A coy that is seeking regulators approval for a Right Issue @ #50 is currently trading at #35.

What does that tells you?

The poor and ordinary masses have always been there. In 2022, we had many of them and we were in danger of not having dollars to import (which would have doubled the amount of those poor in a few years). We were going to be a Srilanka with the struggle to get dollars to fufill our letters of credit due to the mounting FX backlog, the dominance of the black market and banks having no dollars to give.
No surprised that is exactly what the failed president said to the bishops. Have we ever had this level of poverty and hunger. Who told you all that nigeria was heading to collapse before 2023.
That is balablu talk.If the exchange rate is truly on free float. Why is it not coming down with the improved parameters you claim.
They are looting the country to grave and you are all here giving excuses and yeye explanation
This same criminals gathered in ojota protesting about everything even when it was far affordable. They grabbed power and now telling Nigerians that thr was hunger before christ came..
I will soon start sharing thr individual media statements at ojota then if you all think we have forgotten or we don't have evidence again

Yes. Buy if the target property price has moved from N50 to N150-N200m, they would still not be able to meet up unless they increase or double their investment capital. That is my point.
Good investments will adjust to inflation and devaluation, the investment income will also adjust

Almost all insurance companies will give negative value presently when u factor inflation and devaluation. The people who picked them won't be considered not to be smart
Time and season of failed government happened to thr investment..simple

I don't use either.
However, I don't think the broker should really be a major consideration.

Greetings everyone!

I am thinking of domiciling my long time holdings to one of these brokers, FSDH or Cardinalstone.

Which of them will you recommend I go with. How much are there respective account opening fees?

Your advice and experience with them will be useful. Thanks

Do you think printing around 13 trillion in 2022 and 2023 didn’t contribute to that inflation? Do you believe the inflation was caused by just this Government alone and not the previous one?
You are making noise about Buhari printing. A man has spent about 6 times our gdp out side the budget by the assembly. when he comes down we will know how much he has printed
Have you equally looked at the domestic borrowing. How much has he printed to be servicing it.When he comes down we will get the truth.

You have not said why the exchange rate is not coming down with all the improved parameters. Why has it been fixed above 1300 to naira all this time.Even with the liberalisation and banks extending thr quater limits. Why is it not coming down.
We have systematic pegging by cbn is the answer ....go and verify

I also read somewhere (searching for the article) that ONLY the 8.83bn shares will qualify for the RI (i.e. excluding the distributed units)
In that case, the RI shares should not benefit from the share redistribution

True. If you time horizon is 3-5 years just buy index fund and you will be fine.

Stanbic ETF 30 was N250 3 years ago. It is 2200 Today. I no too tey for this world but it seems just keeping it simple and having patient pays up long time in the market. I am very sure Stanbic 30 ETF 30 index have outpermed most participant of this thread
I won't buy any fund I can't easily redeem from the owners... Stanbic Ibtc etf 30 crashed like a pack of cards from around 7k this year if I recall correctly ...one should not hold stanbic ibtc etf30, Oando and Access that would be a triple whammy ... I used to own ethical fund and when I saw it was reducing my gains I redeemed into the money market funds...

Why bother with oga Wale... he's having a time of his life. Look for firms whose management goals are aligned with the shareholders like zenith, GTCO... Not the ones who are increasing executive salaries and allowances whilst the the firm is having half a trillion negative equity...

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by PuristForest:
What Nobody Talks About: Time OUT of the Market

"Time in the market beats timing the market."

It's true — for long-term compounding. But in high-volatility markets like the NGX, that saying can quietly become a limiting belief. It tells you to just hold, when in reality some of the biggest edges come from knowing when to step aside.

Look at Oando (OANDO).

The stock's major rally ran roughly 644 days (about 21 months) and delivered a staggering +2,355.94% from base to peak. Sounds like a "just hold it" story — until you zoom in. Over 234 days of that move (about 8 months, roughly a third of the total time), price alone accounted for +1,462.80% of that gain. The rest of the timeline was chop, correction, and consolidation — capital that could have been redeployed elsewhere, or simply left in cash waiting for the next setup.

Ellah Lakes (ELLAHLAKES) tells the same story on a shorter fuse: +504.24% in just 80 trading days (about 120 calendar days). Since that peak, it's been correcting for well over a year.

The pattern repeats across NGX names again and again: an explosive, compressed advance — followed by a long, grinding correction that gives back time (and sometimes price) far longer than the rally that created it.

Crypto took this same "time in the market" idea and turned it into a religion: HODL. Born from a misspelled forum post, it became a badge of conviction — sell and you're weak-handed, hold and you're a believer. But HODL culture has also produced countless bag-holders: people who rode a coin up 1,000%, then rode it right back down 90%+ because letting go felt like betrayal of the narrative, not a technical decision. "Diamond hands" through an entire five-wave decline isn't discipline — it's a limiting belief dressed up as one.

The actual skill isn't "stay in forever." It's recognizing wave structure well enough to:

Identify when an impulsive move is likely exhausting (wave 5 targets, extension zones)
Step out or trim into strength, before the correction phase eats your time and your gains
Re-enter when the corrective structure completes, rather than sitting through the entire drawdown "because time in the market"

Compounding matters. But so does what you're compounded into, and when. Sitting in cash during a 12–18 month corrective phase isn't timidity — it's often the more capital-efficient decision than "riding it out."

Time in the market builds wealth. Time OUT of the market, used well, protects it — and frees up capital for the next impulsive move. HODL isn't a strategy. Structure is.

How?
How wou)d investment incone adjust when inflation and devaluation are inversely related to profits that would produce the income? The higher the inflation and devaluation, the higher the costs of production, the lower the profits and the higher the potential losses.
So how is investment income going to adjust just like that without hurting the operations of the company or investment? Is this a fanciful talk?

But you are an investor according to you and people have commented severally here to explain to you. If you build a house with 50 million naira and there is inflation two years later, it will not affect your asset. The house will rise in value in response to the inflation and your rental income also will increase. It is the same when you have invested your money in shares

Inflation affects only people that save cash not people owning equity

You think buying shares is the only form of investment in financial assets?
How would investment income from fixed income securities (interest income) adjust to the very high inflation and devaluation of naira from N450 to N1,450?
It is a simple logic in Economics and Finance : Generally, the high inflation and steep devaluation of the naira from N450 to N1,450 would lead to a decrease in profits and investment income (nominal or real, or both), all things being equal.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by HesInMe: 1:59am On Aug 12
Where did you learn your own economics, abeg? Inflation hurts cash savers the most, yes, but it also affects equity owners. While stocks can hedge against inflation over time, high inflation often causes stock prices to drop. It raises company costs, lowers consumer spending, and reduces the real value of future profits.

If inflation didn't matter, central banks in economies with high capital formation, like the US, would not make price stability such a top priority.

There is nothing like that for a company that has little or no cash and is even in debt. Inflation reduces the value of your debt though the interest rate will also rise but who cares? Consumers of your product and services will bear it unless they have another source

If you are doing fixed deposit. It means you are saving cash. You don't have equity you have cash. Cash isn't what we are talking about here. If inflation catches your cash in the bank, it will reduce it's worth and the bank will offer you a higher interest

Thank you.

In addition, I may not know the economics of inflation, but my experience has shown that it is not as bad as we usually paint it. I see it as : we receive both good and evil, and we choose to emphasise the evil without mentioning the good.

For example, I have equipment leased to a company. Before 2019–2023, I was paid N1 million monthly, and after paying the operator and maintenance, I was left with N400,000 profit. In 2023, after the "reforms," my expenses jumped to N900,000, and I was left with N100,000 profit. In 2024, we asked for an increase due to the circumstances – inflation, exchange rate unification, subsidy removal, etc. – and N2 million was approved. My expenses jumped to N1.2 million again, and I was left with N800,000 profit, which has continued till 2026.

Now, most people will say my expenses jumped from N400,000 to N1.2 million – but they will never say my income increased from N1 million to N2 million.

The increases in salaries, allowances, prices of goods and services we offer, dividends, rents, etc., are a result of what we are complaining about bitterly – yet we hardly mention them, but cry foul over our increased expenses.

How do we explain that? Or am I missing a perspective?

Tell us how interest rates have now been increased to compensate for the high inflation and devaluation since May29, 2023
