Some sold the high cap stocks to wait for a lowered entry due to the expected volatility. If they had not reversed it, the ASI index will take a hit this week and might not recover soon enough as long as the Dangote Refinery and the FTSE Russell issues are hanging.
Boys have sold to wait for like 20% price drop to take positions in stocks like Dangote cement, Aradel, Presco and the likes.

The policy will be best to take effect during a market uptick for political gains. If they try it now, Nigeria status of best exchange in the world will be mocked.
This is me just thinking share
OK traders gambling thing. Then again how man retail investors real trade those expensive stocks based on the volume we see in the market daily. Many no get that money for such trades. Many of those stocks are out of thr league from what I do see on ngx

IMO, the categorization/methodology was imbalanced. Titled towards price discovery while neglecting trade volumes and values (AdV)

That was my biggest position o.
50% gone to flames.

But I used my trading experience to correct though. Currently +8.13% up overall.

Won with over 511k votes..

Your other 2 prediction were right though.
Congratulations 🎊
3 of 4 predictions were right.
But those 3 were altogether 50%.
The other heavy weight of 50% was completely totally red 😁😁😁.

People really turned out. Almost 40% voter turnout.

You don cash out..lol
It was an experiment. 10k is too lean a position to "cash out"

10890 grew to 11787 despite one very big loss though.

I'm considering opening a position on today's inflation numbers based on Coronation's forecast.

That's the difference between trading and gambling - Your bets have basis.

You also hedge with other positions should your call go south. Beginners would go all in chasing maximum gains, they often end up with maximum losses 😁

If I can sustain a 20% gain at the end of 1 week, I will judge this experiment as showing viability.

The new policy should be scrapped off completely.
Very nonsensical rules!!
* The New Price Amendment Rules was screaming "FAILURE" from the time they even proposed it.
* Amendment to existing policies is supposed to make them better and not to worsen it.

I mean, who does that?
GTB for instance will now have 0.01 steps? huh
Are they moving the market backwards or what??
Maybe it's engineered and proposed by Tinubu's enemies who wants to see him fail 2nd term by all means....😊
At least, let them limit it to their political circles and not bring it to the investors or masses.

** The New Amendment to Pricing Methodology should be cancelled in its entirety, while market experts and active participants are again invited to reassess it and make it better in such a way that it moves the market forward and not backwards!!

You don't get it.
It's not about the affected big Cap stocks alone, but the effect will be felt in the whole market.
Already, the market is feeling the heat of the proposed new Rules already, even before they kick start it.
It's effect will echo through the entire market and nation.

If two elephants are fighting, don't you know it's the grasses that will suffer it?
That is, if big Caps are being dealt with, where do you think the small ones will be?

The only thing that's good in it is the tiered single bulk volume movement (that can change prices officially).....BUT, the implementation of the Rule is coming at a very wrong time....
It's wrongly timed.

I quite disagree…
The rule is the best that could happen to NGX. We need to find a true discovery of our market capitalization. The present figure doesn’t show depth but only major the reflection of the big cap stock.

And yes, the 0.01 movement should be on hold until we are more robust.
However, we need to adjust the closing price for some stocks to show true market value.

If we must grow as a nation, some bold decisions need to be taken.

I don't understand. Why will anyone sell because of the policy.
Just factoring why the market was red last week.

Recorded full-day High cap Stocks on full offer or close to that, hardly drop even 5-10% reasily cuz of the 100k volume required. Only intra-day price drop

If the 10k & 50k volume had been implemented this week, Some of those stocks fit don do -20% before Friday.

Some might have taken the risk to sell last week just to be on the sideline and watch the supposed implementation this week. Which didn't happen.

I suspect it affected ASI drop last week.

But note that I'm only experimenting there, they're neither established nor regulated as far as I know. Technically, funds in your wallet may evaporate with no one coming to your rescue.

I intend checking out Signal which is a similar product by Busha. Busha is regulated by the SEC as a VASP.

This is what i call policy somersault. NGX just wake up every day and decide to try anything that comes to their mind without proper studies. This policy would have brought down market to its knees and would have eroded the little gains they have been boasting about. All the highly priced stocks are already in red and the new policy would have dragged it further. This would also have created liquidity and very good opportunity to enter stocks like Presco, Okomu, Aradel and Seplat. It would have also been a good opportunity to get out of Geregu and Totalenergy. cool

There are several similar threads under the Nairaland investment section. Could you please create a separate thread for your experiment? Concentration on NSE picks is what made this place thrive and sustainable. Biko.

I got a response back from Douye Sheila Boroh that they are looking into it. It sounds promising; hopefully it's sorted soon. Thanks alot

Send another very strongly worded email. Me I came close to insulting them and basically calling them thieves when I wrote my own email.
Write to ***(at)apelasset(dot) com,

'Talk' to the SEC in your email and ask them to investigate this thievery of your shares since you have missed the dividend date.

These were the people I kept disturbing with my emails till dboroh answered me. Lemme know when you see this so I can delete the emails.
