I see limited cash chasing numerous sound investment today. The beauty of the market is when you have a seller and a buyer. But, when you have more sellers than buyers, the price will crash. While, if you have more buyers than sellers the price will rise.

Hint: Just check out the offer and bid table today before you make any investment decision. I am not telling what you don't know already. This is simply Economics 101. This may be your opportunity to pick those stocks that have been in your radar at a good price.

In this business cash is king and also a position. Don't underestimate what your cash can do for you today.

You can't expect a company operating in an unstable environment to quarantee dividends.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery recorded a ₦19.13 trillion ($13.91 billion) revenue in the first half of 2026, more than doubling from ₦8.64 trillion recorded in H1 2025.

The refinery also posted an after-tax profit of $1.82 billion, compared with a $476 million loss reported for the full year 2025. EBITDA stood at $2.60 billion, while gross profit rose to ₦3.43 trillion from ₦225.2 billion a year earlier.

The strong performance was attributed to more stable production, higher refinery throughput and increased sales of petrol, diesel and jet fuel, including performance testing at up to 700,000 barrels per day in June 2026.

The results come as Dangote Refinery prepares for its proposed initial public offering (IPO).

A SHORT NOTE FOR NEWBIES (PROSPECTIVE IPO SUBSCRIBERS)

Before you jump into any IPO because of the noise and hype, don’t forget your investment objective.

An IPO can be a good investment, but remember:

If you are not investing for the long term, be careful with IPOs. You may be disappointed by short-term price movements.

Even a fundamentally strong company can see its share price fall. Many factors influence stock prices, and good fundamentals don't guarantee the price will always go up.

Invest only with money you can afford to leave invested. Don't use school fees, rent, emergency funds, or other money with immediate obligations simply because you believe the share price will rise.

Remember: stock prices move in two directions, i.e., UP and DOWN
Macroeconomic conditions, government policies, interest rates, market sentiment, company performance, and even rumours can affect share prices positively or negatively.

If your risk tolerance is low, don't rush into stocks. Start with investments that match your risk appetite and gradually build your knowledge and confidence.

This is not to say that buying an IPO or investing in stocks is a bad investment. Far from it. The key is to do your due diligence and make your investment decision based on your objective, risk tolerance and investment horizon, not hype.

For the Dangote Refinery IPO: you will need a CHN (Clearing House Number) and CSCS account number to hold the shares. These are typically obtained through a stockbroker by opening a CSCS/trading account. Even if you subscribe through an online platform, you still need the relevant CSCS details for the shares to be properly credited to you.

The goal is not just to make money. The goal is to make money without tears.

Invest wisely. Do your due diligence. Don't invest because everyone else is doing it.

Invest because you know why and how.

I wish you all a portfolio turned green in the days ahead!

We were here when Zichis listed and pumped their shares from N1.80 to about N20 and some people were defending them.

At least we all know the business pedigree and credibility of Dangote and his Group; reason why even banks gave him credit without demanding for his licence.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by aj8(m): 10:59am On Sep 09
I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but the fact that the Dangote refinery is requiring a minimum purchase of 10 units and it's Par value of 0.000013USD, is a pointer to a future consolidation of 10 for 1 reverse split, likely before they list on the US market in a few years. 10 units will then become 1 unit. That would pair them up well with/against Seplat for easier price determination/ appreciation/comparison.

What a comparison!
Was ZICHIS hyped?
When it was listed, some Ogas also were against the stock while some of us believed in her.

If you believed in your DR, go for it.
No one can prevail on my opinion with cheap blackmail.
DANGREF does not meet my own criteria for now, simple!
When listed, we'll be here to buy if criteria changes to positive......God willing.

From the prospectus
If he manages to scale up capacity to around 1.4m as proposed with 90-95% full utilization.

He might be able to guarantee yearly dividend despite thin margins and debt obligations. No matter how small.

Scale is the koko for thin margin businesses.
