They ve been around for quite some time.
Like fintechs specifically for saving money and earn interest and largely online based.
(unlike previously established Aso-savings with physical locations)

I liken them to Bamboo and Chaka when compared to mainstream brokers(cardinal Stone, Stanbicbrokers, Meristem,etc)

Just like Opay and moniepoint as compared to mainstream banks(FUGAZ, etc)

Though I don't patronize them.

A friend of mine is still battling them on the disappearance of his Transcorp shares (over N2m worth) from their records, despite having all evidence of payment and purchase of shares. Up till now, no response.

What reliable and effective measure can investors take on brokers' breach of contracts?

CSCS, SEC and NGX hardly respond to emails and calls.

What exactly is happening in the country's bourse concerning probity and accountability?

FYI, I am not trying to be the devil's advocate here. But hope this isn't related to Transcorp last share reconstruction that reduced their OS at 4 to 1 ratio around late 2024? Morgan took so long to update the new shareholding after the exercise so many people would have bloated Transcorp shares (and money) that didn't actually existed. For me, I later sold off my true holding and had to send them an email to delete the remaining units reflecting on my portfolio with them (when I had nothing left in my CSCS statement). So thought to bring this angle up in case it's related to this case.

I joined Piggyvest circa 2016 and in my opinion they are miles are ahead of the others in that fintech savings space and quite safe too.

Pls try and contact him directly concerning this....
At least bank transfer can't lie.....even if your fund was made during system downtime...
I hope you also track this with your bank...

I haven't heard or read about this kind of complaint before now....
Even the person that deposited via bank transfer was credited within minutes without sending mails...
So try and find out where the issue actually lies..

Tell your friend to check with another broker if he has one and if this happened after the reconstruction of transcorp shares.It happened to me.My shares disappeared all from Morgan. They didn't know what happened. Till I printed my cscs from an abandoned stock broker only to see it there. The registrar to transcorp plc did anyhow after the reconstruction and was putting the shares with any of your broker with same name and CHN not minding whr the shares was sitting from the on set before the reconnection

Another thing is that some brokers don't reconcile CSCS statement with trading portfolio, you'll need to send mail to them to update it and attach a copy of your CSCS statement as the case may be.

One of the issues I observed with Morgan is the frequent change of personnel...
Issues are bound to be coming up if staff manning a particular department or certain area is being changed often, maybe without proper handing over.
I think they needed to address this and upgrade Staffers as at when due without necessarily changing or allowing them to resign on possible demands.

My own CSCS has not updated any transaction history since February so I don't even have faith in it as the final bstop of my holdings. Nobody is also replying my emails

Exactly💯. I also recently had to open with another broker because of this same concerns. Hopefully, they will improve on that going forward.

Your own case is strange cos my cscs statement gets updated. I don't know the channels for complaints so can't say anything about that. Just keep trying to force your complaints. Our 9ja stock market system/structure isn't perfect yet and still crude compared to developed markets like LSE, NYSE. But at least they are improving small small, e.g the recent changes from T+3 to T+2 and now T+1, extension of trading hours etc. More room for improvements, unfortunately for now we still have to deal with issues like yours. But still IMO, the direct CSCS online access is helpful if you can afford the yearly charge, especially for people with decent portfolio size.
