I ain't doubting you but surprised at an oil company moving into crypto. Does seplat and co leave their core business and move into crypto and emerging tech business?
Think they mean Blockchain technology/ledger and not trading crypto
Even international top tier banks have adopted the technology

is this going to be paid like divident?
Yes, but capital return would not have deduction of withholding tax and the shares will be cancelled after shareholders receives the money i.e. the capital sum of the share has been returned and the share is withdrawn or cancelled by the company

Oh, OK.. I see now.
Yes, it can be done.
From a share price of ₦100, a single 100k unit transaction at ₦110 can raise the price by 10%(Max) direct to a price of 110 from 100..
It doesn't necessarily have to follow the step increment of 100.1, 100.2, etc....

Thanks for shedding light. But how do they determine the quantity of shares to be cancelled that corresponds to the capital returned?

I got this somewhere: What's being reduced is the share premium account ;an accounting entry on the balance sheet, not the actual shares you own. International Breweries' own regulatory filing on this transaction stated explicitly: "There will be no reduction in the number of shares in issue." You keep exactly the same number of shares you held before — nothing gets cancelled or withdrawn. You just also receive N0.50 per share in cash on September 23, and (like any cash distribution) the share price typically adjusts down by roughly that amount on the ex-date to reflect the cash leaving the company.

I appreciate the enlightenment.

Each single share to be cancelled has a determined value already calculated or placed on it.
You get the quantity of shares when you divide the total amount of capital (money) to be returned by the value placed on each share

So what's the determined value placed on each share

Though another contribution above stated clearly that individuals would not have their shares cancelled

Several Nigerian banks are already involved in blockchain technology, although blockchain does not run their entire banking operations.

Zenith Bank, UBA, and FirstBank have joined Zone, a CBN-licensed blockchain-based payment network.

Other banks, including Access Bank, GTCO and Stanbic IBTC, have also explored or participated in blockchain-related financial technology initiatives.

Blockchain can help banks improve payments, settlement, KYC, fraud prevention, trade finance and cross-border transactions.

Importantly, using blockchain does not mean a bank is using cryptocurrency as blockchain can support traditional banking and payment systems without involving crypto.

It seems the moneybags are focusing on GTCO for now, so ZENITHBANK is still sleeping. Also, their hands have not touched FIDSON yet.

You have to contact the company secretary or registrars to know the determined value of each share

I believed our market will move up at the right time.....
They're not here for the past few years and we are doing just fine.
Although their presence will also increase our international recognition and may eventually drive in more participants as well as drive the market up the more....
Let's exercise more patience and expect them to come and buy at premium from us. Lol.

They've started arriving and will be encouraging their fellow investors that the coast is clear after testing the mic 🎤 first...

*BREAKING: CBN CUTS RATE BIG TIME — First cut in a long while*

At its 307th Meeting (Sept 21-22, 2026), the MPC surprised the market:

*The Decisions:*
- *MPR CUT by 350bps:* From *26.50% to 23.00%* — much bigger than expected (market expected HOLD)
- *Asymmetric Corridor:* Adjusted to *+50bps / -300bps* around MPR (was +50/-450) — to make policy transmit better to market rates
- *CRR Retained:* 45% for Deposit Money Banks, 16% for Merchant Banks, 75% for Non-TSA public sector
- *Liquidity Ratio Retained:* 30%

*Why they cut:*
- Inflation improving: Headline *15.39% in August* (down from 15.43% in July) — 3rd consecutive monthly drop. 12-month average down to 16.30% — 20th consecutive month of decline
- Food inflation eased, transport & healthcare costs down — core inflation down
- Exchange rate stable, external reserves stronger, investor confidence up
- Balance of Payment surplus: *$3.51bn in Q2 2026* (up from $2.38bn in Q1)
- Current Account surplus: *$7.54bn* (up from $4.49bn)
- Bank recapitalisation giving banks capacity to lend long-term

*What it means for YOU:*

- *Bonds / T-Bills:* Yields will fall. Demand for existing high-yield bonds will rise — bond prices up, yields down. If you hold bonds, good news. If you want to buy T-Bills, lock in now before yields crash further.
- *Stocks:* VERY POSITIVE. Lower MPR = lower borrowing costs = higher company profits = higher valuations. Expect rotation from fixed income to equities. Yesterday's +0.18% and volume jump (+45%) was before this news — today/tomorrow should be even more bullish, especially banks.

In short: CBN just turned dovish. Money is getting cheaper. This is fuel for the NGX rally that is already +60% YTD.

This matches why banks dominated trading yesterday — they knew recapitalisation + rate cut was coming.

You don't need to take any action. Just receive your 50k per share from today. It's a distribution (refund kinda) from part of your capital already in the company. Pete002 has stated the exact position. The company will do the basic accounting entry in-house.

Good afternoon NSEMPA folks

Do you have any update about Vitafoam's bonus shares allocation? Does it typically take this long before SEC grants approval?

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by essentialone1: 12:33pm On Sep 23
CBN cut *MPR to 23.00%* and *SDF to 20.00%*. That sets a new floor for interest rates.

*Translation:* Money will become cheaper to borrow, but yield on T-Bills/OMO will start to drop from ∼23-24% to *20% - 21% range*.

2. IMPACT ON FIXED INCOME — Yield Compression

- *Short end leads the fall:* NTB and OMO bills will reprice first.
- *Real yield for Foreign Investors:* Still attractive at ∼7% (down from 10%). With Naira relatively stable, FPIs will stay — that N3.03trn OMO subscription on Sept 16 proves it.
- *What next:*
- Smart investors will *lock in current high yields* now before they fall further
- Govt and companies will rush to issue *Commercial Papers and Bonds* because borrowing is cheaper
- Liquidity and how much CBN mops up will decide how fast the whole curve falls

*Bottom line for Fixed Income:* Buy now and hold. Yields are going down.

3. IMPACT ON EQUITIES — Bullish

- *For companies:* Lower interest = lower loan cost = higher profit margin = more money to expand.
- *For valuation:* Lower discount rate means future profits are worth more today. Strong companies will get re-rated higher.
- *For investors:* When T-Bill drops to 20%, that 25-30% return some people want from stocks starts to look more attractive vs fixed income. Not a massive switch, but incremental money will flow to equities.

Plus two extra tailwinds you mentioned:
1. *Dangote Refinery IPO* — pulling retail investors back to market
2. *FTSE Russell reclassification* — pulling foreign investors back

*Bottom line for Equities:* Supportive environment for the rally to continue till year-end. Focus on fundamentally strong, leveraged companies (banks, industrials, consumer goods) — they benefit most from rate cuts.

*In one sentence:*
> Fixed Income yields are peaking and will compress, Equities becomes more attractive — this is the start of a rotation, not the end.
