Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 5:16pm On Jun 05
I just read the AGM Resolutions of ABBEY BANK and I am shocked.

Resolution 8a:
That the Directors be and are hereby authorized to raise additional equity capital of up to ₦64,547,232,853.95 (Sixty Four Billion, Five Hundred and Forty-Seven Million, Two Hundred and Thirty-Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifty Three Naira, Ninety-Five Kobo) by way of private placement of 26,562,647,265 (Twenty-Six Billion, Five Hundred and Sixty-Two Million, Six Hundred and Forty-Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty-Five) ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at ₦2.43K (Two Naira Forty-Three Kobo) per share, subject to regulatory approvals

Resolution 8b:
That the Issued Share Capital of the Bank be increased from ₦5,076,923,077 (Five Billion, Seventy-Six Million, Nine Hundred and Twenty-Three Thousand, Seventy-Seven Naira) divided into 10,153,846,154 (Ten Billion, One Hundred and Fifty Three Million, Eight Hundred and Forty Six Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty Four) ordinary shares of 50 Kobo each to ₦18,358,246,709.5 (Eighteen Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty Eight Million, Two Hundred and Forty Six Thousand, Seven Hundred and Nine Naira, Fifty Kobo) by the creation of up to 26,562,647,265 (Twenty Six Billion, Five Hundred and Sixty Two Million, Six Hundred and Forty Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty Five) Ordinary shares of 50 Kobo each; such new shares to rank pari passu in all respects with the existing ordinary shares in the capital of the Bank.

The same ABBEYBDS was ₦2.40 on 29 November 2024. It peaked at ₦14.95 on 6 February 2026 and is being given away for ₦2.43 shocked

Sometimes we should not blame SEC and NGX for the way most of these companies behave.

Who were the shareholders at the AGM where these ridiculous motions were carried? huh

In other words, for every 1billion the private investors ( current directors and cronies) bring in he/she is has already made about 300% even before the investment? O.Y.O to all the retail investors that own ABBEY. Sell-off will begin by Monday. We will enter when it reaches #4-4.5. Their reward shouldn't be above 100%.

NGX Lost ₦2.29 Trillion in Two Days — What Happened?

There is currently fear in the market but ....

Let's say I bought Dangote Cement at ₦300 when fuel was also ₦300 per litre, before the Tinubu administration. Now, my investment has grown by about 3.7 times, almost 4 times my original capital. I decide to take profit, but the problem is that the ₦1,100 I can now sell the stock for cannot buy the same amount of fuel the ₦300 could back then.

My question is: did I really make a gain?

Another question: should I be worried that bears are coming to push these stocks down?

Question one answer: Yes you made gain by beating inflation when you factor in the percentage by which your money grew.

2 — You should be glad and happy.

Only be worried when stocks rally too fast and they refused to correct, it will mean a bubble for a very long time and that's dangerous.

Nope...we are not comparing which is better
Time will tell which will deliver in short/medium term.Infact in 2026 vdf will deliver better than Access
My only concern is about the market generally because of election. The next election is going to determine the survival of nigeria.

And that's OK. VFD can do better than Access and I will be happy for VFD shareholders but unless I see a logical reason based on public information I cannot agree that it will.

Based on true inflation on the street of nigeria and not the rubbish by government figures. He didn't beat any inflation on .many things based on thr present price.
Let him tell you the cost of materials in his field then and the price now
Then the cost of wears he uses then and thr present prices.
It is only in food stuff that is manageable

If you’d factored in your dividends over the years, then you’d have broken even or made some gains even with the inflation.

When I left the NGX in about 2013 the ASI was like 29,000 and Dollar was like N170. I believe with the index at like 240,000 it has just about caught up with where it was back then in dollar terms.
