Can you rephrase your question?

If you are talking local market, why not?

Give us those things i listed above including power and we would be completing with China in 10 yrs

Yes, I am talking about locally and given the strategic position of Nigeria in WA I reckon it would be quite a task.

What lame suggestion did you make?

It must have been invisible so much so that it cannot be seen by the n4ked eye.

At least on this thread, your female compatriot suggested Ribadu, El-rufai, Kwakwanso et al. Who did you suggest? Were you thinking it in your brain but failed to transmit to your fingers on the keyboard?

chulla12:
The common sense suggestions I made in this thread, which were specifically addressed to Asoozy will continue to be ignored while the same repetitive demands for alternatives from robots like you will keep running like tap water.

We now know how you guys operate here.

You all see what I am saying?

These people are like Automatons o. Now I am being prodded by an APC employee who assumes that I am pro-PDP even when I lambasted both parties here in this thread.

These APC and PDP people want us to think that there are only 2 possible scenarios when we could demand for more from these parties or even look outside, if possible.

like seriously why are these APC and tinubu buttlickers antagonising and trying to force their opinion on anyone who does not buy them? Your level of hatred and desperation is out of this world. Debosky, all4naija, naijababe, ochula, you have all spoken well, dont mind those apostles and footsoldiers of the overtly desperado (buhari)who try to convince you other wise.

lmao at mofos talking about integrity....thesame buhari who spoke on national television after the 2011 which he lost that that was the last election he would contest, what happened to that statement? why is he hell bent on contesting again?. like seriously, this was thesame power drunk desperado that truncated nigerias democracy in 1983, the same man that denied Tai solarin his medication and tortured him, jailed a froemost journalist then Nduka Irabor, arrested Fela etc etc, what about the missing $2.5dollars under PTF? This same man wanted amnesty for boko haram...lol, a religious fanatic and extremist that promised us that 'dogs and baboons will be soaked in blood', no wonder he kept mute when corp members were slain and butchered in 2 days by his supporters in his home state(katsina) after he lost the 2011 elections and he never called them to order?.

At almost 75, Like seriously? buhari wants to rule nigeria by all means again. Please can someone tell me what he forgot in aso rock that he wants to go back and pick? So buhari is the only presidential material in APC, that being the case then long live Goodluck Jonathan ....till 2019 cool

Okay, here and now, make your demands to the parties.

Who would you rather see run?

What are their names? Or are you not sure? Are you saying they should field younger bloods that even you yourself do not know?

Will you be willing to come forward to contest? I believe Obiagelli asked you these latter questions too?

Oya put your money where your mouth is.

Asking for solutions my nyash! How about:

APC and PDP inviting and nominating fresh leaders with a history of better performance? Aren't Fashola, Soludo, Ribadu, Donald Duke and co other options now? Why must it be GEJ or Buhari? You must be a paid lackey to demand for better alternatives for these 2 losers, an answer which even you know can be resolved in your dumb political parties.

How about Youths and adults making a unilateral decision to boycott votes in 2015 since APC and PDP are adamant about providing us with foolish choices while demanding for alternatives that everyone knows THEY can also provide?

What happened to our younger ones actually going out and forming political parties, nominating fresh faces with a proven track record? Instead of going from forum to forum as paid ewarriors like yourself, using smokescreens to hide the truth about your paymasters by being insulting while asking for so called alternatives to the problem YOU are causing?

Huh?!

I am trying to keep an open mind about Buhari, but I am super concerned about his policies and what solutions he intends to proffer to our myriad of problems. I am admit I have not gotten around to reading some of your suggestions on dealing with NASS and our dubious executive but then aside from 'credibility' what else is Buhari bringing to the table? The man has enough baggage and swapping a thieving leader for an ignorant one is not making progress in my books. They are both going to be disasters!!! You need more than good intentions to be a good and capable leader!

Show me his policies in a format i can understand, heck! it can even be in cartoons, I will read it and draw my conclusions. Unlike many here, I lived through Buhari's regime even if I was a child. I still remember a lot of things about that regime I would not wish on Nigerians.

Iyalode, another thing I like about Buhari is his ability to identify capable hands and delegate powers to them without competing for limelight with them. From the coup that brought him to power, he requested the people behind the coup to allow him choose his deputy outside the team when they asked him to lead them after Bako was killed, and Buhari chose Idiagbon. Also he found capable hands like late Dora Akinyuli while heading PTF to get the job done.

I expect he will do that again if he is voted to power... honestly with the likes of Fashola in his cabinet running the show, it will matter less to me if he has to spend a week every month to rest due to old age.

And to pull out if WTO!

Or better still copy the Chinese model and set up a special trading zone where the market will set policies for in as much as your elites still subscribe to the Washington consensus in its main government your country will still continue in slavery and you will never thrive. What you need is a string leader to see these anomalies and have the tenacity to say 'enough is enough'. Until we break from the shackles of neo-colonialism we cannot and will not move forward! You might have all the teaming workforce, all the resources but if WTO tells you that you must open your market to cheaper china products or cheaper American products you cannot thrive because however much your teaming workforce produces, their prices will still be undercut by competition!

What is the good of a vibrant workforce today that can be easily crippled by disease tomorrow. Take a look at Liberia and what is happening to its economy because it's workforce has been crippled by Ebola. Guess who wins, yes, the west, because by the time they come up with their patented vaccine which cannot be copied and reproduced at a reduced rate, the Africans will be forced to pay exorbitant price for it and uncle bob goes back to the west smiling.

My long rant is that we need a strong character in the mould of GMB who has passion for the betterment of Nigeria to say no to these gross inhumanity against its people. Someone who will protect the local markets. Minimise ISI but maximise ESI.

China and South Korea did it, so we can do it.

Buhari can do it.

No wonder your senile suggestion was not given a look-in. You have suggested predominantly southern candidates bar one Northern one. If you were not so slow you will understand that we are going by federal character and had your ogogoro president not reneged on the PDP agreement to rotation, it will be the northerners turn to govern in 2015. APC is keeping to that agenda for the same of equality peace and unity, it is fielding a northerner as president so your Fashola, Duke suggestion were dead in arrival. While of course I do not disagree that Fashola and Dule are perfect candidates, if true peace and unity and the continuation if the entity called Nigeria is what we seek, we will be pragmatic in our choices.

Except of course you were never interested in the change from the status quo but to frustrate this democratic process.

Youths of Nigeria! I have said this again and again. These people are paid political agents that are here to throw in distractions, lie, distort and manipulate you into boxing your options to two routes of continued failure and destruction. Until you all sit up and think for yourselves, these people will think up only GEJ vs Buhari, or North vs South, or PDP vs APC for you.

I think my position is clear. Follow these goons at your peril (although I already know that Nigeria is on the way to hell).

How does suggesting southerners absolve you from being a PDP hack? Is Jonny boy not a southerner?

Believe what you will, I am not for APC nor am I for PDP but as the only eligible man is running on the platform of the APC, I will support him all the way! Moreso, it is this same party that houses Fashola a proven effective leader in all ramifications so tell me why I would want to pitch my tent with Jonathan a know devil over Buhari and Fashola who are saints in my world?

I think even you, as dense as you appear will agree that it's a no-brainer!

Interesting submission. However, in as much as I believe anything, even a rabid dog, would be better than the incumbent weasel, this man is just too old to govern a country like a Nigeria. APC had all the time in the world to prop up a younger and charismatic candidate, through media campaign. Yet they never did that. Obviously, power should go back to the North - but is this the best Northern Nigeria can offer? I shudder!

When all the arguments in support of a candidate are solely based on nostalgia. Especially during a period when majority of the populace were not born - then it becomes problematic. History has a way of making the past look better than it was, especially when the present is ugly. That's basically when the emotions about "the good old days" take control, since the "new day" is what's happening in the present and can be easily accounted for. Also, since running a government is more of a collaborative/group work, and not an individual thing - and he'll most likely be surrounded by a new team, with a lot unbridled vultures and oligarchs in modern Nigeria, whose interests must be protected. Coupled with the fact that certain methods that were tolerated back then, won't be acceptable today. You have to ask if he'll be able to bring this nostalgic feelings back to modern Nigeria (that's if they're not being exaggerated). I'll just keep my fingers crossed to see how everything plays out.

However, I'd say he looks like a sure bet, and I believe GEJ's time is up. Heck, even the Anglo-American powers and owners of the world don't like GEJ's face. And it's evident to discerning minds. Furthermore, I just hope he'll select a decent VP, since I doubt he'll be able to survive old age (not wishing him death, just talking about mother nature here).

Electing Buhari would be retrogressive, even with all of GEJ's failings I would not support an ageing man whose only claim to credibility is 'integrity' from way back in the early-mid 80's when probably half the Nigerians alive right now were not even born.

I don't really doubt his integrity, but clearly we need far more than just integrity at this moment. Buhari's utterances on violence in the North are not exactly palatable (albeit blown out of proportion by the PDP). Nonetheless he is not a suitable candidate - he is from a different era and should be mentoring younger candidates.

I think we can do much, much, better.

WRONG!
what we really need now is integrity, that's what has been lacking in our successive leaders. progress starts with the head. If the head is corrupt, corruption is waht you see everywhere. We need a president who has proven integrity( not the type of integrity we see on all campaign posters) so that whoever will work with him is left with no choice than to exhibit integrity.

Now, this is what a counter argument ought to look like.

I agree with you that APC indeed had all the time to field a younger candidate but given the period of time the old parties were amalgamated into APC, it wouldn't have been feasible to bring a fresh face from the north who didn't have Fashola's track record. This would mean that at the time APC was formed, there would have been a very popular governor or minister of the Northern extraction who was blazing trails. APC was not lucky to have had this. What it did have though was an experienced horse who had been in races and had been favourited on every outing with increasing popularity. That is what Buhari is.

Had the race been for a southerner, then Fashola without the shadow of doubt would have been the obvious choice but it isn't so why throw the goodwill of Buhari away, which is guaranteed to bring votes all because we want to appear as forward thinkers. Politics is about power and control and to get that you must rake in the votes. Bringing a fresh faced young northerners in now will ensure that power does not move from Jonathan. Right now, we cannot afford that.

@Op your write-up summed up my opinion on 2015 general elections. I voted GMB on two occassions knowing well that he will not likely win the election but believing that i have satisfied my conscience in voting the right candidate. After the 2011 general elections i thought it was time for GMB to drop his ambition of becoming president again. Many of us who share this view feel that GMB should have by now groomed a younger, progressive nigerian to take up the struggles.
In my opinion Fashola would have been the best candidate but for what Op hilighted.
One person I thought the Op should have mentioned is the Governor of Kano State, I think many political commentators tend to under report his massive achievements in Kano, he too will be an excellent candidate for the opposition.

Finally, I will want PDP voted out comes 2015 irrespective of who the opposition field as candidate. What we are seeing today from PDP - led government is because they are sure Aso Rock belongs to them but when no political is guaranteed success during any presidential race, the party will ensure that only credible and electable candidate emerge as it's flag bearer.

OAM4J seems almost apologetic for supporting Buhari.

At this stage of our life as a nation, I think we should start addressing issues frontally especially we the educated class. The 2 major Presidential candidates should have at least 3 Presidential debates where the big issues that affect this nation would be thrashed and people can make enlightened decisions on who to vote for.

Sadly though, a mere promise of N500 will be more than enough to swing millions of votes on election day and until people stop mortgaging their future for incredibly ridiculous prices, Nigeria will not achieve the greatness it should as of right because riggers would then finish the job the people themselves started on election day.

We can't wait and allow the old dictators come back again with their schemes to ruin the country further and leave the population in poverty and primitiveness.

I dont think apologetic is the right word. I wish there is a younger more versatile Buhari, but in the absence of that, I still prefer this Buhari by faaaaarrrrrrrr to Mr Stealing-is-not corruption, even if Buhari were to be 80 and above.

The word "almost" moderates the degree of my description to the point of virtual negation.

I was just wondering if you really needed to outline the deductive process that lead you to supporting Buhari.

Anyway, most Nigerians know that he is the kind of man we need to set Nigeria on the right path but too many people are dubious and would rather want to perpetuate this abysmal status quo.

Let us see where it will lead us. I must give it to the man though, he keeps giving us an opportunity to save ourselves from ourselves.
