*NAICOM just dropped a serious warning to insurance companies* 📢 *The directive* NAICOM says: *"Companies with outstanding claims will not be relicensed"* under the ongoing recapitalisation exercise. They sent a letter titled _“Regulatory Directive – Settlement of Discharged Claims as A Precondition for Re-Licensing Pursuant to the Ongoing Recapitalization Exercise”_ to all MDs/CEOs. *Key points from NAICOM:* 1. *Mandatory settlement*: All insurance companies must _fully settle all outstanding duly discharged claims_ 2. *Deadline for report*: Submit a report of reconciled claims signed by MD/CEO + evidence of payment *on or before 21st July 2026* 3. *Re-licensing condition*: Compliance is _a critical regulatory criterion for eligibility, confirmation, and re-licensing_ after the recapitalisation exercise. *Why this matters now* The *recapitalisation deadline is July 31, 2026*. Under the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act 2025 NIIRA 2025, new minimum capital is: - *Life insurers*: ₦10bn, up from ₦2bn - *Non-life insurers*: ₦15bn, up from ₦3bn - *Reinsurers*: ₦35bn, up from ₦10bn. NAICOM has also said *no extension* will be granted — "it is the law". Any company that fails will face liquidation, merger, or other regulatory action. *The bigger picture* NAICOM is trying to fix the "trust gap". For years people complained that insurers collect premiums but delay/fail to pay claims. Now they’re saying: _clear your claims first, then we’ll talk recapitalisation_. Commissioner Olusegun Omosehin said by July 30, 2026 Nigerians will see "new insurance companies that have met the requirements, are stronger, better managed, and have the financial capacity to meet their obligations". Analysts expect mergers and acquisitions to spike as smaller firms struggle. Some companies are already dropping business lines to survive. *What this means for policyholders* Good news: If your claim was "discharged" but unpaid, the insurer now has until July 21, 2026 to pay you or risk losing their license. Also, there’s now an *Insurance Policyholders Protection Fund* — like NDIC for banks — to pay claims even if a firm becomes insolvent. NAICOM is basically saying: no more running away with people’s money. |

ROYALEX Steadies as Insurance Sector Seeks Recovery Royal Exchange Plc remains one of Nigeria's oldest composite insurers, operating across life, general, and health insurance lines amid a challenging macroeconomic environment defined by persistent naira weakness, elevated inflation, and compressed consumer purchasing power. https://ewnation.com/royalex-steadies-as-insurance-sector-seeks-recovery/ Not financial advice. ZICHIS Agro Allied Gains from Nigeria’s Food Push Zichis Agro Allied Industries Limited operates within one of Nigeria's most strategically prioritised sectors, as the federal government continues to push import substitution and domestic food production to ease chronic food inflation that has kept headline CPI elevated above 30%. https://ewnation.com/zichis-agro-allied-gains-from-nigeria-s-food-push/ Not financial advice. |

WHAT WILL THE MARKET DO TODAY The market recovery is likely to continue. We are watching our behind the scene fundamentals, although the fundamentals are not strong, but as long as big money continue to buy stocks, the market has no option but to continue to be bullish. What I love about this our behind the scene fundamentals is that it tells you when to be a heavy buyer and when to slow down in buying. The only caveat here is that what we buy must have a little bit of the fundamentals the majority are used to. For example, after suffering some losses in the past I will not bother my head if Thomaswyat/Omatek are gaining 10% everyday (all I will do is wish the buyers goodluck)

Key Points Oil prices jumped more than 5% after President Donald Trump said the U.S.-Iran ceasefire was “over.” His comments came after the U.S. launched fresh strikes on Iran in retaliation for attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The latest exchange threatens to test a fragile ceasefire reached last month that reopened the strategic waterway after months of disruption. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/08/oil-prices-brent-wti-iran-us-hormuz.html?__source=newsletter%7Cbreakingnews BARGAIN HUNTERS TAKE NOTE!

https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Oil-and-LNG-Tankers-Make-U-Turns-After-Fresh-Hormuz-Escalation.html The renewed hostilities and attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz again put an abrupt end to the steady flow of oil and gas tankers moving in and out of the Persian Gulf. At least four oil and LNG tankers have made U-turns from attempts to transit the Strait of Hormuz in the past 12 hours, vessel-tracking data compiled by Reuters showed early on Wednesday. The Iranian attacks on three commercial ships on Tuesday, including an oil tanker and an LNG carrier, have prompted some shipowners and operators to pause attempts to transit the Strait of Hormuz as the security situation has sharply deteriorated. Three empty LNG carriers that were en route to move westward into the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz turned away from the chokepoint late on Tuesday, according to the data compiled by Reuters from analytics firms Kpler and LSEG. All three LNG carriers were en route to load cargoes at BARGAIN HUNTERS TAKE NOTE!
