@Op, 1500 plantain suckers on 8 plots of land. Please what spacing do u use.
Looking forward 2 ur answer plz.

I think we shld be specifying the dimension of the plots we refer to. a plot in delta is equal to 2plots in anambra. delta measure plot 100 by 100 while anambra is 50*100.
ideally, one hectare which is 2.5 acres and 10 plots of 100 *100 should contain 1500 suckers.

The best spacing for plantain is 2 m by 2.5m for optimum yield
This is spacing recommended by iita. If it is more than that, u will be spending more resources required to maintain the farm. if it less than that, the yield might be affected.

@world 1, happy bday.

@securi,
mkt depends on your source of purchase. if world 1 is buying from.an expensive source his price will be expensive.
When i set out to buy my plantain, the farmers here sell 400 for an improved sucker.The agric dept here sells200, world 1 sold 150 b4 he later brought down his price. legsup sold 80 naira. i know how much i finally bought it (wit discount). If i want to sell tommorow, i will sell at any price i want to sell. a seller may decide to buy from me after considering the best price he has got so far.

@World1, try to dey temper justice wit mercy.

Thank you, God, for giving me another year of life.
Thank you for all the people who remembered me today
by sending cards, and letters, gifts and good wishes.

Thank you for all the experience of this past year;
for times of success which will always be happy memories,
for times of failure which reminded me of my own weakness and of my need for you,
for times of joy when the sun was shining,
for times of sadness which drove me to you.

Forgive me
for the hours I wasted,
for the chances I failed to take,
for the opportunities I missed this past year.
Help me in the days ahead to make this the best year yet,
and through it to bring good credit to myself,
happiness and pride to my loved ones,
and joy to you. Amen.

Good farmers, who take seriously their duties as stewards of Creation and of their land's inheritors, contribute to the welfare of society in more ways than society usually acknowledges, or even knows.
These farmers produce valuable goods, of course; but they also conserve soil,
they conserve water,
they conserve wildlife,
they conserve open space,
they conserve scenery.

The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all.
It is the healer and restorer and resurrector,
by which disease passes into health,
age into youth,
death into life.
Without proper care for it we can have no community,
because without proper care for it we can have no life.

Sir, is the application of fertiliser to plantain compulsory? and at what age should it be done.
Can I make of only organic manure alone?

Thanks.

It depends
If you clear your land with bulldozer then you need to use inorganic fertilizer.
When planting.

Many months after writing this, I met Jasper7 a cucumber farmer who grows his crops using this technology. I don't think it was a co-incidence cheesy
Kalusam:
This model for growing Pineapple using nylon covers should be applied to other crops like water melon and cucumber to discourage weed growing. I think this will go a long way in controlling weeds, as manual weeding may destroy the vines thereby adversely affecting output or what do you guys think?
