It is very painful! Oando has no business selling under N200 if not for Wale.
But sometimes, these things create opportunity. In the past, First Bank was selling for like N4 for about a year or more when GT, ZB etc were at N15-N20. Same for Wema at 0.50k

Wale cannot have his way all the time. He go cast one day and shareholders will have their way.
Oando moved from N5 to N90

thebargainhunte:
He has no reason keeping the share price that low. The Brent has been trading between 80-100 dollar, yet it doesn't translate to anything good in OANDO. OANDO is more connected to the center than any other company, but they are after their own pocket without considering that the investor that gave out his money also needed good life.No dividend, no price appreciation and you want me to believe it wasn't calculated effort to frustrate the minority shareholders. First bank has never lagged behind when it comes to price appreciation, it has been following UBA and Access back then bumber to bumper. What is stopping OANDO from following ARADEL bumper to bumper?
He has a reason. The reason is that he want to corner the RI as a replacement for the shares he released as a form of repayment of Ocean and Oil (which is presently being shared to other shareholders in tranches) indebtedness to Oando. Remember the release txn was done at 90 something, so buying back same at 50 is a kill for him. So dont expect the price to go anywhere until after the RI is done and dusted.

that is one of the reason the qualifying date is already gone, even before the RI is approved by regulators (Feb 2026). Also keeping the market price below the RI price will discourage a lot of people who qualifies, which is to his own advantage. Lastly i THINK the only thing holding the RI down is maybe he has not been able to amass enough FUNDS to corner it (abt N200 billion) and i dont think this might be possible until the election is over (for obvious reason)

Exactly!
Your analysis is on point!
They have refused to announce the Phase 2 of the share redistribution exercise, all because they want to take up the RI and be qualified for the redistribution again, diluting the ratios.
I think someone has already raised these issues in a petition to the Board of Directors.
Another court case may even come up if care is not taken.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by naturalflow: 6:01pm On Oct 07

Fair point. If you bought at the peak, selling now may lock in a loss or a smaller gain—that changes the calculation.

But here's the thing: if you're holding a stock that's up 185% YTD and you need cash, the question isn't "did I buy at the top?" It's "what is my entry price and what is my current return?"

If you're still in profit, selling a few units to meet your needs is rational. If you're at a loss, then the dividend question becomes more relevant—but you should also ask whether the stock still deserves your capital at all.

And let's be clear: dividends are not sacrosanct these days. First HoldCo itself only issued its first positive ordinary dividend in three years after completing a capital raise in Q4 2025 . Even blue-chip names like GTCO cut their interim dividend to N1 per share this year . Dividend policies change with capital requirements and earnings. Don't hold a stock only for a dividend that may or may not come.

The dividend obsession only makes sense if you're holding for income. If you're holding for capital appreciation and you need cash, selling is always an option—regardless of where you bought.
nice one,thanks

@mikeapollo remember our short debate on how our reserves were depleted by Sanusi in 2008 to 2009 from $62 Billion to just around $40 Billion (all in only over one year)?
Well, he admitted it himself in this video. This should be around 2013 or 2014.

Note also that: Everything he predicted here eventually came to pass.

you see how skewed and biased your anslysis is? Oil price fell from $147 to $37 over a year and you blame Sanusi for depleting our reserves from $62b to $40b?
Show me one CBN governor in the history of Nigeria to date that was able to grow ,(or maintain) reserves when oil price felll by over 75% over a year!
The man you are solely blaming for depleting the reserves was able to keep an exchang rate of N200 to $.for about 4-5 years which helped factories and businesses to expand. What is rhe exchange rate now under your darling govt and CBN governor even when crude oil has been selling at over $80 under this govt?
What would the reserves be if oil price shoukd fall to ,$40 for a year or more?

MAN says over 700 factories have closed down because of FX rate and other policies of this current govt. I hope you are happy and roud of that as an achievement! Congratulations!

I am confused. Can a company really influence its own share price? I think the market does that.

I always thought they couldn't—except through the legal and acceptable ways: issuing more shares, reorganisation, buybacks, etc.

@essentialone1,
What are you saying?
Why do you call people short-term gamblers? These are recognised categories—globally.

By Holding Period:
Scalpers – seconds to minutes
Day Traders – within a single session, no overnight positions
Swing Traders – days to weeks
Position Traders – weeks to months
Investors – months to years

By Strategy & Analysis:
Momentum Traders – ride strong price trends
Breakout Traders – enter when price breaks key levels
Mean Reversion Traders – bet on price returning to average
News-Based Traders – react to events and announcements
Arbitrage Traders – profit from price differences across markets
Technical Traders – use charts, patterns, indicators
Fundamental Traders – analyse financials and economic conditions

By Execution:
Algorithmic (Algo) Traders – automated, rule-based execution

Investment Styles:
Growth Investing – companies expected to grow faster than market
Value Investing – undervalued stocks relative to intrinsic worth
Income Investing – prioritise dividends and cash flow
Active vs. Passive – beat the market vs. match the market

Different timeframes. Different disciplines. All legitimate.

Don't reduce us to slurs.
I have used most of the methods at one time or the other.

Are you saying we whould delve into these 10? I have a special account for speculative plays and I am open to it and they can easily fit in.
