Agbalowomeri:Baba needs the masses on his side because he is seeing this government not returning He knows obi may not return subsidy but will demand right pricing for his products Atiku go reverse subsidy and ask for right pricing too. So when he begins to shout. He needs others to join his voice. That is why 10 million shareholders of poor Nigerian are needed |

*"Manufacturers’ unsold goods rise to N1.7trn"* This is big. Basically: factories are making stuff, but Nigerians can’t buy it fast enough. *The 3 key numbers* 1. *Unsold goods/Inventory: N1.77 trillion in Q1’26* Up 10.6% YoY from N1.597 trillion in Q1’25 2. *Cost of sales: N1.43 trillion* Up 13.7% YoY. So it’s costing MORE to produce, but sales aren’t matching it 3. *The problem*: More stock sitting in warehouses + higher cost to make it = squeezed profit margins *Who’s carrying the most inventory?* - *Dangote Cement*: N703.58 billion - still the biggest, up 4.8% - *UACN*: N189.55 billion - shot up 231.8% - *Nestlé Nigeria*: N167.84 billion - but down 7.3% - *Nigerian Breweries*: N171.92 billion - down 6.7% - *Lafarge*: N110.64 billion, *International Breweries*: N95.83bn Some like *Northern Nigeria Flour Mills -34.6%* and *NASCON -17.1%* actually reduced inventory. *Why is this happening? - Analysts say:* 1. *Demand side*: Inflation has moderated to 15.91% as of June 2026, but prices are still too high. Households are cutting back on non-essentials. People prioritizing food/essentials only. 2. *Supply/Cost side*: Energy, logistics, raw materials still expensive. Many still use generators. Interest rates are high - MPR at 26.5% as of July 2026, so borrowing to produce is costly. 3. *Strategic*: Some companies deliberately built stock expecting demand to pick up later, and due to FX stability. Fiona Ahimie of CIS put it simply: _Production went up, but demand didn’t keep up._ David Adonri blamed inflation + insecurity affecting raw materials. Olatunde Amolegbe said manufacturers are keeping production to maintain market share even if sales are slow. *What they’re asking government to do:* 1. *Fix power and transport* - "Reliable power alone would significantly reduce production costs" 2. *Policy consistency* - so businesses can plan long term 3. *Cheaper financing* for manufacturers and SMEs 4. *Boost purchasing power* - jobs, real income growth, keep inflation down 5. *Support local raw materials* - backward integration *Bottom line for us:* This explains why shelves are full but sales are slow. Companies are stuck with goods and higher costs. If they can’t sell, the next step is either price cuts, layoffs, or reduced production. Economic policy today = what’s in stores and prices tomorrow. |

SonofElElyonRet:It's not 1 for 10. It's 1 bonus share regardless of the volume you hold from 10 and above. 1 bonus share for 12-month holding A second bonus share if you continue holding for a total of 24 months. So whether you hold 10 or 10,000, you get 1 share bonus so long you're a retail investor. You saying 1 for 10 would make someone holding 10,000 units expect a bonus of 1000 shares, that's wrong, such a person only gets 1 share. |

Streetinvestor2:It was listed in 2008 at N15 and delisted in 2019 at N24. That was a poor return over a period of 11 years
|
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 6:31am On Sep 15 |
megawealth01:That is very poor return over a period of 20 years. Compounded annualized growth rate of just 10% over a period of 20 years will give you 570% return.

Some of us have stopped comparing the return on our invested based on currency devaluation by considering the return in terms of dollars. But have gone ahead by comparing it the based on the value of gold over the period of when the investment was made. It is interesting to find out that some stocks in Nigeria also beat the return on gold. |

*9 NGX-listed firms flagged for financial distress*: *Companies with Negative Shareholders’ Funds* These companies have liabilities exceeding assets. The deficit ranges from ~N226 million to ~N15.5 billion: 1. *Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc* – N15.5 billion 2. *NCR (Nigeria) Plc* – N4.54 billion 3. *Nigerian Enamelware Plc* – N846.39 million 4. *Omatek Ventures Plc* – N2.73 billion 5. *Premier Paints Plc* – N225.98 million 6. *RT Briscoe Nigeria Plc* – N4.86 billion 7. *SCOA Nigeria Plc* – N563.76 million 8. *Tripple Gee & Company Plc* – N649.52 million 9. *Union Dicon Salt Plc* – N1.35 billion *Why it matters* *Negative shareholders’ funds* means accumulated losses have wiped out equity. It’s a balance-sheet warning sign. *ROE is also weak* for most: - Caverton: -143.9% - RT Briscoe: -69.1% - SCOA: -40.9% - Tripple Gee: -22.2% Some even posted positive net income but still have negative ROE due to eroded equity. *Nigerian Enamelware example*: Revenue declined by 9%. Loss after tax of N80.11 million vs profit prior year. Retained earnings now at -N1.053 billion. Total liabilities ~N3.698 billion vs assets ~N2.925 billion. *Analyst notes* 1. *Don’t rely on price alone* – A broad market rally can happen while individual firms remain under stress. 2. *Check the cause* – Losses may be from FX volatility, operational issues, or structural problems. Context matters. 3. *Watch for turnaround plans* – Recapitalization, debt restructuring, asset sales, or equity injection are what’s needed to rebuild the balance sheet. 4. *Dividend impact* – With accumulated losses and weak cash flow, capacity to pay dividends is limited. *Key metrics to monitor* Revenue growth, gross/operating margins, operating cash flow, debt levels, interest expense, retained earnings, and any announced recapitalization plan. Negative equity doesn’t automatically mean a company has stopped operating, but it is treated as a serious financial risk signal. |

The cost of 100 gram of gold in Naira was about 250k in 2006, now the cost is about N18 million 20 years after. Very few stocks gave this type of return on NGX. No Dangote stock beat currency devaluation, might struggle to just break even when we add dividends paid over the years |
