You wan impress her na. You dash girl wey nor be your babe money without her asking. Of course she'll "act" like 15k is not a big deal to her.

Let's try something. Send your guy 5k, say make e take guide. Your guy go regard you like say na million.... You know why, him know say na from your heart.

But the ingrateful girl knows/feels you wan off paent. Yo gast send #150k for dinner.
You sent her ₦15,000 for breakfast and all you got was 'good morning thanks.'

You're not concerned about her gratitude. You're concerned about her interest. If she was excited, you'd feel validated. The dry reply tells you she's not into you at least not the way you hoped.
'I'm not asking her out' but you sent 15k. Men don't send 15k to women they don't want. You're lying to yourself. You wanted a reaction. You wanted her to see you as generous, valuable, maybe even a potential partner. You got nothing back.Yoruba culture expects proper gratitude. Yes. A Yoruba girl raised well would say "Ẹ ṣé gan" or "Thank you so much, God bless you." A dry "thanks" is cold. But here's the thing. She doesn't owe you a performance. She gave you what she felt. And what she felt was "okay, thanks." You're looking for reciprocity from someone you claim you're not pursuing. You sent money to a girl you're not dating, expecting a certain level of appreciation. That's not generosity. That's transactional giving disguised as kindness.

If you're not asking her out, you shouldn't be sending 15k. If you are interested, stop pretending you're not and make your intentions clear. Either way, her dry reply told you everything. Believe it.Stop sending money to women who don't match your energy. Send it to your mother instead.

Actually, "Good morning thanks" sounds too brief. That said, don't immediately conclude that she is ungrateful. Some people are naturally very brief over text, so her response alone doesn't necessarily tell you everything about how she felt.

Personally, I appreciate thoughtful gestures, whether they involve money or not. The last thing I am is an entitled person. If it were just a friend, I would genuinely appreciate the gesture, no matter how small the amount was.

But if it were my boyfriend, that would be a completely different situation. I'm an overthinker, so it would honestly be better for him not to send me money at all, or just send me airtime worth that amount, because a bf sending 15,000 naira directly into my account would have me wondering and overthinking everything. My expression of gratitude would probably just be mere formality because I would be too busy wondering what exactly prompted the transfer 😂. Unless he had a history of sending me meaningful amounts as gifts, I would definitely overthink it.

If I can remember correctly, I was still a minor when my first bank account was opened. From my first account to all the other accounts I have, I can't remember a time when a guy, whether a friend or a boyfriend, sent 15,000 naira into my account as a gift.
you're a woman. God bless you for this. Btw I love how you write. How can I write like this? Your grammar is well structured. Gimme tips abeg

I am not saying it's wrong, but if you are a Yoruba you will understand that is not a true appreciation
you said you are not asking her out. The same you is not cool the way she said only thanks.
Let me ask. What was exactly ur intention giving her dt money? wat kind of response do you want to hear from her or how do you want her to say it?

Or you label her appreciation as incomplete because she didn't follow it up wit the usual sycophant prayer and appreciation we are use to hearing. "Thank you for yesterday" we enter the third day, she repeats it again. "Thank for for day before yesterday"

when we give and we get disturbed because we dint hear the kind of response frm the receiver. Then such giving is not frm the heart.

Except ur tying to pass a msg to the gal dt "I am the one dt is helping ur life. If I didn't send you dt money, you for die". so greet me multiple times anytym we chat or see.

Hi
Plentydreams:
Then it's ok
I totally understand you. I'm Yoruba too, trust me when I say you feeling the way you feel about her is just the mood you are when you received her message. That same message may invoke a feeling if her being grateful enough if you received it in a better mood. Your feeling of her not being grateful or grateful enough is valid though. But I would not advise you to expect thanks from people you receive from, so when you receive thanks both your feelings will light up and still receive from the universe because whatever you gives out has a way of coming back to you and when they don't show gratitude your feelings won't darken much.

This girl I barely resumed talking to her and I decided to gift her 15k in naira for her breakfast and she sent me,"good morning thanks" should I be concerned, because the proper culture of an African is supposed to be with proper gratitude, note that I am not asking her out,we have known for a while but I only felt like gifting her.

PS; this is only for the Yoruba's culture

OP wanted to form big boy. He felt he could impress the girl with 15k. Unfortunately for him, the money didn't impress her. Now he is feeling disappointed
Re: I Sent Her Money And Her Response Was This by McLizbae: 5:05pm On Sep 19
"thanks" is a word of gratitude. I think what you want from her is not just gratitude, but "worship". Unfortunately, she may not see a gift of 15k as deserving of worship. I don't see it too, though.

Come in stop gaslighting this guy.

There are nuances around human communication. You can infer sincere gratitude from the ornamentation...for example,

Ah ah, thanks a lot o; Thank you, I appreciate this; thanks bros, you do well; all indicate effort has been put into the appreciation which, in human communication shows that the effort put into the gift is appreciated.

And don't for one second decieve yourself that it is every thanks offered to God that is received. Go and ask Cain.

thanks is a low effort expression of gratitude and you know it. If I pay for something and you give me my change, I may say thanks or thank you even though it's my right. It's the barest minimum. The ingrate didn't even bother to punctuate her message.

She said thanks. What were you expecting her to roll on the floor?

When last did you gift your father money randomly for breakfast- without him asking?

Not that I'm asking her out as if it's not the same direction you are headed. Person follow highway another follow ikoro for bush path both arrive at final destination... same thing.
