Most of us use coffee, rice, corn, tea, cotton, wheat, and soybeans every single day—but very few people know which countries actually produce most of them. 🌍

Some nations dominate entire global supply chains, while others specialize in just one major crop. From Brazil’s coffee and soybeans to China’s tea and cotton, these numbers show how much of the world depends on a surprisingly small group of producers.

Most African countries do subsitence farming. That's enough to feed some of the population, but not enough to feed all the population and leave surplus for exports.

If we want to be a world leader in food production, we got to have more people investing in large scale mechanized farming. That would take us to the top, but leave many small scale subsitence farmers out of work...

Malaysia and Indonesia have a climate and far more land where palm oil can be grown year round. Nigeria can only grow palm oil in the south, and the south is densley populated..which limits available land for palm oil cropping.

Note that the lad just abuses me, but offers no proof as to why I am wrong, and he is right.

It shows that he actually does not have proof, he just wants to prove that he is superior to me.

Such people are not worth engaging with at all at all

I still stand by my post, and will add that Malaysia has plantations, and some form of mechanized farming, which Nigeria doesn't have.

P.S : He better go and learn to be more polite to people. I'm blocking him too for his own good.

USA has a lot of farming that is heavily mechanized, even dairy farming for example is mechnanized from how the milk is collected to how it is processed. And farming is dominated by large corporations there.

The result however, is that a lot of farming towns have a lot of unemployed and underemployed people...because machines are taking away the farm jobs that would have needed many hands to farm on.

This is what peter obi has been saying

The north is a gold mine

In just a few years a government that knows what it's going can make us more than self sufficient in food production

Imagine only three African countries their

Even Benin republic made the list

Brazilian agriculture is mechanzied, and most of it is done by large agriculutural concerns, which in Nigeria form only ten percent of all the agriculture we do here.

Fact is, most rich nigerians don't want to do agriculture, even before the insecurity and herdsmen issues was a thing. It's risky business.
Re: The Countries Dominating Global Food Production (Photos) by tuoyoojo(m): 11:28am On Oct 26
Taraba has fertile lands for coffee and tea but they would rather wait for free money from abuja

When it comes to corn production every part of Nigeria expect the sahel region is game

Nigeria can do this

First tackle this insecurity

Then instead of these billions you spend on prado, build factory that produces mechanized farm implement

These people can enter into partnership with the govt in exchange for their land

See how things would change

For the North to be a goldmine of agriculture, it would have to replace most subsistence farming with large agrocoproations...which is something most Nigerians don't want to invest in.

Nigeria is the world leader in cassava production, as well as yam, cowpea, kolanuts, and cocoyam

We also rank high in some other food crops

• Sorghum: 2nd largest producer in the world (after the United States).
• Okra: 2nd largest producer in the world (after India).
• Ginger: 3rd largest producer in the world.
• Groundnuts (Peanuts): 3rd largest producer in the world.
• Millet: 4th largest producer in the world.
• Cocoa Beans: Top 4 to 5 global producer
