ghm:What about if he bought at a high price e.g. N150 or N160? |

Share reconstruction is a way of stealing shareholders shares and money at the same time. If this was on NYSE, this will be the best time to short the stock. ayobama1: |

I know. I only asked the probing question to make you think about your post. The assumption should be that they’d maintain the payout ratio they’ve been maintaining prior the reconstruction. Your initial post that I quoted would be interpreted like the bank now has to pay 10x dividend with unchanged OS, whereas they now have 10x less shares to pay out the same amount to. mikeapollo: |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by presiade(m): 12:15pm On Oct 07 |
Well, that’s a different thing entirely. My question came from a different perspective. ayobama1: |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 12:24pm On Oct 07 |
presiade:This has been considered (see my earlier post) Sterling Bank highest dividend in the last 10 years (without reconstruction) is N0.18k (for FY2024, paid in 2026). Multiplied by 10 gives N1.80 (or N2). Let's even assume it will be N3 Compare that to the dividends of other banks selling for N70-N77 |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ghm: 12:25pm On Oct 07 |
mikeapollo:Fair point. If you bought at the peak, selling now may lock in a loss or a smaller gain—that changes the calculation. But here's the thing: if you're holding a stock that's up 185% YTD and you need cash, the question isn't "did I buy at the top?" It's "what is my entry price and what is my current return?" If you're still in profit, selling a few units to meet your needs is rational. If you're at a loss, then the dividend question becomes more relevant—but you should also ask whether the stock still deserves your capital at all. And let's be clear: dividends are not sacrosanct these days. First HoldCo itself only issued its first positive ordinary dividend in three years after completing a capital raise in Q4 2025 . Even blue-chip names like GTCO cut their interim dividend to N1 per share this year . Dividend policies change with capital requirements and earnings. Don't hold a stock only for a dividend that may or may not come. The dividend obsession only makes sense if you're holding for income. If you're holding for capital appreciation and you need cash, selling is always an option—regardless of where you bought. |

vibesdot001:If the asset base has grown considerably and the EPS is high then a share reconstruction would be appropriate instead of one share on the NGX being sold at 100k |

ayobama1:Yeah, I know. But what is common in this particular instance is that both led to a reduction in the OS of the companies concerned, which should improve the EPS and DPS |

I believe you might just get your wish; but for me, I’m only interested in two banks in only about three banks on the NGX. FIRSTHOLDCO don show me shege way back, and I won’t touch it with a long pole. Also, I won’t touch ACCESSCORP for personal reasons. mikeapollo: |

OANDO is currently selling at 0.13 Rand in South Africa Stock Exchange which is equivalent to #10 naira. So those buying OANDO above #10 have themselves to blame |

megamart247:The man should just delist his company. He is using every opportunity to punish shareholders. Imagine an upstream company trading below N40 where there is no downstream company trading below N40 on ngx. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 3:23pm On Oct 07 |
thebargainhunte:It is very painful! Oando has no business selling under N200 if not for Wale. But sometimes, these things create opportunity. In the past, First Bank was selling for like N4 for about a year or more when GT, ZB etc were at N15-N20. Same for Wema at 0.50k Wale cannot have his way all the time. He go cast one day and shareholders will have their way. |

ARADEL Coded accumulations ongoing here..... Lots of picking @1377 (-10%).... No official change in price... |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by yMcy56: 3:26pm On Oct 07 |
Agbalowomeri:It's a case of at-all at-all ... I'm sure many holders might have written it off.....or some of them are not even in stock business again... * Aside brokers that will be moving the price and crossing from one acct to another, quite a lot won't even believe it's existing or can exist again 😊 |

MULTITREX IS BACK — ₦0.36 → ₦0.39 (+8.33%), hitting a new high. Who actually managed to buy it today?

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by thebargainhunte: 3:57pm On Oct 07 |
mikeapollo:He has no reason keeping the share price that low. The Brent has been trading between 80-100 dollar, yet it doesn't translate to anything good in OANDO. OANDO is more connected to the center than any other company, but they are after their own pocket without considering that the investor that gave out his money also needed good life.No dividend, no price appreciation and you want me to believe it wasn't calculated effort to frustrate the minority shareholders. First bank has never lagged behind when it comes to price appreciation, it has been following UBA and Access back then bumber to bumper. What is stopping OANDO from following ARADEL bumper to bumper? |
