Yes one of my partner was with me in Truerebel.....To clear the air on my business, as a young recruit in true rebel i was privileged to have a one on one discuss with the boss as we fondly called him...He would bare me witness that since day one i had told him i had business ideas that towed towards fashion....He mentioned that i shud tell noone that d idea was now his...he told me we would implement the idea in d next 4 months and he will make me head that dept....After four month, i was sacked, company was in no way close to implementing the idea...And here i am with a partner and a foreign investor bringing to pass my ideas plus experience....
How is this a fault of mine people?

You were fired because from your previous writeups I presume your former employer caught you and your former colleagues shopping on his to retrieve secret business information from him.

Child, I have nothing against you or your wanting to start your own business. My problem with you was and is still the manner you called out your former employer and blasted him and his business. It was uncalled for. This is a public forum and the damage you have caused than man and his business can never be reversed. I know he probably has lots of flaws but for crying out loud, a public medium was the wrongest place to vent your annoyance. The man braced up and changed his business name because of the damage you caused and you still went after him.

Put yourself in his position. How will you feel if an employee of yours does same to you.

Don't let anyway deceive you, if this issue gets more serious (legal and physical) all these your rented supporters will all disown you. Then you will realize you won't even have an ant to stand as a witness for you.

If u have followed the thread you will notice am not the kind of guy that trades words. If you ask for prove and i oblige your request by asking to send to your mail my CV...what private discussion is that?

You have said a lot on this thread so I do not understand what you mean. I asked you a few questions and you asked for my email? That is absolutely nonsensical. You had no problem divulging your ex employer's business dealings on this thread but you want to provide answers to personal questions I asked you in a private email?

Am a man of precision, if you have better comments than the egocentric questions you asked earlier, bring them forward. I did be glad to tell you what i know.

I dont know you so I have no idea how precise you are. I asked you simple questions and you are really struggling in providing simple answers. I guess you do not know the meaning of egocentric because it has no bearing whatsoever to the queries. You come across as bold, why are you suddenly being defensive?

Am not Perfect, I have learnt one or two things from the discuss but am also sure the Mission which was to get Truerebel to repent from its evil ways has been well achieved...If you ask me...Changing from Truerebel to Fashionhands is a clear show of guilt and repentance ....All I can say is that Besides the name change, there should be a corresponding change in pattern.

I do not care about your dealings with Treurebel or whatever it is called! My argument here is about your motive and you succinctly provided the answer in your post- this is not an educational exercise, it is not an instructional endeavor. It is just an attempt to exercise revenge.

Like I said earlier, I have read both sides of the arguments. You both have points- no doubt. However, it is clear that one party is a budding entrepreneur that is cutting his/her teeth in business while the other (YOU) is just a disgruntled former employee who is unashamedly using this platform to engage in bitterness.

Lol... See what i mean? Like I said earlier, you, my friend are honestly slow, dimwitted, uncivilized and crass. Translation: Uneducated (Dont come and brag that you went to school o, I didnt use the word "illiterate" tongue. Had to clear that up so there's no confusion. Would understand if you did use one in place of the other though grin).

That said, If you're seriously asking me to dissect that incomprehensible jargon-filled post of yours and answer all those ridiculous questions, you must be dumber than I thought you were. You must think we all have time for crap like that.

Damn, this dude needs some schooling. Who said anything about "CURSE"? I said CUSS. Let me break that down for you. It means "to use offensive words when you speak". Not curse as in epe... Lol grin. #dumbass.

Dude I honestly do not have time to answer your questions -most of which are pointless by the way. But when you come to a public forum and pour your filthy vitriol, you better be ready for anyone to take you on regardless of who you are or whomever your post is directed at.

Talking about failures, underachievers (it's one word by the way tongue), joblessness and poverty, pray tell, who would read your post and believe that you don't belong in that category? After all, you seem to be very familiar with those words grin and use them a lot.

Dude... Go get a job and stop forming here joor. #frustratedjoblessnincompoop.

sealit:

First of all, I did not address you.

Secondly, if you have any problem with my initial post, be bold enough to quote it instead of hyperventilating and making ridiculous assumptions.

Thirdly, can you kindly point out where I (cursed) or insulted anyone?

Fourthly, can you expound on why you feel that my questions were condescending?

Fifthly, it is obvious that you did not comprehend my submission if you are insinuating that I ever suggested that scammers and fraudsters should not be exposed.

Additionally, why do I have a feeling that you are the same person as the OP?

Lastly, what evidence based fact (s) do you have that the accused Employer is fraudulent?

Your post exemplifies the reasons why some Nigerian youths are under achievers and find themselves in perpetual joblessness and poverty.

You engage in Ad Hominem attacks instead of identifying your weaknesses.

You blame everyone else for your failure (s) in life instead of addressing your shortcomings

For the employer,
Yes, i understand that you are just starting out. There are however some basic things that you are supposed to put in place. You need to draft a policy for your company. The way i see it, people that employ without an offer letter, specified job description (although there is always room for extra tasks when necessary), or a contract, tend to go through this kind of negative publicity. If you had given your employees an offer letter stating the terms and conditions of the employment offer, you could easily refer them to the letter when ever issues arise. Unless, you are doing it intentionally just to rip them off. Also, please try to be nice to your staffs, maybe you feel that you don't have to, but, believe me, it goes a long way (that is if you hire the right person, and not some lazy jackass).

For the employee.
My head of HR has this saying that, if you work for a company, whose practices you deem unsavoury, then feel free to resign. If Mr Muyiwa chooses to buy goods from China and sell it to people, let the customers decide if they believe that they are getting value for their money or not. I don't buy goods without a refund policy. I still believe that most of these issues are due to the fact that there is no form of contract or offer letter. Where i work, its non of my business how much the company makes, i don't expect them to increase my salary every time they make major profit (yes, they can do profit sharing if they deem it fit). If the agreed wage is 9000 box, even if i make 900000, we already have an agreement. You divulging information about his company just because things went sour between you guys is not too good. The way i see it, if he was willing to pay you well and threat you nicely, i don't think that you would come hear to talk about him asking you to scrap the chinese labels on his products in other to deceive the customer. The way i see it, you are also culpable.

Sorry but your response is a bit silly.

You want to have a private discussion with me but you have publicly named your employer.

It does not make any sense.

Answer my queries on this thread.

That way, everyone can gain from our exchange.

lovely sentence constructions, pal! I love the way you write, your English teacher really did a good job but I have got to say you are a dim thinker. He should post his CV online? Or make his personal business public? The "truerebel" that's the focal point of this thread has allegedly defrauded clients and maltreated his staffs(the public) hence, the public discussion of his business undertakings. Despite that, his Cv stills isn't on NL.

P.s - its hard, almost impossible to for truerebel to continually read through this thread and not post anything here to defend himself, he's definitely behind one of these monikers.

Finally, Truerebel, Nigeria is a good place to do good business, don't kill your gift by continuing with these attitude towards your employees especially, they can make or mar you.

Ok, you see my points beyond the "i was sacked" sympathy painted initially.

If you were sacked from a company, must the company close down after you leave ?
the questions you should be asking is;

1-"should the company continue to maltreat and abuse other unknowing desperate job seekers?
2- should the company continue to sell fake products at exhorbitant prices to unsuspecting clients as originals leaving pain, tears, regret, and curses in their wake?

All I can say, Mr. Muyiwa Folorunsho, is that you are an extremely selfish man.
The way you are running your e-commerce business, I assure you, it can't survive beyond 2years. Your true rebel business is already finished.

I will like to post this here again so that we can get a double perspective of things and so that truerebel can apologize to these folks because it is not about what they did right but because they are angry customers (whether employee or clients). Apologize that they feel used and let them know you are growing and that everything will balance up.

Lummyguy had responded to the below post earlier and I appreciate. We are all brothers here. Let's give him another chance to make things right.

My experience with truerebel:

I was getting tired of the routine job I was doing at a private firm in Lekki Lagos so I applied for this job. Note that where I currently work is a start up.
So I attended the interview with True Rebel and the CEO gave me a text book on sales. A very good book by Robert Schuler I suppose.
I pondered on the one week trial, the transportation to and fro and the pay and I concluded I wouldn't be able to do it so I bounced.

I however noticed that he was a young man trying to build a business in this very harsh environment of inadequate electricity, bad roads that affects logistics and cost of importing and custom duties or perhaps DHL charges as the case may be. He was providing people with a new Nokia X etc.
There was no pension scheme and health insurance and this is because he just started and it wasn't a public limited liability company.

I have worked with start ups all my life and the two major events that can sink any start up anywhere in the world are:
1) Been generous with cash. Giving monies unduly to staff that has proven incompetent and parasitic.
Though I am against not paying people for the few days they worked if truly there was an exchange of value.

2) Hiring the wrong hands. This is by far worse that all the problems Nigeria is facing combined.
They will not only be negative about your business but they will not add value to you and sales will not increase. They will also put your customers in a tight spot and ruin you before you even twinkle.

I understand my fellow Nairalanders and you guys will agree that I don't just talk but this guys is a start up and he is trying to grow his company. He is also employing people and that is not an easy feat. I will only advice that if you are owing some of these folks that you pay them up. It is totally unfair to do that no matter how the company and them separated.
Also try and issue a contract to your new employees. I know you have lawyers. Sit with them and work out a workable document.

What everyone is complaining about is so little to what truerebel himself is facing. It's not easy to spend on business.
The fears, the expectations, the risk, the environment, the government, the investment and others.

Truerebel, I will also like to comment on your choice of words and how you string them together. I like it.

truerebel:

Let me start with the firings. I had hired the wrong person to manage the job against my better judgment. He was humble and brandished his many qualifications. You see I am an entrepreneur, and I become who I need to become to move my company forward. I had no prior experience managing so many people as all my previous projects were mostly investor relations and talking to people who are well experienced and do not need managing. So I got help in the Form of a Mr. A as I shall call him. I oversaw him for a few days and then traveled leaving an open line of communication.

In my travel a lot of things went wrong, I got to learn of his many incompetencies in handling my mostly female staff. I heard of his shyness and his inability to confront issues. All of this was learned after I let him go. We were above 20 persons then, and the whole office had turned into a mad house. The rules were not working, and each day of madness brought another day of more emboldened people who figured that since they could get away with all that noise and vernacular and lackadaisical attitude the day before they could surely continue in that fashion. The culture of discipline and conscientiousness I had striven to create was in a very short term replaced with anarchy fueled by a leadership structure that had no backbone in curbing the excesses of the people. I was told of this by Mr. A who I often told to handle it as the manager. The last straw was when he told me that he could not get across to the people as they have become cantankerous. I was expectedly annoyed that he had led the situation to that extent and then I informed him and another of my trusted staff that I would be coming to Lagos to rebuild the company and weed out the people who have now made it their business to concern themselves with how much the company was making and developing an entitlement mentality based on that. Before my arrival I heard that some of the staff were unionizing and would lead a protest that would see company property damaged. In response to this I had made arrangement with some police persons and there job was simple: make certain that they do not damage company property.

The following Monday was when I was around, myself and the police were present in our office that day. Every person who was not available on that weekend was given a letter of temporary suspension, all they had to do to reinstate themselves was send the company a mail in which they would explain their reason for not coming on the Saturday. You need to understand that the Saturday for me as the head of the company was a litmus test into the many personalities that have metastasized within the establishment. And on that day I got my answer in the form of a protest. The people had refused to read the letter, some of them went as far as wiping off the contact details on the company phones which we gave them. This contacts were built up over several months of advertising as millions of naira was spent in getting them, and in a fit of unrighteous anger they cost the company millions.

The people who wiped out our contacts where not paid, in fact we should have sued them, this is something I am still seriously considering . The value of the damage done did not in any correspond with their salary, but being the forward thinking person I am, I let it go, but I am now having second thoughts.

The manager whose leadership led to the decline of the company culture was also not paid. You may have seen his comment here or there. The reason for this was his sudden change of behavior and insistence on getting paid for the time he has spent after seeing that my coming back to Lagos from Accra would bring questions that he would have a lot of difficulty answering. He began to threaten me over the phone and then I saw his threats as a last ditch effort from a deserter whose presence or lack of presence had caused much damage he would grab on to anything and run, I decided to withhold his salary (which was 2 weeks away from being due) until I saw what damage he was running from. Let us just say he was wise to have run.

Now, for the Op. He was formerly a communications person with us but his interest in inventory led me to put him there. His salary was always paid promptly, and he was let go because of his pride. He is a prideful man. He would not be told what to do, and would not respect any authority figure especially one who had rose above the ranks and became a manager that he had to answer to, my new manager, who still works with me and alerted me to this page. They started the same time, but as they say, the cream always rises to the top. This same OP was in charge of the company camera’s one of which is missing. I am not saying he stole it. All I am saying is that he was careless enough to allow something under his watch be stolen. This was only found that after we had let him go.

Again I would mention our FORMER company structure for communications persons here.
In a bid not to hire free loaders giving the fact that very little monitoring is actually possible with the communications staff we give them targets. Result after all is the best way to judge a person’s effort at least that was my thinking in finding a minimalist way of managing the people we had. In this structure people where given targets and provided with many potential clients through our advertising to enable them be able to convert this potential clients into actual buying clients. This was the structure, this was agreed upon and everyone who was employed was well aware of this. This structure did scare away a lot of people I must agree, but it was our only way of ensuring that we had dedicated staff.

On quality control:
The company when it started understood that the biggest problem to selling low priced jewelry items online would be quality. People want to buy something worth N100 at the value of something for N10,000. We simply are unrealistic on quality here and anything that falls below our expectation we shout the S word.
In a bid to moderate our quality we tried using different chemicals to coat our items. This did not work as advertised. We then tried buying more expensive items and cutting short our returns in the process, the complaint was still same. We then did some research into companies like tiffany amber and other jewelry companies that sell items within our price range and much higher; the people buying items there understand that except they are buying stainless steel or sterling silver or real gold, this items would fade and it is up to them to make sure they are properly maintained. The problem however is that Nigeria is a very humid environment, this is not good for jewelry. Except you are living in an air conditioned home and have an air conditioned car that sees you not sweating it would be impossible for the jewelry items to last that long.

We are here at No 13 Munirat Aleje Street, Ikorodu.

wink
I m afraid your end is near. I ve got a lot of complains about people you duped through your fake products and maltreatment of your employees.

/
Employer:

1. You cannot run your business on improvisation. There are too many "trial and error" practices in your business. If you want to make changes,
you should carry your employees along so that you can work as a team and eschew unnecessary friction that does the company no good.

2. Do not move the goal post in the middle of the game. Every position has its responsibilities. Spell it out to your prospective employees.
And remember, everything is negotiable. Pay as promised. There is no need of hiring people if you do not have the requisite fund to pay
their salaries. That in itself is evil.

Employee:

1. Your job is to deliver and get paid by the company as promised.
2. If you have concerns about the dealings of the company, contact the relevant authorities. Nairaland will not solve the issues.
3. If the customers are not getting good services, let them sort it out with the company themselves.

Who ever put this thread to the front page is so silly and immature. I know Obiniscopy won't do such crazy thing.

Why just hearing from a bunch of LAZY employees and even after truerebel explained his own side of the story this nonsense was still done. I can see aggrieved employees are bent on bringing this man's business down.

Truerebel, if you had an employment letter and contract signed by your previous employees especially the TRAITOR and GREEDY FELLOW called lummyguy you can bring them all to their knees either by paying heavy fines or sending them behind bars for damages. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED LET ME KNOW. Judgement on them will be passed within a month.

Lummyguy, was so quick to steal his boss's idea only to want to sell it to the highest bidder on nairaland and even went as far as setting up a similar business. Shame on you @lummyguy.

As far as none of truerebel's clients can come out and testify he sold them fake goods, you his employees are playing with litigation (if he wants to make case with you guys).

I am NOT supporting truerebel in anyway, but the manner this was put on front page is ABSOLUTELY WRONG. When the likes of Inspiredm were found guilty of taking millions from customers without delivering their vehicles to them, seun and his moderators tried to kick the cases under the carpet and even deleted the thread.

SO MUCH INJUSTICE ON NAIRALAND.

Nice comment. I think the people on nairaland are mostly subordinates and would not understand the view of being a boss. You deal with a lot of personalities, often times you may lose focus and get involve with handling personnel issues. Let's be honest, this guy lummyguy or whatever is what I can't find an adjective to describe. Let him start his own business and then get the same treatment from his staff.

Now I understand why true rebel came smoking with police officers, he knows he employed mad men and resorted to mad techniques to get them out. Truerebel, if you owe this guy, please pay him off. Just the same way lumyguy is trying publicly shame true rebel, I think a disclaimer should be on him too - employers beware, employ at your own risk. Such a nasty guy
