It beats me how people can openly level accusations and tag people with crimes that were not committed in their presence and of which no court of law has pronounced a guilty verdict. Just as someone here said, if you are so sure of what you are saying, kindly activate your rights as a citizen and approach the courts. Otherwise please shut it and lets have peace and talk stock market.

I have followed the ongoing international spat between Nigeria and South Africa and the SA talking ponts have been the cr@p fellow Nigerians put online about our nations and leaders, mostly unsubstantiated info. When you sell your nation by pushing cheap propaganda becasue you despise the people in power based on ethnicity, religious and political bias, you sell yourself cheaply and the consequences linger, continuing even when your anointed candidate occupies the office.
Praise the Lord!
Allahu Akbar!

Femi Otedola has signalled that he intends to take majority control of First HoldCo, telling Nairametrics that his investment threshold is always above 51% and that he is following the same path at Nigeria's most valuable bank, saying he was sure his antecedents show his investment threshold is always over and above 51 percent, that firm shareholder control with due regard for minority interest is a key ingredient to executing reforms, and that he is on the same trajectory with First HoldCo.

Otedola holds 11,956,589,264 shares, or 25.87% of the company, and reaching 51% would require roughly 11.6 billion additional shares costing about ₦1.59 trillion, or $1.15 billion, at Monday's record intraday price of ₦137.20, though he would trigger a legal obligation well before that, with Nigerian takeover rules under the Investments and Securities Act 2025 requiring an investor crossing 30% to make a mandatory offer for the remainder unless the commission grants an exemption, and that threshold sits near 13.87 billion shares, about 1.91 billion above his current position. Otedola disclosed a figure he had not previously made public, saying he has invested over ₦600 billion of his personal wealth in First HoldCo, roughly $432 million, and pointed to two precedents, having taken African Petroleum, later Forte Oil, from 28% to 75% before selling in 2019, and Geregu Power from 51% to 95% and then to 77% after the 2022 listing, though he described First HoldCo as a long-term generational commitment unlike either.

Otedola gave his fullest account yet of what he bought into, describing an institution on the brink with more than ₦2 trillion in bad loans and a culture of what he called recalcitrant and delinquent debtors treating the bank as an outlet to exploit, with the Central Bank of Nigeria having dissolved the entire board in 2021, and the group having impaired more than ₦3 trillion over the past decade including a single ₦1.70 trillion charge to clear legacy exposures. The recovery has been sharp, with First HoldCo reporting first-half pre-tax profit of ₦653.54 billion, up 83.5%, on a return on average equity of 30.4%, which Otedola said is the highest among Nigeria's leading banking groups, and he put the full-year forecast at around ₦1.2 trillion, with the company having met the central bank's ₦500 billion capital requirement ahead of the March deadline and secured shareholder approval in May for a further ₦253 billion raise targeting ₦1 trillion in paid-up capital, alongside a payout policy of about 60% of profit after tax.

Any where Ote$ is going oya...those my remaining 35% who knows... I am not even selling again let us see where e dey go....

But note that investing in FBN Holdings for immediate 2026 dividends carries high regulatory risk.

Although management announced a future 60% profit-payout policy, cash distributions remain legally frozen under a strict Central Bank of Nigeria forbearance clampdown.

The apex bank has explicitly barred FBNH from distributing cash until legacy single-obligor debt breaches are resolved. Despite surging profits, your capital will sit yield-starved until the CBN formally lifts this restriction.

Moreso he bought the shares warehoused in RC investments...the Otudeko and Odukale shares..

LASACO Poised as Nigerian Insurance Sector Rebounds

Lasaco Assurance Plc remains one of the more actively traded mid-tier insurers on the Nigerian Exchange, benefiting from a broader structural shift in Nigeria's insurance penetration narrative as regulators and macroeconomic conditions push more individuals and corporates toward formal coverage.

This is where a lot of people are getting confused with the "Royal Exchange" name.

*The Royal Exchange Assurance Plc Breakdown*

*Parent Company:*
*Royal Exchange Assurance Plc* - The holding company

Under it are 2 completely separate, licensed insurance companies:

*1. Rex Insurance Limited*
- *Former name*: Royal Exchange General Insurance Company (REGIC)
- *Business*: Non-life / General insurance
`Oil & Gas, Marine, Aviation, Property, Motor, etc.`
- *Status*: ✅ *QUALIFIED* - Met NAICOM MCR under NIIRA 2025
- *Why the rebrand*: To give it a modern, standalone identity separate from the group

*2. Royal Exchange Prudential Life Plc*
- *Business*: Life insurance + Investment-linked savings products
- *Status*: ❌ *NOT YET QUALIFIED* - Not on NAICOM’s list of 43 compliant firms
- *Note*: It’s on the list of companies not yet verified.

*Why One Can Qualify, and the Other Can’t*.
Because NAICOM regulates them as *2 different legal entities* with:
- *Separate capital* - Each must meet MCR on its own
- *Separate licenses* - General vs Life
- *Separate filings and audits*

So Rex Insurance Limited qualifying, doesn’t "carry along" Royal Exchange Prudential Life Plc. And vice versa.
Same family, different bank accounts.

*What this means for customers*
- *If you have General insurance* with Rex Insurance Limited: You’re covered. They have the capital buffer now.
- *If you have Life insurance* with Royal Exchange Prudential Life Plc: The company is still in NAICOM’s review process. Final decision on them should come within the 14-day window ~Aug 14.

This split is actually common in Nigeria now. A lot of groups separated Life and General to meet the new capital requirements more cleanly.

It helps a lot of policyholders know exactly which entity they’re with.

JapaulGold Pre-Market Outlook – Today
Yesterday's session ended positively at ₦3.10 (+2.31%) with a healthy 18.23 million shares traded, showing buyers are still active after the strong Q2 results.
Today's focus:
Support: ₦3.05–₦3.10
Resistance: ₦3.20, then ₦3.32
If buyers sustain the momentum and break ₦3.32 on good volume, JapaulGold could extend its rally. Holding above ₦3.10 will keep the bullish outlook intact.
Watch the opening hour—volume will tell the story. 📈
