**LATEST MARKET UPDATE: FRIDAY AFTERNOON, 03 JULY 2026**
Report was before final market figure were out, so closing figure may be slightly different from our figures

1. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE MARKET RIGHT NOW

The Nigerian stock market is finally showing a small recovery today. After falling and losing a lot of money for several days, the main index is up 1,778 points or 0.79 percent, putting it at 226,100 points. The market bounced back after testing a support level at 225,355 points. This means prices are trying to stop crashing and are starting to go back up because big money buyers are stepping in to help save the day.

2. HOW THE BIG PLAYERS ARE MOVING
The Big Rich Buyers are Stopping the Bleeding

Think of the stock market like a massive market square. For the last few days, big institutional traders were panic-selling and throwing their goods away, which made prices drop fast. Today, those same big players changed their minds. They realized prices got cheap enough, so they stopped selling and started buying up large amounts of shares. This big buying power created a floor that stopped the prices from dropping any further.

3. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE EVERYDAY PERSON
The market is showing a green light today, but you still need to be careful. The overall trend for the last few weeks has been downward and rocky. While today is a good day because the big money guys are helping to support the prices, the broader economy is still tough due to high interest rates and expensive shipping costs from overseas trouble. Today is a nice breathing spell, but the market is not completely out of the woods yet.

Pension contributions are just trickling into the hands of PFAs (institutional investors), and this should continue until the 10th of the month. Hopefully, the funds should sustain the bullish trend reversal until half-year results and dividends are announced.

Lol I sabi @Agbalowomeri well nah—the Chief Bear Market Officer of NSEMPA. grin

Yes, I also believe that we’re only witnessing a market correction—we need a small market tempering to avoid a bigger catastrophic burst. Pension Funds Managers and other institutional investors can do some wonders early July before H1 results start to trickle in. Announcements of dividends may also drive us beyond August/September. Although Dangote Refinery IPO may distort the market a bit in September if it is not postponed.

No sir, they are not doing anything wrong. Just part of the learning curve.
Rather I share Mercy’s advice to anyone in this predicament, not to sell your losing stocks. Seek advice from those with investment grey hair and there are many here..Pa Emma, Sunrisepepple, Mercy, awesomeJ, megawealth01, pluto9, Karltom, Osita..Gina and Chimex to mention just a few, that in my opinion, have a sanguine disposition to investment. We are actually all here because we wish to learn. We wish to be more profitable. Whether you own billions of Naira or just kobos. Some may need to learn more than others. Send them a private message/review their previous posts, if necessary, they would be more than happy to help. Markets climb and fall , that’s what markets naturally do. You only lose when you sell. Businesses are in business because they believe in themselves or else they would have shut down. Convert the poor performers to long-term stocks to give them time. Some that were even suspended some time in the past, have found themselves back on the exchange. However, learn and master which companies are the “Iroko tree stocks” in the investment forest and stick to those e.g from the Ngx30s. Buy the IROKO stocks at the right prices by whatever assessment strategy suits your appetite. Learn to recalibrate after every earnings report released by these “IROKO stocks” to discover if you are still on the right side of profit or need to switch. Never buy a stock without understanding what the company does and whether it’s profitable or potentially profitable. Learn to analyze financial statements. Follow every disclosure on Ngx to box stocks into profitable or potentially profitable. Outside of this, it could well be a gamble.

By the way, how is Pa Emma, haven't seen his post for a while.

Let's always remember to put things in relative context. What is ''south'' to you, may be ''north'' to someone else.
For instance, some investors bought UBA, FBN etc. for less than N5 and they have millions and millions of units, for the long term.
Investors have different goals, strategies etc. based on available information, expectations, funds, investment horizon, age, risk apetite etc.
FYI I liked your post. Glad you put a context

Aradel corporate disclosure shows one insider selling over 13 million units this period. Hmmmm. But who was the buyer?

Then minimal some purchases of 100 units 300units etc that are not even up to 1k except for one 38k purchase.

Who you relate with will either expand your mind or shrink your mind.

Last year, I mentioned how much I invested in developing myself and Facebook people couldn’t believe it. I laughed.

Please expand your mind. Please stop shrinking your mind. Start seeing 1 million USD as small money. I have lost more than that in crypto and I didn’t die. In fact, I tell people that the best way to expand your mind for bigger money is to believe that you can survive the loss of big money.

If you have 10 million Naira in assets and you are only capable of losing 1 million Naira, in my head, your real value is 1 million Naira. I measure a person’s worth by how much they can lose without losing their mind.

The first thing I teach people I want to bring into my inner circle is how to be comfortable with losing - while working towards gaining. Don’t be too afraid of risks. As long as you won’t commit a crime, take big risks.
Expand your mind. Do not shrink your mind. Association matters.

It is clear that this country is now being led by people who do not believe in it. Why do you make NYSC posting as regards to insecurity a matter of policy, and formally state that only students from insecure areas should be posted there? Shouldn't such issues be left to the discretion of the Service? Even at the peak of insurgency in Borno and Yobe states NYSC members were formally posted there, but they were instead sent to serve in other states. When will our leaders understand that insecurity at the level we have it now has to be fought nationally and not be regarded as the headache of those states that are suffering from it. Which states are really free of it now?

megawealth01:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major overhaul of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployment system, announcing that corps members will now be posted to states based on security risk assessments rather than the existing nationwide allocation model.

Under the new policy, prospective corps members will no longer be deployed indiscriminately to states facing serious security threats. Instead, postings to such areas will prioritise indigenes, residents, graduates of institutions within those states, and those from neighbouring states in the same geopolitical zone, following detailed security evaluations.

The President said the decision forms part of a broader reform agenda aimed at protecting corps members while preserving the NYSC's objective of fostering national unity. He noted that security realities across the country require a more practical and flexible deployment system.

Tinubu also approved other far-reaching reforms, including extending the NYSC orientation camp from three weeks to six weeks, replacing the military Director-General with a civilian DG, and introducing expanded training in entrepreneurship, leadership, civic responsibility, and job creation.

He directed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the Ministry of Justice to begin amending the NYSC Act to provide the legal framework needed to implement the reforms.

According to the President, the changes are intended to modernise the scheme, enhance the safety of corps members, and better prepare young graduates for life after national service.

Until the so-called governors and other politicians realize leadership is a serious work, and not just a money-making scheme for those in power, we won't get anything right, security inclusive. All the issues we face today are related and one can't be resolved in isolation of others. How do you tackle insecurity without a working economic policy, both micro and macro? How will economy grow and opportunities created for the people without infrastructure? And so on. Today, we have people whose only interest in government is to make money for themselves. They think less about the seriousness of the work at hand. See how flood ravaged everywhere in Lagos and this happens every year. Each year we complain about the same thing... no working drainage system. You then begin to ask, what is the work of the governors, commissioners, senators, reps, etc?

The other day, one of the governors and a rep were in London to celebrate birthday - this is the kind of leaders we have, and we expect things to work.

In summary, the governors should sit up and do the work for which they collect huge monthly security and other undeserved allowances.
