📌 Ellah Lakes Restructures Balance Sheet: 2.25 Billion New Shares Listed After ₦6.3bn Debt-to-Equity Conversion

📊 Overview: What Happened?

Ellah Lakes Plc has completed a major financial restructuring, converting debt into equity and listing the newly created shares on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).

👉 This is known as a Debt-to-Equity Conversion

🧠 Simple Meaning (In Plain Terms)

Instead of repaying ₦6.3 billion in debt with cash, Ellah Lakes:

Converted that debt into company shares
Gave lenders/investors ownership in the company
Listed those shares on the stock market

💰 Key Transaction Details

🔹 1. Debt converted

Total debt converted: ₦6.306 billion
Conversion price: ₦2.80 per share

🔹 2. New shares issued

2,252,142,858 new ordinary shares
Each share: 50 kobo unit value

🔹 3. Listing date

23 June 2026
Listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX)

📊 Impact on Share Capital

Before listing:

After listing:

👉 Increase of about:

2.25 billion new shares added

⚖️ Why companies do this

Debt-to-equity conversion is usually done to:

Reduce debt burden
Improve financial stability
Strengthen balance sheet
Avoid cash repayment pressure
Attract long-term investor confidence

📉 What this means for shareholders

✔️ Positive sides:

Company becomes less debt-heavy
Financial structure becomes more stable
Better long-term sustainability

⚠️ Possible downside:

Share dilution
Existing shareholders now own a smaller percentage of the company
Earnings per share may reduce in the short term

📌 Market Interpretation

This type of listing is typically seen as:

A financial restructuring move
Not necessarily a bullish or bearish signal on its own
Its impact depends on:
Future profitability
How efficiently the company uses reduced debt pressure

🧾 Bottom Line

Ellah Lakes has essentially:
👉 Converted debt into equity
👉 Increased its share base significantly
👉 Strengthened its balance sheet but diluted ownership

Thoughts on Aradel Q1 2026 earnings and where i think the stock should be trading at.
Sorry sir, I may be new here. But respectfully, this is too too optimistic. You have omitted plenty things to arrive at this valuation. It’s not correct but then I won’t critique it. Aradel doesn’t have the numbers to support 2000-3000 currently. A lot of things needs change in their subsequent FS released to see that price.

The account is used by United Capital to receive applications submitted through them (acting as agents). So you will need to submit your form through them so they collate and make returns.
You can contact your stockbrokers to receive the form and advice their own account for the rights issue.

Over reliance on AI can put people into serious trouble o!
See what I saw when I tried to check out the given account number, and the fool (AI) stupidly altered the account name to hide the information that will sell it out as an unintelligent machine.

lol, Aradel is good but at the current price it’s expensive. Nothing like 2000-3000 price for it at least for now. His valuation is flawed. So Aradel is a hold at least for now.

If at all there is a stock to buy currently it’s MTN. The company is grossly undervalued. My target price is around 1200. 12 months from now but we will see about that.

ARADEL is going down because there are too many better opportunities in the market that has favoured rebalancing out of ARADEL with most people sitting on over 150% unrealized profit.

It is always better to release your result when others are releasing theirs.

A fantastic result released in a bear market will not do much for the stock as alot of other better opportunities will exist in the market.

Institutional investors and HNI are already committing funds to ZENITH, GTCO and MTN. 6.2billion and 5.3 Billion spent on MTN and ZENITH AT THIS TIME

Not really cause the bearish is across board but also The market is just repricing the stock to what it is worth based on current result. Nothing much

on the positive side unless someone does 100k deal at once ARADEL wont go below 1575. 100K deal at once will need a HNI, Institutional Investor. cool

Except one is unwise it doesnt make sense to put 157m and trigger a 10% loss for yourself as you take position, its better to do multiples of 99k deals than 100k deal even one.

This is one thing i love about the 10% rule and 100k deal rule. i am hearing they want to change the 100k rule but they should not try that ooo these are protections from loses as the market evolves and frees it from manipulation.

True they're protections, but the 100k rule affects liquidity. If the 10k rule were in place already, we might be buying ARADEL at 1200 this week.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Oasisblue: 3:44pm On Jun 23
Its not already down if it hasnt reached the treshhold as this guarantees it opens at the previous day price and not suffer subseqent daily 10% loses.

Berger Paints has been trading at 10% less than the opening price for over a week now anD has still not reached treshold. If they manage good Q2 results, they can go from full offer at -10% to full bid at +10%. Thats the magic of the NGX.

The market is still evolving, needs stability and investors confidence more than crazy volatility. I know traders will disagree with me because they make more money with volatility but alot of people will be burnt and pull out. It will also be easier to manipulate the market. We need more participants in the market for it to boom.

i am not really confortable with that new 10k rule as an investor, i prefer 100k rule

Must you always be talking with AI on something as sensitive as your money? AI cannot be your witness or evidence in court!
Just walk into the office or branch of the issuing house(s) or banker(s) or registrars for the Rights Issue as indicated in the Prospectus.
If you pay through them, ensure you keep records of the transaction e.g. transfer receipt, cheque etc. for future reference or evidence
