"I'm sorry." He whispered, going on his knees.

"What?" I laughed sarcastically, raising an eye brow. " So you think sorry is going to wipe all these off?"

"I know its not going to, just please accept my apology." He begged.
"Go ahead then, explain yourself."

"Bimbola, I never knew she called you. Truthfully she came to my house, and I was asleep then. It was then she probably picked up the phone to call you." He explained.

"And who is she to you?"

"My Ex girlfriend." He answered, standing up from his knees. I had totally forgotten he was still on his knees.
"She still thinks we are on a break and would soon mend fences."

"And what does she think now?" I asked sounding as non challant as possible.
"Now she knows we're over and done with." He replied.

"Please let's get out of here." He pleaded.
"Okay."

I went to our table, bade my friends good bye and explained reasons I had to leave so soon to them. Of course, sade understood instantly, as she was "rooting" for us to work things out.

We left jojein hotels, and headed straight to his house. What and who I met surprised and angered me even further. I met the bose girl.

"Oh, so this is the girl you chose over me?" She asked spitefully.

"Bose, don't start please. Just leave. Go home, I'll call you later on." Deji pleaded.

"I should go home? After all the promises you made to me? Now I'm not perfect for you." She was tearing up already.

"I'm not supposed to be here." I said, and excused myself.
I stayed outside for a while, then I started hearing noises.

"What do you mean? I'm not in your league? Is this 'cause I have served and you haven't?" Bose asked accusingly.

"Calm down bose you're over reacting." Deji tried to calm her down.

"Calm down what?" She retorted. " Yes I'm working, I have served, you haven't, but It doesn't stop the love I have for you." She was practically crying now.
" You know I love you, you do, you do, and yet, you chose that tramp over me." She screamed.

Now, that's about what I could take. Did she just call me a tramp? I threw caution into the wind, and stormed back into the house.

"Madam." I said as calm as possible.
" All because things didn't work out between yourself and Deji doesn't give you the license to call me tramp. So please, withdraw your statement, and I'll gently leave."

" What if I don't?" She said screaming. " You're also serving, talking about league, you're also way higher than his level. So tell me, why did he choose you over me, why?" She shouted. I had to block my ears to prevent her noise from damaging my ear drums.

"Now let me tell you, you're also going to experience what I am experiencing right now, you low life bastard. She cursed.

I couldn't take it any longer. I slapped her.
Deji knew something else would erupt if he didn't intervene, but before he did anyway, I picked my bag, and left for my house.

I was surprised when I saw deji's car parked beside me.

"Get in." He ordered.

"Bimbola, you have every right to be annoyed, but just hear me out." He pleaded.

"I should hear you out shey?" I asked. "Oya, I'm listening. Fire on." I said.

"I'm so sorry." He pleaded again. "I didn't know she was going to be in my house. I totally forgot she had a spare key." He explained.

" Okay. I've heard you." I said, but I kept walking.

"Its late bimbola, you can't get a bike until you get to the junction. Just get into the car, and let me drop you off."

"No, I'll be fine." I said sharply.

"Okay. Then myself and the car will walk you to the junction." He joked.

"Deji, go home, I'll be fine." I said.
My phone chose that moment to ring. It was an unknown number, so I picked, but with caution.

"Hello. Good Evening please." I said into the phone.

"Hi. Its me Gbade. The guy you met at jojein hotels." He responded.

"Oh, how are you doing?" I said sweetly.

"I'm fine, but you left early. What's your name please." He asked.
"I'm bimbola." I replied.
Suddenly, I found my cell phone in deji's hands.

"This is Deji. Her boyfriend. Please don't call this number anymore." He said in a possessive manner, and cut off the phone.

"Oh my God." I spoke out loud. That was the last stray. I snatched my phone off his hands, and proceeded towards the junction. Luckily for me, I got a bike going towards Road block. I got home, locked myself in my room and had a good night sleep.

***************************************

Waking up the next morning, I saw ten missed calls on my phone. Two of which were Gbade's and the other eight from Deji. I wasn't interested in speaking with him still. On getting to work, Gbade called me again. I picked on the second ring.

"Hey." I said into the phone.

"Good Morning Bimbola. Gbade said. " Sleep well."
"Yes." I could barely force the words out of my throat. I felt embarrassed as I remembered the events from the previous night. "I'm sorry about yesterday night."
"Was that your boyfriend?"
I closed my eyes tightly for a second, and lowered my voice, barely able to endure his calm torture (his voice was so calm, and it seem like it was intentionally torturing me). "Yes, and I'm truely sorry."

"Okay, he sounded pretty protective of you." He chuckled. "So I'm a joke now abi." I said to myself.
"Yeah he is." I said, answering his question.
"Can we see today? Where do you work?" He asked, I could almost picture him smiling where he was.
"I'm serving here in akure." I said. "CAC Grammar School, Ondo Road."

"Can we have lunch together today please?" He asked. A smile teased the corners of my lips.
"Of course, it wouldn't hurt." I said. I badly needed a distraction from Adedeji.

***************************************
Lunch with Gbade was fun. He worked with the Bank of Industry Alagbaka in Akure. A very sincere and down to earth kind of guy. I was liking him already. He asked lots and lots of personal questions, which I found myself answering, partly due to his charm, and the other part, his very unique way of asking. If I wasn't careful, I would be giving away confidential information to him if I knew any.
Lunch date came to an end, I didn't want it to. Gbade offered to drop me off at the nearest bus stop to which I obliged as he was still going back to work.

"It was a very fun afternoon " he said." Can we do again this some other time?"

"Of course, we can." I replied him.
"Have you ever been to okitipupa or Ilaje?" He asked.
"No, I haven't." I said.

"Maybe we'll go sometime.". He said with a smile. "I want to get to know you more. You seem like a nice and independent person."

"I'll take that as a compliment." I said shyly. "Thank you for such a lovely afternoon."

I thanked him, got out of his car, and he drove off.

***************************************

" Babe, why did you really leave us at jojein on Sunday?" Bimpe, a very good friend of ours asked. While still in camp, we weren't really close friends. However, PPA brought us closer, and she happened to live on the other street too, that factor also brought us closer.

" I had some issues to sort out with Deji." I replied." So I had to leave early."

Sekinat the inquisitive one as usual piped in.
"Is he sleeping with some other girl?" She asked frowning.

"Something like that, I replied."
"What!" Screamed Bimpe.
"He's a mad man." Sekinat said straight up, without remorse.
"You girls should calm down na." Sade said laughing.

We were gathered in our sitting room. As usual, gossiping. We heard a sound like someone knocking on our door.

"Who's there?" Sekinat called out. Bimpe stood from her sitting position and proceeded to opening the door. There, in front of our door was the subject of the ladies' gossip. Adedeji.

******CHAPTER THREE******

"Ladies." He said, tilting his hat.
"Mtscheeew." Sekinat hissed at him.
"Deji please come in and make yourself comfortable." Sade offered.

"Of course." He replied. " But before I do, where's bimbola?" On realising he was our "Special Guest of Honour", I had disappeared quietly into my room.

"She's inside." Sade said again.
"Please come in." By that time, the ladies (Bimpe and Sekinat) had left the room annoyingly. Sade forcefully dragged me out of my room to see him.

"Hi." I murmured
"I'm sorry." Came his reply.

"You seem to be saying that a lot these days. Can't you just simply avoid things that will make you apologise unecessarily?." I asked.

"I'm not going to say anything further then." He stood up from where he had been sitting.

"Oh, that would be a good thing." I said standing up too. "Maybe you should leave. I was going somewhere with my friends."

"Oh. So its now going to be this way?" He closed the gap between us.

"Yes." I said looking away from him.

"Then I'll take my leave. But not before I do this."
He kissed me. So long, I was breathless. I broke free from the kiss, and stared at him for two full seconds.

"Leave my house." I ordered softly.
He left my house as ordered, but mehn, I couldn't get that kiss off my mind. I was already head over heels in love with him. I just needed to punish him for being too possessive and overly protective. I wondered if I made the right decision though.

***************************************

Myself and Gbade became quiet close. I didn't feel anything for him, I just liked him as my friend. The sad part was, he wanted more than I could give to him.

Two long weeks went by before I spoke with Adedeji again. By then, things were very much back to normal. His friends became my friends, and mine became his. We hadn't slept with each other as at that time. I really wanted to take things slowly. On a rainy saturday in june of that year. Something interesting and peculiar however happened.

"What are you doing in the rain.?" I asked Deji as soon as I opened the door.
The rain had drenched the sound of his knocks on the door so I didn't hear him knock. His call however called my attention to the door.

"To see you." He said giving me a kiss. "Just what I need."

I smiled on seeing him. "Why are you here then.?"
"I need to just see your face." He lied.
If I didn't know him, I would have swallowed the lie.

"What is going on?". I was getting worried, and I needed a quick reply from him to calm my fears.

"My school isn't going to mobilise me this year again?" He said sadly. " Bimbola, I finished October 2010, why is this seriously happening. I need a job that is different from a family job. Without my NYSC discharge certificate, I won't get any. I'm sincerely tired." He sighed.

I rushed to his side and enveloped him in a quick hug. He was feeling very sad. It wasn't the right time to ask for the full details. He needed a shoulder, and I was offering him mine.

"I'm so sorry about that baby." I said.

He kissed me, I kissed him back. Gbam! We had sex.

It was after he left that I realised we didn't use protection. So many questions ran through my mind. Sade wasn't home, I called her to help me out with contraceptive pills when coming. Luck stood against us, we didn't get. I did a quick calculation of my period, and found out I was in my safe period. I heaved a sigh of relief.

***************************************

"Sade." I called, she was in the kitchen making lunch.

"I feel like I need blood. I need to get blood tonic o." I told her.

She looked at me closely. Opened my palms, looked keenly as if she could see my future in it.

"Yes, go and get asthyfer." She recommended. I turned to leave the kitchen when she called me back.

"When last did you see your period?" she asked. I did a quick calculation and replied her.

"About three weeks back."
"Okay. Use the tonic first then." She said smiling.

Instantly, my head started doing mental arithmetic. Its been four weeks since we had sex. I had seen my period after that, but that was just three weeks back. My next period is the major factor in determining if I was pregnant or not.

Re: Along He Came. by MidieMeliss(f): 6:33pm On Sep 02, 2014
I said a very short prayer inwardly, and started counting the days to my next period. Days turned to weeks, and I still hadn't seen my menstral flow. I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me I was pregnant. I just knew it. I wondered how Deji was going to take it. My parents too. What was I going to tell them. I decided to call Deji and let him know what was going on. He had travelled the previous week and was due to be home that very day. I was still contemplating on calling him when my phone rang, interupting my thoughts. It was Deji calling.

"Good Afternoon." I said dryly into the phone. My voice lacking emotions.

"What's wrong?" Deji queried." That's not my bimbo's usual voice."

"Are you back?" I asked
"Yes. I'm currently around oba ile, but I need to get something at post office."

"Okay. Let me know when you're home." I said. "I miss you."
We said our good byes, and cut the call.

***************************************

Sade got home, late as usual. She noticed I was a bit withdrawn. When she couldn't take it any further, she decided to confront me.

"Do you mind telling me what's going on?" She said, walking towards me.

"Babe, I'm fine. I just need sometime to myself." I lied.
"Bimbola, if you're going to lie to any body, then it better not be me. What's going on?" Sade insisted

"Nothing." Tears were beginning to form in my eyes.
"Bimbola. Are you pregnant?" She asked without mincing words?
I could only nod.

"Oh my God." She said, covering her mouth with her hands. "Have you told Deji?"

"No." I replied. "I Have not even had a test, but I'm already two weeks late. So I'm very sure as I'm usually not late."

"Wow. Okay, let's not jump into conclusions." She adviced." I've got a home pregnancy test kit tucked somewhere in my room. Let me go and get it, so we'll be extra sure."
I nodded again. The tears were flowing freely now. I was uncertain about the future. "How will Deji take it? How will my mum take it?" Those were the questions that filled my thoughts. I was lost.

Sade came into the sitting room with the kit. I proceeded into the bathroom to use it. The test came back positive. My tears became audible. The walls around my strong self began to crumble. For the first time in a long while, I gave in to my emotions. I cried myself silly.
Sade could only hold me close and allow me cry my heart. As a rule, she felt I should let my heart out in preparation for what deji would say.

***************************************

Deji got back home around some minutes to eight 'o clock. He still made it a point of duty to check on me. Partly 'cause he missed me, and partly because I told him we needed to talk.

I cuddled up on the couch, while sade laid on the rug. There wasn't much excitement in the room. Big Brother Africa was showing on the television screen, although we weren't following. We both knew a lot was going to happen in the coming days. We just didn't know how. Deji knocked on the door, and sade went to let him in. As soon as he got into the house, sade excused herself and went to hang out with our next door neighbour. Deji suspected immediately that something was wrong.

"Hi babe." He said pecking me on the lips.
"Hey you." I responded.

"Why are you cuddled up on the sofa?" He asked. " You don't look yourself. You look rumpled." He observed.

"I'm fine." I didn't know how to tell him I was carrying a child.

I hadn't felt any bout of morning sickness and the other general pregnancy symptoms. But ever since I took the home test, I started feeling highly irritated and nauseated at the same time. I jumped from the sofa and ran as fast as my legs could carry me to the bathroom, where I threw up all I had eaten in the evening.

Deji ran in tow after me, and helped me clean up. He helped me back into the sitting room, went to my room to get a pair of slippers. When he came back, he said audibly.

"This is it. We're going to the clinic now. You have to get treated. He said.
"This is my chance." I muttered.
"What?" He asked."You said something now, what did you say?" He asked again.

"I'm pregnant." I said before I could change my mind.
"What?" He asked. A look of shock on his face.

"I'm pregnant." I repeated and sank into the sofa.
"Have you had a test? Been to the hospital and all?" He asked. He was so shocked, he was visibly shaking.
"I've had a home test, but I've not been to the hospital." I replied.
"Wear your slippers." He commanded. "We're going to the hospital." He started walking to the door.

"Wait." I said, stopping him. " The time is 9:00pm. Can't we just do that tomorrow?"

"Nope. We're going now."

The drive to the hospital was short. His car came to a halt in front of a building. I looked up and saw the sign post in front of the hospital.

"Sckye hospitals?" I exclamed "This place is expensive."

"Yes, sckye hospitals." He replied. " I use here."
He had been silent all through the drive to the hospital. I badly wanted to know what was going on in his mind, but he wasn't talking.

"Good Evening." He greeted the nurses at the reception. "I need to see the doctor on call this evening."

"Okay. For personal or health reasons?" The nurse inquired.

"Personal. I spoke with him already." Deji replied. "He knows we're coming."
The nurse directed us to the doctor's office. On getting into the office, Deji and the doctor exchanged excited pleasantries. I did a quick survey and observation of my surroundings and the actions going on, then I realise Deji must be a close friend of the doctor.

"So, here we are. What's the next step?" Deji asked the doctor.
"Yes, Bimbola, how are you doing?" He asked, turning to face me.

"I'm okay."

"I've heard so much about you from Deji." He said smiling. "When last did you get your period?"

"Six weeks ago." I replied.
"Okay." He replied, and wrote something down on the sheets in front of him. Then summoned the nurse.
"Staff Ola, please come over here."

"I'm here sir." The nurse replied

"Please open a file for bimbola. Then take a sample of her blood, and run a PT (Pregnancy Test) on her." The doctor instructed.

"Okay Sir." She said, and motioned for me to stand up.
"I'll be waiting here." Deji said, and gave me a smile.
The nurse opened the file as instructed. Took a sample of my blood and ran the test. I was made to wait at the reception while she ran the test results.

Several minutes passed, a man came into the room where I was sitted, nodded his greetings to the nurse on sit, and asked for the patient who required an ultrasound scan. Apparently, the doctor had summoned the sonologist's immediate attention. I wasn't surprised. I was sure Deji knew about it.

The sonologist spoke no word all through the scan. He only took notes in his pad. Two minutes later, he asked me to stand, and directed me back to the waiting room. After which the nurse directed me back to the doctors office.

The test results and the ultrasound scan observations had already gotten to him, as I could see the look on Deji's eyes.

"The results came back." The doctor said.
"You're about eight weeks gone." The doctor continued, confirming my fears.
"Okay." I barely managed a whisper.
Deji woke me from my state of shock when I heared him thank the doctor. "Thanks Tunji." He said. "We'll talk later on." He bade him good night and held my hand as we walked towards the door.

"Good night." I said too.

***************************************

"Should I drop you off at home? Or you'll come with me to my house?" He asked me on getting into the car.

"Take me home." I said with anger in my voice. I didn't know where the anger was coming from, I was just angry with him.

"Which of the homes?" He said attempting a joke. "My house is your home too now you know."

"What are we doing about this pregnancy?" I asked.

"We'll keep it." Came his shocking reply.

I had never attempted abortion or gotten pregnant before. But I was so sure he was going to ask me to get rid of the pregnancy.

"What did you just say?" I asked like I didn't hear his earlier statement.

"We'll keep it." He repeated. " Although, I'm not ready for this. There's a lot of issues I need to sort out in my life. I'll still keep the pregnancy."

I was in tears now. I couldn't believe my ears.
"Don't cry oo. I don't want that." He said. Parking by the roadside, he turned to face me, and enveloped me in a big bear hug.

"I love you. And I promise we'll work things out." He said, kissing me.
I badly wanted to believe that, but I knew something was going to go wrong.

***************************************

The next morning, I told sade all that happened the previous night, as I couldn't say much when I got home from the hospital.

She looked at me and ask me the most important question no one had bothered to ask.

"What do you want?"
"I just want to sleep for a week." Came my reply.
She chuckled." You've not lost touch. I called my PPA and said I wasn't going to be in today. I intend to be here with you all day." She said. I had also called in sick at my PPA.

"You don't have to do that sade. I'm very fine." I was so grateful for her offer.

The days following were so challenging for me. The bouts of sickness were pretty intense. It wasn't only mornings. It was a twenty four hour thing for me.

Deji made it a duty to come check on me everyday for two weeks, then I didn't hear from him any more. He had disappeared into thin air.

I called his mobile severally. Sometimes it would ring and then signal busy. Sometimes it would be turned off.

"Deji isn't picking up." I told sade one evening, when I couldn't take it any longer.

"Did you try calling him with a different line?" She asked.
"No. I didn't." I answered. " What's the point?"
"Call him with my line." She offered.
I dialed his number. He picked on the first ring.

"Hello." I said into the phone.
"Yes who is this?." Came the response.
"Deji, this is bimbola. Why haven't you been picking?" I asked him.
"See, I'm busy right now, I can't afford any intrusion. Don't call me till I call you." He said sharply.

I cut off the call immediately. I didn't need anybody to tell me something was wrong. I knew it instantly. Something was definately amiss.

I stopped calling him right after his outburst. I gave him the much needed space. Two days later. My beloved Adedeji came visiting. This time, he didn't come alone, but in the company of his best friend Segun. I wasn't in our flat, only sade was indoor. She had encouraged me to go and visit with our neighbour as I was looking so dull and not my usual self. Sade came into the flat and notified me of deji's presence. I must admit, I wasn't sure if I wanted to see him. I hadn't spoken to him in two days, and as far as I was concerned, it was over between us. I just wanted to carry the child in my belly in peace and deliver with joy.

"Good evening Segun." I said, greeting his friend.
"Good evening bimbo." He smiled. " Hope the twins are kicking?"
I laughed. "Yes oo."
"Deji, how are you?" I asked turning to face him.

"I'm fine." He replied. "But we need to talk right now. Can we get somewhere more private.?"

"No. Go on, say whatever you want to say here."

"We came with respect to the pregnancy." His friend took over from him. " Deji can't handle this for now. My own suggestion is that you end the pregnancy."

I laughed. I laughed so hard tears started falling freely on my cheeks.

"Okay." I went to the kitchen filled a glass with tap water, and gulped it down my throat.
"Is that the reason you're here?" My voice was already a strain to my own ears. I was getting weak from the whole events of the past weeks. I needed a break.

"Yes." Deji replied, fumbling with his phone.

"You don't even have the guts to tell me that yourself Adedeji Williams." I said through clenched teeth. " You had to involve your best friend in doing this. I'm so disappointed in you."

"Bimbola. Think about this." It was his friend speaking now. " You're still serving, you don't have a proper job yet. Deji hasn't even served, he doesn't even know when he will. Don't you think a child will put you both at a disadvantage?"

I was raging with anger. I stood up from my sitting position and calmly walked towards the door. I held it open, and practically walked both of them out.

"Deji and Segun. Please leave. I don't want to be held responsible for my next action." I warned.

"Bimbola. If you insist on keeping this pregnancy, then have it your way." He said. "But I must warn you, you're strictly alone in this. I'm not responsible for this pregnancy, and for the child when its out." With that, himself and his friend walked out of the house.

Sade came in immediately, and quickly held me before I sank to the floor. I was so sad and scared at the same time. I didn't know when the tears started flowing again. I was in deep mess.

"What am I gonna do?" I asked through tears. "How am I gonna tell my mum?"

"Its alright babe." Sade said soothingly. She was tearing up already. She had heard the whole converstaion too.
"Everything's going to be fine. Trust me." She said again.

I allowed her hold me. I felt so much comfort having a friend like her by my side.
