What is all these talks about interim dividend in July thought it's usually around October -November
They are not paying interim dividend in July; it is only the date of the press release.
The interim dividend will be decided at the AGM on August13

So, why is this happening? If you can explain it, not just describe it, but explain why the stock behaves that way, then you have a money-printing business.
No one knows😂 . We are all speculating. Is just to have a plan in case it happened. There's never shortage of narratives why market moves. Weather it's election uncertainty, inflation data, T+2 abi T+1 settlement, fpis looking for the next frontier market that have more upside potential. I just don't bother with that mental gymnastic

Interim dividend is always paid for half year (H1), so this will be decided at the board meeting of second half of the year and not Oct/Nov.
If you're talking about payment Date, that's different.

They need to rekindle hope in shareholders, otherwise price go crash further and shareholders would be jittery and angrier. grin

If you are looking at 5 solid years: Look for stocks that have good potential, but currently undervalued and not doing too well.
One sure bet: Access Bank.
The other is: Insurance stocks:
Another one is: Oando (but very controversial, it has good potential if you have the MIND to wait and shoulder all the risks)
Another one: Japaul
Oando that has 500 billion negative equity!!!

If the owner of UBA doesn't care, what would you say about Oando, which has been giving people false hope? I don't understand why minority shareholders in Nigeria are so docile. That's why some companies take them for granted and keep milking the company at their expense.

And you expect it to be negative equity for ever? No company fortunes stays the same for ever: either it worsens or improves.
The OP is targeting 5 years from now.

Who vex them like this? shocked
Thank God it's not OANDO, the pages of this thread for don almost reach 2000 by now....😁

Anyway, ARADEL is presenting very good opportunities as from today sha....
Serious bargainers should be picking....
Not talking about Peter's bargain hunters o.

This ARADEL is still going back to 1900/2000..... tongue
The big players are also watching as you're dumping it....

*At this point (@ today's low), I won't advice anyone holding it to sell again.....
If you have funds, keep watching it in order to pick more.....
** Remember this is still my opinion and you're the CEO of your portfolio.

A few years back (2 or 3 years go), UBA paid fantastic bumper dividends to shareholders! Did the owners care or not?
Investment in equity is basically taking risks. Not everything would be smooth from start to finish, especially in a highly regulated sector like banking.
Several banks have experienced one issue or the other at different times which affected payment of dividend e.g. FBN, Wema, etc.
No director wants the value of his/her multi-billion wealth in investments to go down or be eroded.

My issue with you is that, you have refused to listen and abide by the time-tested advice of Jagaban:

Haba, wetin? Na only you dey inside Nigeria or NGX? grin grin

If you are still holding a fundamentally sound stock you only lose if you sell. If you don't sell you will only lose time.
