Oasisblue:
When Nigerian fixed-income instruments offer very attractive yields, institutional investors often rotate money out of equities and into:

Treasury bills
FGN bonds
Money market instruments

Analysts have specifically highlighted elevated fixed-income yields as a factor pulling capital away from equities
Una must explainarket sha. Fixed income that has been all time highs for 3 years rolling

Why does the NGX gate price formation on volume? Why can’t we run like the NYSE and LSE where any genuine trade updates the last price immediately?

Paper profits bawo... Some people no dey check their portfolios again since this red started
Shalom428:
Some investors once held hundreds of thousands of Dunlop shares in their portfolios. When they passed away, suppose their heirs were unwavering believers in long-term holding, no matter what. How much would those shares be worth today? In fact, some didn’t even need to pass away—their paper profits evaporated to zero within their own lifetime.

That’s why I strongly advocate taking profits along the way: convert part of your holdings into tangible assets, allocate some into bonds if possible, and enjoy life with the rest. AwesomeJ is cruising in his machine, savouring real profit—not the paper gains that can disappear with a single announcement.

Someone asked this in a webinar, NGX's response was that they need to put hedging instruments like options in place before allowing wild volatility like that. Same with the 10% rule.

There’s been a lot of activity within the Dangote Group lately. Over 10 million units of NASCON were traded in just two days—yet the price held firm without crashing.

Lol ... No worries, I dey okay. My BP in DangCem is about N600. My July 2nd dividends is a solid 8 digits. The eyes blurring statement is just a mere comedy. My eyes don see all seasons for this game, nothing fit make am blur. And Yes! It's time to separate the boys from the men!
Then, you are one of the big guys in this platform. Whatever you lost in the form of capital appreciation, you gained in dividend returns. If my arithmetic is still okay for you to have 8 digits in dividend on 2nd July with Dancem means you have nothing less than 247,000 units (i am being modest here, it could be more). Yes, you are truly one of the men in this platform. When i grow up, would like to be like you. Congratulations.

The government should like this too as it has the potential to generate more capital gains tax.

yMcy56:
Let's see how far it could have positive impact....
Although it will come with its own disadvantages too......because price will be easily altered either positively or negatively... especially the big Caps.

Looks like the Rule was made for the big Cap stocks..... ARADEL, SEPLAT, AIRTEL, DANGCEM and the likes.. .
Especially SEPLAT and AIRTEL to enhance liquidity...

I try small but solid men with solid bars full this forum. Nothing but respect to everyone, regardless of the portfolio size.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by megawealth01: 9:02pm On Jun 18
Someone called me to tell me that my late friend’s wife inflated her kids school fees as I have been the one paying since 3 years that my frd departed…..it was one of the the promises I made.

I felt bad because it was not that I have so much myself.

So she reminded me of the balance last week as I already gave her the permission to remind me.

When she did, I sent her the balance.

I was still having a mixed feeling as I thought the source that told me she inflated the school fee might be saying the truth or not.

So somehow, I got the school contact and then called the school to inquire.

The school gave me the fees for each class and I found out that I was under paying the school fee by 17k.

Immediately, I called her and asked that I want to see her. We met and I asked why she didn’t tell me the exact school fee of her children. She was surprised and to calm down her curiosity, I explained that I reached out to her children school and the reason why I go to know.

So she explained to me that the school fees were increased but she didn’t want to bother me since I was already doing so much.

Over there, I feel so emotional and wonder why someone would have called to tell me she was inflating the children’s fee when she was not.

It would be unfair of me if I didn’t tell her I thought. So I told her it is her elder sister who lives together with them that called me.

I showed her the number, time she called, and the text she sent.

She bursted into tears. She could not say any words.

But why will someone do that to her own sister? She didn’t even pity how she struggles to take care of the kids and bring them livelihood.

For the terms I under paid her, I balanced up.

God bless every struggling mother. May your enemies be all put to shame. 🙏

You are indeed very correct. Before i joined this thread i was on my own ( me, myself and I) priding myself that i have a huge portfolio. But, when i started interactions here on this thread my eyes opened wide. Then, i realized i was just starting and was humbled. Yes, they say investment is not a team sport, but when you see the way people analyze stocks, trade stocks and speculate stocks then you just have to put your acts together. I am making good progress and challenging myself to do more.

Have very few years to retire, grin grin grin

I have nothing against Mega and he is surely one of our real buddies on this forum, and one of the influencial members, unlike me who doesn't do analysis of stocks before buying, because I only buy popular stocks with a history of performance.
It would surprise you to hear that Access is not even one of my actual holdings even though I decided to throw something like a 700k in there as a gamble. And I know it's a worthy investment, jokes apart, you can't go wrong by investing in Access Bank.

Seriously, what I was saying in earnest is that people should say their prayers aside quietly instead of coming to the forum to say it. For instance, if you say such prayers in church, like Access should come down to #5, your church members would say 'amen'. Then why are you wishing such happenstance in a place where your co-forumite bought the same stuff at #25 ?

I beg no be fight o. I'm just a learner still trying to adjust to your idiosyncrasies in the forum. Mega, abeg no vex. I know same you dey joke self; true. But if it really happens, I know you would buy millions of units. One love 💕
Tbis is my advice: dont take such comments too serious. If yiu do, you would worry yourself about nothing and may end up losing opportunities in good stocks. People here may say so many things that are only hypothetical and not practical or realistic. If
