Asangbekoko:You may be right. But I think Dangote has built some reputation with the performance of some of his companies e.g. Cement and Sugar. And with the way institutional, regional and global investors are showing interest in the refinery IPO, retail investors would be tempted as well. |

Dangote Cement is the only Dangote firm making big money and we all know why. Astronomical cement price and nothing more. That will not happen whether he sell the fuel locally or exports it. mikeapollo: |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 1:57pm On Sep 08 |
faoogoke:Profit is a function of margins (sale price-cost price), volume and efficiency. Refinery may still make good profits because it has huge capacity (volumes), even if margin is low, theoretically speaking. The average margin for most refineries is 7%-15%, |

Krisuba:This is just the beginning, Cash is king. Let the dumpers continue, we would cherry pick the sound fundamental ones. The worst hit will be the ones that do not have sound fundamentals. The saving grace is for interim- dividend banks to come out with their H1 result, or else the bloody nature will continue. Lesson learnt: In a bullish market there is opportunity to make money, also in a bear market there is also opportunity to make money. ![]() |

I understand you. But Cement business is not like refinery business. Cement with average production cost per bag of less that N1,000 selling for over N12,000. mikeapollo: |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 2:16pm On Sep 08 |
brotherly:Yea...you are right. It also shows that most players in the NGX are traders, mobilizing and deploying funds to chase after particular stocks for short-term gains. |

Mass dumping on NGX today. This Dangote Refinery effect is sure kicking in so fast that many don't want to be left out, now that they know the share price and the close proximity of the purchase. What a week this will be. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 2:31pm On Sep 08 |
4willer:Only a week? What about the 4 weeks period of the IPO itself? ![]() But this is opportunity to target some very good fundamental stocks when they drop. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 2:32pm On Sep 08 |
Seems I was right about the dumping once the IPO is actually announced. Nice. I hope they can dump MTN to 600 so I can go and take loan |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Streetinvestor2: 2:34pm On Sep 08 |
faoogoke:They are succeeding because of monopoly that was given to them so they formed cable. They are reaping Nigerians in price exploitation and government turned away. That is because the government is benefiting from the corruption. This eventually what is going to happen with the refineries. It only takes a new government coming in that has the people at heart to check mate it. That is why you see the owners of such businesses don't want someone with integrity as president. The people of nigeria are now thr maga to reap off.It is like so now in most commodity alhaji controls higher percentage of market segment |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Streetinvestor2: 2:42pm On Sep 08 |
deathwing:Don't be carried away. This normal traders doing thr thing. This red you are seeing will disappear by Wednesday or Thursday. Look at the price change in most stock it is not significant figures Dangote refinery is not a big deal for an investor to sell his fundamental sound stock. How much is the person expecting the Dangote Refinery to return to his portfolio. Abi the shares is expected to be miracle maker to retail investor. At the end of today many stock on red will still not qualify for price change |
