Please I will be glad if I get the opinion of a human resource personnel here. I went for a job interview today and after passing the written test, I couldn't scale through the oral test. While preparing for the interview, I browsed possible questions that I might be asked and on the question "may we meet you", I read that I should just give a brief introduction (not more than 3 sentences) about myself and the qualities I possess that can likely get the job done. According to the material, the interviewer will then, proceed from there by asking questions on how I could utilize those qualities in doing the job. Lo and behold, same question was asked and when I gave what I thought was a good introduction, the interviewer was like " huh? Is that all?". Mehn! At that point, I lost guard and the rest is now history. Please, can somebody educate me on how best to answer that question so that I would do better in my next interview. Thanks in advance.

. Those are the things everyone would say, if u say those, you wouldn't captivate the employer, cos he hears those same things from almost every applicant. The question "can we meet u?" means in other words, "sell urself to us" the best way to answer it, is to tell the interview all the above mentioned detalis, and quickly add the qualities you possess that u feel would make u excel on the job.

i have worked with....where i performed....roles from this year to this year. Thank you!

I forgot that. But most times, that's a "why should we hire you" answer. It is good to put it at that point but don't make it long, cos you wld still be asked that...so it won't just be a repetition. I believe each skill/quality should also go along with every detail mentioned. Eg. I studied XX in XY where I finished with a 1st class, I also was d president of my dept association, I served in XX state where I did this and that...etc. But don't sound boastful, be subtle.

I did an interview lately and I was asked that, ok?

@ALL: most times, it depends on the mood of the interviewer, some want details & some are in a rush...so when you are answering them, maintain a good eye contact and observe their countenance. When you are through, they might even ask for more. In my case, I was asked about family background after all my details. So if you are not asked specifically about family background, don't bother.
Expect any form of question & don't feel unsettled. So, it's all about the interviewer's mood. They are not always the same and do not expect what worked for interviewer A to work for interviewer B all the time. Good morning.

Its simply the summary of ur CV. Briefly emphasize ur experience and stylishly chip in ur areas of achievement.

Just tell her ''ohh, thatz all for now'' or humbly add few more .... It is normal to goof But how you correct your errors is the most important !!! .... Be bold and confident !!

All those thing will be rambled within 30seconds ....be brief and tis better for them to ask u 4 more than you keep talking !!

If they ask 4 more ..... Tell them more :

Mention your skills and experiences and relate them with how beneficial it is to ''NNL'' (nairaland Nig Ltd) then shut up !

Mention your strength and weaknesses ( then shut up ) :

they are all about you .....

Don't talk more than a minute or two when answering questions , make it interactive like a conversation with elderly friendly person , you don't wanna steal the whole show nor spoil the show through your responses !!

Well, thank you all for your insightful contributions. Before reading that piece of information online, I knew I was supposed to answer that question by giving a summary of my CV. But atimes we make mistakes while trying to be too meticulous. Anyway, that's by gone. I know I would do better next time.

Why are interviewers lazy these days? Why would you invite someone for an interview after going through their CVs only to ask "May we meet you?".
Here's what; mention your name and qualifications that can help you on the job briefly and chip in previous job experience and hobbies that will make you outstanding on that job. Emphasis on briefly. No long story!
