Buhari was asked to articulate his proposal in dealing with some of the issues you mentioned above, it seemed as if he didn't envisage those questions never mind have answers to them. GEJ is a disaster no doubt but I don't think Buhari will do any better. For those that believe strongly in his ability to deal with corruption, he has to deal with the NA and unfortunately for him, he no longer has a khaki and koboko to hand o.

We are caught between a rock and a hard place if GMB and GEJ are our only options sad
Please when are where was Buhari asked to articulate his proposal? Please provide a link. Thanks.

let's not forget that buhari has a history of delegating responsibility, idiagbon was almost like a second president under Buhari. Buhari can pick a younger and vibrant VP (fashola) and it would be a win win for us in terms of administration.

In fact....Buhari administration was the only one referred to jointly with his deputy.....

The Buhari/Idiagbon government..shows you that the man delegates and a team player.

According to you Buhari's henchmen made Gejs administration ungovernable yet Gej hasnt arrested and prosecuted anyone of them. Desnt that give credence to the fact president jonathan is weak and clueless.

The same GEJ that gave Hamzat Al-Mustapha; General Sanni Abacha's hitman a presidential pardon.

The same GEJ that withdrew the corruption charges against Mohammed Abacah, Generla Sani Abachas Son so that that the latter can contest in the Kano Gubernatotial election under PDP

The same GEJ that has a camaraderie with Ali Modu-Sheriff the founder of Mohammed Yusuf's Boko Haram
No! He is not weak nor clueless.

As usual, OP has reasoned from an ethnocentric perspective
How did the OP reason from an ethnic perspective?

The last time i checked, the OP is a Yoruba whose number one prefered candidate according to this thread of his is Oby Ezekwesili, an Igbo woman

The Op is an Ijebu man whose number two prefered candidate is Governor Ifashola, an Awori man.

The Op is a yoruba whose number three prefered candidate is Buhari a Fulani man.

So what is ethnocentric/tribal about his thread?

Give me a hug son and for the record I am personally not sold on the integrity 'ish'. As much as I cannot stand El-Rufai, I'd much rather have him as president than Buhari. Anyone who watched the debate of the 2011 elections between GMB, Ribadu and Shekarau and still wants Buhari as president needs his head examined.

Madam, you have to shun idealism and, for now, view issues pragmatically and realistically in eelation to want obtains today and what Nigeria must do to get back on track. Let us not fool ourselves. 2011 proved conclusively that Buhari is one of the very few leaders who can defeat GEJ who is a champion of corruption many will fight for and defend with their wealrh and sweat. I supported Ribadu in 2011 yet how well did he do? Should we gamble again, lose and get another 4 years of corruption-centred misrule because we want to be "forward thinking ", perhaps because we are in the educated and politically sophisticated minority, when the majority who will vote think very differently to me and you?

With Buhari we have the twin benefits of hosting a guaranteed vote-winner who will also shun corruption and , most importantly, empower the most talented to lead everywhere. It is not about wanting an Obama or Cameron-type President because that is what our world view of progress indicate to us personally. This is the mistake some of us made in 2011 and Nigeria suffered terribly for our elitist refusal to face the reality of our own people. It is about recognising the reality of Nigeria and working with that reality pragmatically till we can have a nation and electorate that will routinely embrace the Ribadus and Fasholas of the world for our top job. We are not at all at that level and must not fool ourselves that this is the case merely because a few of us would go out to vote an Utomi or EL-Rufai. This is the time to drop individual ego and think in terms of what is best for Nigeria and who the majority will embrace in what is now a desperate fight to rescue our nation from a corrupt and private jet-owning oligarchy.

What link? If you did not watch the debate na you know Youtube may be able to come to your rescue sha. I watched both debates; GEJ shamelessly debating himself and Ribadu, Shekarau and Buhari after GEJ chickened out of the joint one. The clear winner that night was Shekarau if anyone remembers.

"Ordinary stealing isn't corruption"........How daft do statements come

He came out in public to say this and I'm sure thieves cheered because the president understands them.

I'll vote for Buhari, he's not the best but anything to escape this current situation.

You want to talk about Nigerian politics without the realities of ethnic sentiments in 2015?

As much as I wish, this country is not yet United States of Nigerians

And what has ethnic sentiment achieved for us as one nigeria? Are we as Nigerians held hostage by our lingustic difference becos wen it comes to ethicity we are all Africans.

If we continue to allow people like urself that are not ready to embrace change take the lead then we will never attain the status of United States of Nigeria.

U have to understand that their are no quick fix to governance and development challenges.

U have to understand that power has no base, else Obama will not be President.

There are people in America that condemn Obama and say he is a failed President but America will never allow them take centre stage becos those people are identified as regressive.

what does having a man that ruled over ur parents rule over you say about the level of stagnation in our society.

First it was OBJ who ruled in the 1970s and now it is Buhari who ruled in the 1980s, then u complain of unemployment?

U seriously need to reassess ur priorities bro.

Let me end on a light note with something I observed here on Nairaland and other social media; anytime Buhari’s name is mentioned I see PDP supporters and Jonathanians suddenly become special consultants/advisers for the oppositions on how to choose the best presidential candidate. They will suggest 'better' candidates, analyse how Buhari is unelectable and how Buhari’s candidacy means easy passage for Jonathan. But IMO, I think they are afraid of Buhari. If they are sure Buhari is a walk-over for Jonathan, they will be encouraging the opposition to field him rather than advising them to choose another.

Thanks for reading.

GEJ is a disaster only to the extent that he is not a good orator. That much I can readily admit.
As far as performance is concerned he is better than all previous presidents in our recent history and the state governors of the so-called opposition trying to replace him at the centre.

His SYSTEMATIC approach rather than Ad-Hoc, media-friendly-but-yielding-little-results attack on corruption has yielded greater results in the federal administration's delivery of infrastructure that were hitherto budgeted for annually but never done.

Moreover our legislators are constitutionally empowered to investigate and impeach the president, state governor and (I believe) even the LGA chairman just as the US Congress impeached Bill Clinton. For those who may not be aware, our 1999 constitution is almost a carbon copy of the American constitution. Below is an excerpt on Clinton's impeachment by the US House of Representatives =>

Independent counsel investigation

The charges arose from an investigation by Independent Counsel Ken Starr. Originally dealing with the failed land deal years earlier known as Whitewater, Starr, with the approval of United States Attorney General Janet Reno, conducted a wide ranging investigation of alleged abuses including the firing of White House travel agents, the alleged misuse of FBI files, and Bill Clinton's conduct during the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former Arkansas government employee, Paula Jones. In the course of the investigation, Linda Tripp provided Starr with taped phone conversations in which Monica Lewinsky, a former White House Intern, discussed having MouthAction with Clinton. At the deposition, the judge rejected the plaintiff's lawyer's definition of the term "sexual relations" that Clinton claims to have construed to mean only vaginal intercourse. Judge Wright then told the attorney's they could be as explicit as necessary in asking their questions. They chose to ask only if he had sex with Monica Lewinsky, thus making his testimony that he had not done so honest.

A much-quoted statement from Clinton's grand jury testimony showed him questioning the precise use of the word "is." Contending that his statement that "there's nothing going on between us" had been truthful because he had no ongoing relationship with Lewinsky at the time he was questioned, Clinton said, "It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the—if he—if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not—that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement". Starr obtained further evidence of inappropriate behavior by seizing the computer hard drive and email records of Monica Lewinsky. Based on his conflicting testimony, Starr concluded that Clinton had committed perjury. Starr submitted his findings to Congress in a lengthy document (the so-called Starr Report), and simultaneously posted the report on the internet, replete with lurid descriptions of encounters between Clinton and Lewinsky. Starr was criticized by Democrats for spending $70 million on an investigation that substantiated only perjury and obstruction of justice. Critics of Starr also contend that his investigation was highly politicized because it regularly leaked tidbits of information to the press, in violation of legal ethics, and because his report included lengthy descriptions which were humiliating yet irrelevant to the legal case.

More from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_of_Bill_Clinton

More importantly our democratic space has grown significantly under his leadership with greater INDEPENDENCE of the other arms (legislative & judiciary) of the federal government as well as the other tiers (states & LGA).

The big question we should ask ourselves as citizens of this potentially great country is how have we used the expanding democratic space to make our elected public servants more responsive to our legitimate needs.

Can we ever have a situation in America whereby Gerge W Bush senior returns to contest for Presidency?

Can we have a situation in Britain that Tony Blair will return to contest for Presidency?

Can we have a situation in South Africa when Thabo Mbeki will return to contest for Presidency?

Can we have a situation in Ghana where Jerry Rawlings wil return to contest for Presidency?

Only in Nigeria do we have grannies running for president as former president.
