It's interesting how we just find excuses for inefficiency. So because we have a huge population is the reason we cannot increase our production. It is the reason we cannot manage what we are producing and our resources effectively. One would think our population should be an advantage, the Chinese are more populous than us but again you would argue that their system is different and call it a wrong comparison as well. Let's keep praising ourselves indulging in our mediocrity
Not making excuses but it irks me when people compare Nigeria’s oil to that of the Middle East. The cost of our oil production was up to $40 for a long time in most cases, while what is prevalent in the gulf region is $10 -$15. The reasons are not far fetched. Aside from security paid for in the Niger Delta, the main reason for this high cost is the type of land/soil producing the crude. It is easier to produce crude oil in the gulf region than the Niger Delta hence the high cost of production.
This means Saudi Arabia and UAE can increase production quicker than Nigeria can with same investments.
Add the small population and style of Governance and you see that it’s not comparable.
These are not excuses nor does it excuse the waste of our leaders but it’s always good for us to get the facts so we can address the real issues rather than some needless comparisons which may not apply.

For Nigeria to be a better place, it has to be run like individual companies by both the leaders and the followers. Patriotism was the order of they then, nobody celebrate thief but today, stealing are called embezzlement to reduce the severity of the behavior, they give them chieftancy titles after stealing public funds today.

Today, in my view, we don't have any qualified candidates among the known people looking for the position. They are all crook with the same ideologies.

The highlighted is what gives comfortable life. You are a tax payer, the resources of the country is owned by you and I, those resources should serve you and I.

There are people who understands the system and use it to be prosperous but there are also people who don't have that privilege but that does not mean they should not have access to basic things that make them comfortable such as good education, security, water and transportation. How much of that is available to the population without strings attached.
On point.
Ignorant once shouldn't be disenfranchised from their social right.

It won’t!!! And may likely drag UBA a bit down. Except if there is a news of dividend.
Investors are jumping out to put their money to good use.
I’m buying more UBA @40 and below. A better way to average the RI I picked

You have to look at the revenue and earnings growth rate.
It is very impressive and it is a stock that still have a lot of room to grow.

Where did you get your 37,333,619,972?

These are BEER PARLOUR arguments that have NO business in a thread like this.

Gaddafi's Libya had a population of less than 3 Million at the start of his reign (over 95% of Nigerian states have more than that).

At the end of his reign, the population was about 6 Million (Nearly 50% or around 17 states have more people than that).

Yet Libya has MORE oil than Nigeria.

The UAE has 10.88 Million people with 300% of Nigeria's oil reserves.
UAE is using 3X the oil resources of Nigeria to take care of 5% of the population of Nigeria.

Plus, these countries are both DICTATORSHIPS with Leaders who CANNOT be challenged.

They've had leaders who can pursue their VISIONS single-mindedly and take as long as NECESSARY to execute it.

They did NOT have to deal with a CHAIN of politicians with their own unique and DIVERGING solutions to the problems of their countries.

ONE person with UNQUESTIONABLE authority given enough time and RESOURCES can achieve WONDERFUL things.

UNIFORMITY of purpose and CONTINUITY of execution is not a joke.

Nigeria on the other hand have had to DEAL with DIFFERENT people in leadership with their own blend of leadership.
With people who ABANDON what the previous leader started to start their OWN thing so they can be KNOWN for that.

Point is:

There is ZERO parallel between Nigeria and those countries you mentioned.

They are both RICHER than Nigeria in terms of oil and far SMALLER in terms of population.

Understanding why their situation is/was different (or BETTER) is common sense.
Continuity you sayhuh if this is the basic ingredient for progress, then Paul Biya comes to mind , not to mention his other African contemporaries that have held power over 2 decades minimum.

Do we really have in surplus though? Industry capacity utilization is about 50-60% at best.
You're corroborating the statement of surplus with this stat.

If there's underutilization, it simply means there's excess capacity barring any mechanical limitations.

They won't grind more stones than there's demand for ba.

Plus a significant portion of the clinkers ground are for exports.

215.79

258 - 6.25 = 251.75 ---------> you deduct dividend before making provision for the bonus shares
251.75/7 = 35.96
35.96 + 6.25 = 42.21
258 - 42.21 = 215.79
If the bonus is 1 for 7, then the 8 new shares at the new price must be worth exzactly thesame as the 7 shares at the old price.

251.75*7/8 should be 220.28.

The ceiling of 220.3 will be taken due to the 0.10 pricing step.

In the short term, you have a point of taking some profits off the table but for those who want to wait it out for like 2-5 years, i think the growth rate is encouraging and impressive. There is still more room for capital appreciation

You went from comparing Nigeria with an unproductive (just like Nigeria's) economy that share proceeds of natural resources exploitation to a very small population to a productive economy that paid the price of its past economic sins over a generation. Are Nigerians ready to pay the price the Chinese paid before they get to where they are today?

So Ecobank is in the SAME situation as UBA and Access YET Ecobank will still pay dividends.

Ecobank's provision is DOUBLE that of Access and NEARLY double that of UBA and Ecobank will still pay dividends.

Interesting!

Also, pray for AccessCorp today.

I have informed you earlier that the total shares after the capital raise that ou are using is not correct.
There was oversubscription and that portion was allotted by way of resolution to do a private placement in the AGM last week.
It will be a total OS 2,105,000,000 units

Price will not be adjusted na.
It is not bonus issues.
You won't see TIP around N18 again. Selling now and expecting to buy back around N18 is like one thinking there will be price adjustment from a bonus issue

Remember NB rights issue was around N26K or so 18 months ago.

What is it today?
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Sunrisepebble: 7:49am On May 04
Are you sure. I thought shares were adjusted if additional shares are created. It’s a dilution. For NB it would have. It would depend on the new shares issued to determine the adjustment.
I can’t say for sure sha. It’s why I’m asking
