Osun begins 4-5-3 educational system tomorrow *Collapses pry, secondary schools
Written by Oluwole Ige - Osogbo
Tuesday, October 1, 2013

AS pupils of public schools in Osun State warm up for resumption on Wednesday, arrangements have been perfected by the state government to ensure successful take off of the new 4-5-3 educational system, which has culminated in the merger or re-classification of schools.

Nigerian Tribune investigation indicated that some of the newly built model schools are ready for use by the pupils, while others are still under construction.

Checks at the newly built Salvation Middle School, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, on Monday revealed that officials of the state Ministry of Education were busy inspecting the premises ahead of the commissioning ceremony of the structure on Wednesday.

At Ode Omu Elementary Model School, construction works have already been completed, just as some labourers were spotted clearing the weeds around the school as part of the preparations for resumption for the 2013/2014 academic calendar.

When our correspondent visited another elementary school, situated at Oke Baale, in Osogbo, construction works were still on-going, an indication that academic activities in that school may not be feasible when pupils resume tomorrow.

Similarly, construction works have not started at all at the premises of Osogbo Grammar School, where the state government planned to build another model school, which would accommodate pupils of different schools merged as a result of re-classification of schools.

Commenting on the preparedness of the state government over the new educational policy, yesterday, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Deputy Governor, Mr Tope Ademakinwa said 15 middle schools and 13 elementary schools have so far been completed by the government.

He assured that adequate arrangements have been made to pave way for the efficient take off of the new educational policy and resumption of pupils in public schools.

That action is against the national policy on education of the Federal Govt and NERDC.

Is it not better to present it to the federal govt and NERDC before implementation?

Well, I hope it is not true. Can states operate a different policy on education?

Shut up bro, His rascality is within the limit of Osun state or whatever y'all call it..

The truth is, the F.G will never approve this one man idea on a new education policy..

Who signed this system into law?
What date was this policy signed into law

Will Aregbesola issue his village certificates different from the internationally recognised WASCCE & others?

Will Osun pupils sit for a different SSCE and primary exam?

What will happen to the one man policy after Aregbesola's tenure?

Lol! Now I understand what you mean when you said Aregbesola operates on a "different" level...

Better go back to your caves and keep on distributing your left over opon Imo 'ipads'..

Abuja is to Nigeria..

Some1 should tell him that Nigeria is a federal state and NOT a confederacy. States cannot operate a system that falls out of line with the federal laws.
Hope he would not allow this to diminish his good deeds.

Nigerians should shun sentiments and respect the constitution....
It is explicitly stated that any law or rule that is not consistent with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is null and void.
We should learn to do things for posterity sake and not just that my brother is in charge

Is Osun state now a country in Nigeria. It is even overtaking Lagos now with its policies, formerly we ask is Lagos an island of its own in Nigeria, but it seems Aregbesola wants to make Osun State a continent in Nigeria.
How do they operate a different system from what the federation allows.

Some of these governors blazing a solo trail will only lead their people into confusion. How many years has that man got in office that he is making a policy that is so different from that of the Federal Government?

The last time I checked, the Federal Government is the one that determines education policy in Nigeria. The Osun state government should have at least consulted the Federal Ministry of Education before taking such a decision. I'm 100% sure that this arrangement will fail and in the future they will run back to the normal system that we are used to.
