As African Democracy is brewing in Nigerian pot, and the battle is being set in array, we now have : Goodluck Jonathan for Turaki PDP. Atiku Abubakar for ADC . Jagaban for APC . Sandy Onor for Wike-Jagaban PDP and Peter Obi for NDC. Whether election, selection or eviction, the exercise will come and go, and Naija will remain. |

megawealth01:This is my fear: Unfortunately kidnapping has become normal in Nigerian society and in order to get more attention kidnappers need to "shock" the society. Had they not beheaded the teacher this incident would not have captured the imagination of the country the way it has. What really scares me is that these kidnappers or the next set of kidnappers should not then go ahead and behead a child or do something even more despicable . To be honest typing what I just typed made my feel somehow but it is the trajectory that we are on. |

Insecurity is still not being tackled as expected by this Government and there are lot of things I don’t like about this Government as well. Their NGX market record however is not bad.

I usually avoid commenting on government matters because such conversations are often misunderstood or unnecessarily politicized. However, there comes a point when conscience demands that we ask difficult questions. Where is Nigeria's government in moments like these? Can the security of lives and the protection of innocent citizens become secondary concerns? Must political calculations for 2027 take precedence over the safety and well-being of Nigerians today? The first duty of leadership is not politics, campaigns, or elections. It is the protection of lives and property. A nation is strongest when its people feel safe, valued, and protected. This is not about politics. It is about humanity. It is about responsibility. It is about the lives of fellow Nigerians |

GeneralDae:That less than 1 million people who majority won't be voting in 2027 As many in that class will say they don't have time to waste voting. The 63% hungry and poor will be the ones likely to do the voting in 2023.And many of them don't even know what ngx means |

Streetinvestor2:But politics aside, that growth from 68000 retail accounts to 927000 is astronomical. This means the market have become way way more liquid than in 2023. What is responsible for this? Could it be the inflation pushed young people to explore the market as a way of preserving and boosting capital? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 6:27pm On May 30 |
GeneralDae:where did you see 937k? I believe it’s around 600k active accounts. Over the last year or two, I believe Bamboo onboarded more than 120k (I saw it somewhere). By the time Dangote IPO is done, I believe another 200k will join just based on the hype. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 7:10pm On May 30 |
deathwing:The data from BusinessDayNG clearly shows 937k retail accounts. Either they are wrong or the 600k data is outdated already Or (more likely) the 600k are the active accounts out of the 937k. I would check. Edit: It seems the data is correct. 937k new accounts compared to 68k new accounts in 2023. So total accounts could be over a million already but there were 937k new accounts. 600k new accounts gained due to bank recapitalisation only. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by megawealth01: 7:13pm On May 30 |
A vast new entrant into NGX joined stockmarket so they can escape the economic situation of Nigeria. The pains NAIJA is bearing under this regime is visible on the street of the masses... I just hope what happened in 2008 don't happen sha |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GeneralDae: 7:21pm On May 30 |
megawealth01:My Chatgpt said it was majorly due to bank recapitalisation. That and your point may have been the major factors. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 7:25pm On May 30 |
Oh I see, nice. This 600k was as at last early last year o when I joined NGx. I recall it was said by the NGX people themselves. 300k+ more in a few months is pretty great. Hopefully the country gets better and it ramps up. I would be happy to see 30milliom people and 1000 listed companies. GeneralDae: |

Agbalowomeri:Truly, the word survival of the fittest featured prominently in Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. But Machiavelli is an Italian philosopher in 16th Century. His philosophy is mainly about 'the means to an end', He postulated that you should learn not to be good, that is, you should do anything to achieve your positive objectives in life. No emotions. That is why I also called him the proponent of 'survival of the fittest' Just joking with Nosa though. |

Asangbekoko:And what happens if your positive objectives turns to negative on many other people's lives. How do we balance that if we want that society to be peaceful |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 10:14pm On May 30 |
Nothing concerns Machiavelli with peaceful society. His views on achieving your goals is to do it even at the detriment of other people Streetinvestor2: |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ghm: 10:22pm On May 30 |
Streetinvestor2:Any time I see people who think that another person being president would have done anything more significant, I always wonder: is such a person bringing Europeans to be ministers, governors, senators, reps, military, police, customs, civil service, politicians, etc.? Or will that person still use the current crop of Nigerians? |

ghm:As I believe thr are good Nigerians with integrity. I equally believe I am one in such category just like we see some on daily basis..It could equally mean you are among the bad Nigerians too. You can't tell me in a population of over 250 million people we cannot get the good numbers of people for this positions you mentioned. Then again you believe u have them in the companies u invest your money in it. Are you saying in your village, place of worship, neighbours , business/offices etc If you are asked to point out good people you won't be able to bring out any.And in leadership. When the head sets a standard and personal adheres to it.Everyone down the ladder will sit up because they know thr will be consequences for unapproved standard. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by presiade(m): 10:44pm On May 30 |
There are always remnants. The problem is getting the critical mass needed to effect the desired change. A good rule of thumb is to have 10% of a population with the right mindset, ethics, and vision to serve as the transformation agents. Unfortunately, Nigeria does not have this needed critical mass (10%), because most of the followers are as corrupt as (if not more corrupt than) the leaders who have imbibed the corruption culture of the society that made them. Most of the followers only lack the opportunity to loot the treasury. Streetinvestor2: |
