I agree with your a hundred percent but here's the truth most Nigerians invest and go to sleep. However I am of a different opinion that Alhaji refinery would do wonder (wouldn't go below the IPO) specifically because of the institutional investors.
Walahi I don't believe. I will surely buy that refinery shares cheaper than the ipo price. It will be matter of time and what will trigger it. I am never discouraging anymore from buying pls oh.For me na after listing be my on target for cheaper price and quantity...my own investment target as I am not a trader .
On a different note again,Alhaji been wan run us street on dangota food so I believe the ipo will definitely be over priced. As I feel part of the reason of this ipo is protection from all this different attacks by government and her cabal. And never because he wants to share the loot from the refinery for love of naija people

A lot of long-term investors are thinking the same way — that patience after listing may present better entry opportunities than rushing the IPO hype. In many markets, especially when sentiment is heavily emotional and demand is oversubscribed, post-listing price discovery can create cheaper entry points for investors focused on value rather than short-term trading.

On Dangote Foods and the refinery conversation, the skepticism is also understandable. Investors naturally question valuation when a company has huge public attention, strong political relevance, and dominant market influence. Large IPOs are often priced with optimism already baked in, especially when the brand name alone can attract retail demand.

That said, it’s also important to separate emotion from fundamentals. The refinery remains a strategic asset with strong long-term economic importance to Nigeria, regardless of the politics surrounding it. Whether the IPO ends up overvalued or undervalued will eventually be determined by earnings, cash flow, debt structure, operational efficiency, and how the market prices future growth after the excitement settles.

Your approach actually sounds more like disciplined investing than speculation — waiting for market reality after listing, monitoring liquidity, and accumulating gradually if valuation becomes attractive. In the long run, price discipline usually matters more than joining early hype.

I am optimistic that DANGREFINE will defy market logic.
Especially if the rumors of the listing of the refinery and petrochemicals unit as one entity is true.

We await details of the offer smiley

Many investors are still trapped in analysis paralysis, one of the most common reasons retail investors miss out on major opportunities.

The NGX of today is very different from the NGX of 2010. The market has evolved significantly in depth, regulation, and participation.

The Dangote Refinery is not just another Nigerian project. It is fast becoming a strategic West African asset with strong regional export potential. While the offer may be oversubscribed, that speaks more to its perceived long-term value than to short-term hype.

Yes, it is possible the stock could trade at a discount to its listing price initially. We’ve seen this before, Transcorp Power (Transpower), for example, is currently trading around ₦245 after consistently closing near ₦270.
I subscribed during the initial offer and am now building gradually towards 100,000 units with an average cost of ₦248.

Trying to perfectly time the market through endless analysis is often the fastest route to ROMO(Regret of Missing Out).
Once listed, the Dangote Refinery share price will be driven by market forces. Some investors will trade it actively, others will sell out of impatience, while some will liquidate due to unforeseen personal needs.
As for me, I’m buying this for the future of my children. I’ve kept dry powder in a money market account and will soon rebalance my portfolio to increase my position. If the price dips significantly after listing, I’m fully prepared to average down.

Some investors are in for capital appreciation; they don't really care about dividends. In their defence, dem don dey try small small, N2 in 2025 ( 40k interim and N1.6 final ) is not really bad, it's better than nothing

From the charts, if Transcorp can break out above 55 naira with good volume, then your target of 100 and above is possible in the short term. But if not, we will buy it again at 40. lipsrsealed

No problem. When it reaches N70 the narrative will change.

Did anyone notice that Cardinal Stone gave a buy recommendation to Access Bank? Target price N50.

So I ask once again, did you buy some Access today?

True. It's either absolute break-out or return back to the base. Either way, smart money will still cash out.

I have learnt one or two things about reading the chart. I don't rely on it for discovering opportunities but I use it as confirmation to enter.

Last last the only strategy that works is one that makes money

Did I say Transcorp wouldn't move? No. I said that, based on charts, the time to buy was at 40. The alternative entry is if we see 55 broken with force; this is the implicit risk mitigation built right into the chart itself. Anybody can claim they are making money.

I just smile at those who are interested but decide to ignore the IPO and wait to buy the shares cheaper after listing. It won't happen.
This is an export-oriented refinery, one of the largest in the world, a pseudo-monopoly situated in a free trade zone, earning and proposing dividends in hard currencies. And Alhaji has a habit of paying dividends starting from the first year. So imagine dollar dividends being paid for FY2026!
This is different from the Food & Beverage, Cement or other sectors that have so several competitors and earnings are mostly in naira.
Already, govt agencies are relaxing their rules so that PFCs can buy the IPO in billions and trillions of naira!
Who go sell am for you to buy it cheap after the IPO?
