companies in my portfolio and still counting. The best I can do for the one I don't fancy any more is just leave it there, while I accumulate the favoured ones. cool

Lesson learnt: Diversification is the order of the day.

For the newcomers in the house: Please repost the audiobooks and any other materials that could help us catch up.

aj8:
Congratulations Mankind2024. May your expressed ambition and many more not yet expressed, come to pass by His Grace. I just want to add a point or two to your very well-written reflection.
Compounding is good, the 8th wonder of the world. But it doesn’t always need to be passive, it can be active or even aggressive. In trading, the phrase 'take profit off the table' exists for a reason: trends can reverse instantly when economic momentum shifts. While some markets recover quickly, others take decades. A stock falling from 100 to 4 might eventually return to 200, but only if time is on your side. While there are 'forever' stocks where I’m happy to stay in the passenger seat, I believe in remaining vigilant. If the fundamentals or prospects decline, I prefer to exit without sentiment and pivot to fresh opportunities with higher growth potential. Compounding continues but actively leaving only my failed attempts to run passively but still given fuel by prayers and hope.

Happy Workers Day

I can't thank you enough for those audiobooks you share from time to time. Thank you, sir.
