Maybe Nigeria should just learn to forget all these stories of helping black south Africa because the South Africans have since moved on from that.

Even though we once helped them in the past, Black South Africans can no longer be viewed at as friends because they clearly see Nigerians as their enemies and will go out of their way to seriously hurt Nigerians

If it were to be the other way round, will South Africans forget? That will even be more reason for them to be xenophobic to their fellow Africans.

How many immigrants killed so far?
Why should any be killed or molested in any way? This is very wrong. You black South Africans have a fundamental problem you are not dealing with and that is a lack of healing from the years of apartheid rule.
You are too hateful of yourselves and anyone that remotely looks like you and this is what presents itself regularly as xeno/apfrophobia.
Chasing foreigners away from your country will not magically solve your problems rather it's going to create new and even bigger ones because after you are done with fighting Africans in your midst, you will surely turn on yourselves as we witnessed right after apartheid.
You need to reeducate yourselves on who your real enemies are. Right now you are making enemies of your brothers and who knows peradventure you need their help tomorrow do you think you can get it with the madness currently going on in your country?

I can't believe this is same South Africa is the same country we all were very proud of, back in the days. The same country we would do anything to liberate from oppression, by all means necessary.

But this present bunch of black South Africans are an ungrateful bunch of people; very ungrateful, lazy, jealous and entitled. The way they mistreat Nigerians and other African Nationals is very worrisome, and calls for serious concern. Maybe, Nigeria and other decent African countries should have left them to wallow in their apartheid woes. 😎

Abeg forget all this long story....

The people of South Africa are ungrateful bunch of people...

For all we did for them, look at how they are treating Nigerian in their country....

Lessons have been learnt...

Next time, we are not helping anybody.

Your post makes no sense except you are just trying to troll.

1) Nnamdi Azikiwe had no hand in organising the event. The chairman of the organising committee was Professor Nurudeen Alao, who was also the vice chancellor of the University of Lagos.

2) Sonny Okosuns and Christy Essien Igbokwe were not Igbos.
Broda Naptu2, you think a VC has a say over a Governor general?

This man, try and read the post!

Nnamdi Azikiwe was governor-general from 1960 - 1963. Nelson Mandela visited Nigeria in 1990!

Zik was not in government and had nothing to do with the ceremonies.

The only reason he was mentioned was because Zik helped Mandela in 1962 when he was governor-general and before Mandela went to prison, so Mandela used the opportunity of the visit to go and thank Zik for the help that he gave him almost 30 years earlier.

Do you know Nigerian history? Was Zik in Government in 1990? How long was Mandela in jail? Were Christy Essien Igbokwe and Sonny Okosuns Igbo?

All these things are easy, I shouldn't have to be explaining them.

The present generation of SA have abandoned and ignored Mandela saying he's no longer seen as their national hero.

1990

Fighting between Xhosas of the African National Congress (ANC) of Nelson Mandela and Zulus of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) of Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi (a prince and traditional prime minister of Zululand).

The fighting erupted quite often between 1990 and 1994.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbPIQaiu6Xk?si=qcXUEArLNVkYTseP
the crisis was instigated by some disgruntled apartheid members, to make SA ANC ungovernable, some white officers were caught painting themselves black paint on their skin and purposely instigating the riots they just couldn't see or stand SA being ruled or controlled by a black person.

I am embarrassed when I see you call your white colonizers who never left South Africans and label even your cousins living close to you like Setsothos, Botswanans, Swazis, and Zimbabwean, as foreigners . Isn't it a shame you still hold onto the boarders drawn by your white lords?

I saw videos of at least two mercilessly beaten and killed. I saw children being chased out of schools for being foreigners. I saw people being chased out of hospitals for being foreigners. How do you explain that?

Chasing people out of schools and hospitals is regarded as killing them? And why the fúck should I be explaining when that was not the arguement we were having? You are just trying to find something that sticks and it's not working.

Historically, the Zulus have been known to be a strong war nation state.

Today, they are the largest ethnic group in SA.

As far back as the days of King Shaka, they have maintained a reputation for been deeply territorial.

Shaka aggressively conquered and annexed several neighbouring communities, uniting them into an empire using a well-organized military.

Today, you see "protesters" decked in traditional military attire and armed with traditional war implements which in my view instigates violence in what should ordinarily be peaceful protests.
hmmmm. For I all their strength I wonder what role they played during the apartheid era.

Divide and rule politics of the colonialists. You think they don't know what is happening in Africa? They know more than you.
They are always busy sipping champagne, while supplying guns and weapons for Africans to kill themselves.
That's why Trump said the only things Africans know how to do is to procreate and kill themselves.
In every generation, the story is always the same.

Nigeria contributed a lot to the southern African liberation movements.

In Angola Nigeria donated a lot of money and military equipment (including MiG 17 fighter jets) to the MPLA.

The MPLA, which was recognised as the government of Angola by the African Union, was fighting against UNITA, which was supported by the racist government of South Africa and the United States.

The MPLA also received support from the Soviet Union and Cuba. Cuban troops fought alongside the MPLA and there were unconfirmed reports that there was a secret unit of Nigerian soldiers also fighting alongside the MPLA. South Africa invaded Angola in support of UNITA.

This is why the Angolan Government had an event to mark the 50th anniversary of the assasination of Murtala Muhammed earlier this year. Members of Murtala's family and Nigerian government officials were in Luanda for the ceremony.
I remember Agostinho Neto visiting Unilag with our military rulers then for an honorary award. We were all so thrilled. The war against apartheid was taken so seriously and Nigeria worked with every leader who was ready to fight the oppressors.

Saying that Nigeria supported South Africa in the past is not enough reasons for Nigerians to live in their country undocumented. An undocumented person can commit crimes and nobody can easily trail and arrest him.

On the other hand, it's totally wrong for South Africans to ask Nigerians who have the legit papers to live in their country to go home. If they insist on sending them back home, we will convert MTN Nigeria to a Nigerian company and I will become the new CEO/founder grin
Shut up. Stop saying what you don’t know there are so many documented for next year, including Pakistani and Bangladesh… stop sounding as if it’s all in Nigeria that live here undocumented…. how many undocumented West Africa are in Nigeria are they been disturbed?

That shows exactly what the problem is.

Some South Africans complain about crime, but if that's the case, then the police should arrest the criminals and prosecute them. The problem is that you have all kinds of mobs that invade people's premises and threaten them, including the premises of innocent people.

Again some South Africans say that the problem is the criminals and illegal aliens, but you can see this guy saying that he doesn't care if people have their papers or not.

Idah Peterside is a well known person, he played for clubs in the Nigerian and South African leagues, he settled in South Africa when he retired, he is an analyst on Supersport and a pastor who had his own church, everybody knows that he's not a criminal, yet the mob invaded his church and threatened him. It was so bad that he had to return to Nigeria. He now lives in Port-Harcourt. How is that justifiable?

This report says that generally (I guess that includes xenophobic attacks), at least 2 people are killed per day though mob justice, on the average.

In a number of these cases, innocent people lose their lives.

The failure of the criminal justice system also fuels mob justice.

So because of how we helped them end apartheid, we should go and misbehave there.
