mikeapollo:
Such huge projects will always involve loans.
He cannot possibly keep such huge funds idle in his vaults and be waiting for projects to come on stream.
So he would most likely get the huge loans to provide immediate funding for the project, and then use equity funds to repay the loans gradually. It is cheaper and safer for him to do so.
Who said anything about idle funds? If you know what lenders in the refinery in Naija went through, your question should be which international lenders apart from the African DFIs go dey ready to drop the billions in long term loans like they did for the Naija refinery?

Of course loans are needed, but he will be more careful with amount of loans this time around.

By the way, you think say e easy to get investors to give you equity to pay down loans? If the business was churning out the cash flows wey you project, why you wan dilute your ownership to bring in outsiders?

From what you have written, I doubt that you know how business works in the real world. What the hell do you mean by using equity funds to repay the loans gradually? huh

No billionaire maintains sufficient liquid capital to fund a multi-billion-dollar project entirely upfront without affecting their liquidity position. Even the wealthiest individuals typically rely on structured financing, strategic investments, asset liquidation, or phased funding to execute projects of such magnitude...

JAGABAN and INEC CHAIRMAN know the TRUTH about what happened in 2023
SonofElElyonRet:
He didn't win in 2023 and couldn't have. Also won't win in 2027 without being Atiku's vice. Not rocket science. Just an exercise in futility and wishful thinking. He's not going to get as much votes in Lagos and South West like in 2023 because of the terrible attacks by obidients on Yorubas which has cost him some considerable support. In fairness to Obi, he doesn't do tribal attacks but his followers always accuse Yorubas of supporting Tinubu just because he's Yoruba, forgetting many Yorubas voted Obi. In South East, all governors support Tinubu and will dilute Obi's block votes in Tinubu's favour. Many voters will collect money to vote for Tinubu, South East inclusive. I don't see North voting for Obi. Kwakwanso is a flyweight compared to Atiku in the North. Even Kano his base now has an APC governor. Wike is implementing his rainbow coalition and he has a lot of fct and rivers money to throw around (fubara is back to being his loyal servant).

Figures don't lie. Street, you actually entered Oando before your Oando don cast saga. I have actually seen your evidence.

This equally gave me a little bit of snippet into that your lovely portfolio of 18 stocks. From the little i was able to see, it means you have been long in the market and your average price in International Brewery, MTNN, HBM, Oando and Presco are all over 100%. Keep it up, you have some good stocks going for you there. I just wonder why you are always bitter and antagonistic most of the time.

Once again, I have been reminded that no matter how kind and generous you are to some people, they will still find a way to steal from you.

There’s this young man whom I pay generously whenever he comes to weed the grass around my house. Beyond paying him for his work, I have consistently extended different kinds of help to him, just as I do for others who work for me. Sometimes, I give him clothes. Other times, I give him extra money to take home to his aged parents.

The last time he came to weed the grass, he told me he had applied some weed-killing chemicals behind the gate to prevent the grass from growing back too quickly. He asked me to pay him N10,000 for it.

I happily paid him double that amount.

Just a week later, there was absolutely no sign that any chemicals had been applied. I thought perhaps I had misunderstood him.

Yesterday, he came to weed the grass again, and I asked him to show me exactly where he had applied the chemicals.

He pointed to the same spot and swore in Allah’s name that he had indeed applied them.

I pointed up at two CCTV cameras and asked if he knew what they were.

He said yes, that they were lights.

When I showed him the CCTV footage proving that he had not applied any chemicals anywhere in the compound, he simply looked at me and said, “Sorry, Oga.”

And that was it.

So, apparently, all this while, I had been a fool in his eyes. A generous fool whose kindness was not something to appreciate but an opportunity to exploit.

And the funny thing is that if he had simply asked me for the money, I would probably have given him more without hesitation.

But he chose to steal it instead.

And that is perhaps the saddest part of this experience. Some people will receive your kindness and, rather than feel grateful, begin to calculate how much more they can dishonestly take from you.

Indeed, generosity does not protect you from dishonest people. Sometimes, it simply makes you a more attractive target.

What a shame!

The truth is that, in this part of the world, more often than not, people misinterprete generosity for stupidity. Probably because some acts of generosity are too real to be believed.

The most notorious culprits being artisans. I remember when I bought my first car. A friend told me that to enjoy the best of your mechanic, you must be generous to him. What a falacy.
I owned an Audi 80 then and when the vehicle had a small problem and alaye knowing my ignorance simply told me the " back axle" is the problem. Back axle for a front wheel drive?

I agreed to buy. I was in warri then. He gave me a price and I just decided to call Lagos for a comparison. When I called Lagos, the man told me, " that your mechanic is wicked; change him immediately".

Examples bokku abeg.

*Regency Alliance Insurance Plc* Board meeting to approve *Q3 2026 unaudited results* (for period ended Sept 30).

*When:* *Tuesday, Oct 28, 2026*

*Closed period and insider trading ban:*
- Started *Oct 1, 2026*
- Lasts till *24 hours after filing on NGX Issuers Portal*
- Insiders + related parties *cannot trade* Regency Alliance shares during this window — standard NGX rule to prevent trading on non-public results.

Notice filed Oct 13, in line with NGX listing rules.

So results should hit the market around Oct 28 to 29. If you're holding REGENCY ALLIANCE on NGX, watch for underwriting profit and claims ratio — that's what moves insurance names.

Loans can be repaid from profits from operations. The profits (retained earnings) are part of equity.
Where and how did you misplace your notes/textbooks, Mr Prof.?
So yes, loans can be repaid gradually from equity. What may differ is the size of the loan and the repayment timelines.

This story you highlighted here is the average mentality of an average Nigerian worker. Take something to someone in an area you are not knowledgeable ( or even when you are knowledgeable), the next thing that comes to their mind is how to rip-you-off. It becomes worse when you are not around. The average Nigerian just love to cheat to eke out a living. When the situation is like this from the family, work place, market, society, church, mosque etc. Then, one wonder what kind of Government to expect.
