First of all, i am grateful for this forum in getting and hiring a good farm manager.
My former manager frustrated me and i ran at loss last year but so far so good, the person i hired on nairaland has been faithful, loyal and hard working.
Bro I'd like to chat you up,can you please drop me your WhatsApp contact?

Ok
Nice thread bros. I just read an article about cassava farming in the east, and from it, what ought to be available there is a processing facility which would take up their harvest. Your post about processing groundnuts made me go through your profile. Truly, apart from workers' dishonesty, my major fear is Fulani herdsmen.

Are your future plans targeted at processing the produce or being an out-grower to those Indian facilities within Ogun?

I really wish you the best.

Thanks very much bro.
I don't plan processing again until there is 25hrs power supply in Nigeria.
There is too many headache in biz already, so I will just stick to doing one line while transferring the remaining headaches to the next person or processor.
For maize, I have feedmillers on stby buying it.
For groundnuts, I had millers too who will buy when on ground but have mostly folded up.
So my target market is now kulikuli producers, groundnut bottle makers and peanut burger makers.

Let me get it you straight, many groundnut millers have folded up? Not just you? This is within your region (SW), right? Not the north?

Congrats on being a major supplier. There is money in processing (that is where the money in agriculture lies anyway), but power supply has been a major bottleneck. I think you are well grounded in Nigeria; if not, Ghana or Ivory Coast would have been a better option. My mom says Benin Republic even enjoys 24 hours power supply. embarassed

Nevertheless, I look forward to learning from you, online or physically.

No problem bro.
I did tomatoes, pepper, maize and groundnuts this year and the harvest from the first 3 haven't been encouraging or as expected and what have noticed in farming is that it is more effective and efficient but can't say cheaper to use tractor than manual workers.
The human factor is really affecting agriculture.
I plan to get a tractor next year and hopefully will see an improvement

Will you get the tractor on hire from the company directly, or will you get it as a cooperative with other farmers huh

Let's see how it goes.
Remind me by end of the year when we have done our audit and decide how many acres to add to the farm and determine people to add
Good evening sir, long time, how are you and how is the family doing sir?

Hello Sir,

I am curious: how much is a bag of sunflower seeds at the moment? How many bags make a ton? How are the bags of sunflower seeds weighed?

Thank you.

Tbh, I don't know the present price of sunflower seeds but should be around 50k per 100kg bag because the price moves closely with the price of soya beans. They are all oilseeds.
10 of 100kg bags make a ton which is 1000kg.
They are mostly weighed in 100kg per bag.
Do you want to plant sunflower?
Because we have low demand for it in Nigeria.
Most companies producing vegetable oil uses soya beans, palm oil, sesame seeds and groundnut seeds most.
And the byproduct also doesn't move well with Nigerian feedmillers unlike soya beans meal, groundnut cake. They mostly shy away from sunflower cake.

Hello bro, my farm is farm from imeko afon and i don't know any agent or anyone selling farm lands in that area.
Moreover, that area is filled with fulani herdsmen issues, so why imeko?
My farm is at Obafemi Owode area.

Thanks for your response in case you get someone feel free to reach out anytime. For the size to be purchased, Imeko afon LGA seem reasonably valued for it's potential compared to obafemi owode area.

Imekon afon LGA is pretty much a diamond in the rough, it has everything required of a vacation spot similar to mambilla plain.

The hilly terrain view and rainforest habitat is really nice. Lastly, it's the gateway to benin republic from that region.

Herdsmen issue wouldn't be forever, it's a game of dancing chairs.this is not taken lightly knowing people have lost their valuables and lives on this issue. To curb that, one will not rely on the government for legal security measures, else na one chance person dey. One will have to employ year round 24/7 competent private security in form of Amotekun as well as other legal private outfit and measures for gathering intelligence and liasing with the state local security outfit. Hence, the best time to start acquisition as much as possible now when there's so much pessimistic thought in that axis for plantation (Mostly perennial and a bit of annual ) potential and holiday destination. Generation yet unborn will be grateful for the foresight.

@ emmaodet, congratulations on your relocation to Canada but I want to ask did you consider the redpill before going there, that's a strong gynocentric nation where liberalism and feminism are promoted, lGBTQ ideology would be exposed to your kids, divorce rate is at 50%, women tend to misbehave once they leave Nigeria, alimony and child custody laws, general knowledge of female nature, I understand you are looking for better economic opportunities and conditions for yourself and your family but at what cost.

I understand your points very well and have taken them into consideration when making taking this action and i have put some things in place incase things go against my plans.
I personally didn't relocate with them. I will be shuttling Nigeria-Canada occassionally to see them.
My building is still in Nigeria, job is still in Africa and my stocks and bonds still intact. So i believe i am in safe hands.
Abut LGBT, i enrolled my kids in catholic church school and not govt. public school to avoid teaching them about lgbt there.
A friend who enrolled his kids in a govt day-care for his 3 years old kid regularly complain about his daughter constantly asking him ''Daddy, am i a boy or girl'' and he always answer her frankly that ''you are a girl Nancy''

Big congratulations on your relocation, sir. Wow. You are such an inspiration. Please, ignore that illiterate talking about redpill, lgbt, divorce rates nonsense. You made the right decision for your family. For all our "morality" in this country, Nigeria is a cesspit. Congrats to you once again. I will be the next.

Congratulations too on your relocation. I was a bit surprised when I read the diary post, though, that you relocated. Any particular reasons that triggered you to do it? Pardon the curiosity, but what pathway/route did you choose? A friend did his as an English teacher here, got to Vancouver to activate his PR, then returned to his now tech job in Tokyo. Just wondering..

Teaching a 3 year old LGTV is diabolical!

Catholic-run schools have always been good.

To answer your question -

I was a strong anti-japa person before but when i read the arguments between japa and anti-japa crew on nairaland with an open mind, compare and contrast, i decided to give it a shot.
Panso once even said ''Nigeria will always be our country, so leaving for few years to come back either better or not is worth taking the steps.
We used the study route - 2 years schooling plus a 3 years PGWP and after, we will see how it goes.
Moreover, i have been losing alot in my business partly due to my unavailability and partly Nigeria factor.
So, exploiting alternative routes or options is not bad afterall

I will always recommend living in a developed country to a sane, relatively young and ambitious Nigerian for at least two years. I believe it helps with exposure to proper working systems, thus creating an opportunity for our people to learn, unlearn and relearn. Whether they will apply what they have unlearned, relearned and learned into their daily activities upon returning to Nigeria is left to them. But the abroad experience (studying, working and living) is priceless.

I agree with what you have just said completely 💪🙏. The exposure gained by spending a few years in Europe, North America, Asia, Australia etc is Priceless. Cheers.
