As an atheist can you marry a Christian, especially those of you in Nigeria where most people are religious, when I was a Christian we were warned never to be yoked with unbelievers, and it's hard to find a good looking guy who isn't a Christian, when you tell them you're a non believer they look at you like a devil worshiper.

I also have this same view, but finding a very liberal one in Nigeria is 'mission too difficult'.

A true christian won't marry an atheist. They think we're all blind fools. And again, our own atheist bible says "do not be unequally yorked with believers" . Thinkam, there will be a lot of clashes, eg child rearing, what will you teach your kids, creationism or big bang/abiogenesis? Bigotry or freethinking?

Probably 'christians' that can't rightfully divide the word of truth.

Because it would not end well. I don't mind people with a general belief in a vague god, but I could not handle someone who sees Jesus on a piece of toast.

This is very simple for anyone to comprhend, no two people can end up in such relationships if they dont agree irrespectiive of their religion.

Sameness means regression. Diversity means progress. This is manifest in biology, physics, chemistry, psychology and sociology.

Nature favors opposites and diversity.

Infact I can make the argument that the reason sub-sahara Africa lagged behind in progress was because we late in infusion of variety and diversity into our civilizations.

Therefore, your bible is wrong on that count.

It is not just about two people co-existing, rather it is a statement you are making about yourself as a Christian and how your religion governs your relationship with other people of different faiths and convictions.

I actually went to church to woo her.
I still sometimes drive her to , or pick her up from church.

The funny thing is that sometimes my wife and I mock religion together and laugh it out.
I have come to realize that she, as well as many people, especially in Nigeria are religious because the society did not and does not provide for or allow the growth of alternative worldviews.

She is intrigued , and even thrilled with the fact that I represent an alternative worldview different from the only one she has ever known.

I do live in Nigeria, though I do spend considerable time abroad.
And yes, her friends and church members are shocked that she could be happily married to an atheist.

It is only her mother and father that she keeps the knowledge from.

Believe me, most people in Nigeria think that atheists are aliens from another planet ruled by satan. lol

While most are scared and spiteful, many others are intrigued and curious to probe my mind to see what manner of devil occupies it.

you see, your confusion still reeks , I didn't say religion, I said RELIGIOUS GROUPS. Christians are different from these because of our encounter with Christ. religious groups only worship their deities from vagueness. But when you get close to Jesus Christ you will know what a LIVING God is

Christians are followers of Christ and those who have had and have close encounter with Him. through Him they communicate with God. they souls are secured in the afterlife to be with God eternally.
