@Herjeehbadey I would advise you go along with all your receipts. If the receipts do not show details of all payments, mail your service providers to send it to you asap. You also need to be confident at the point of interview. A friend had the same case as yours and had to attend their interview twice, before she was granted a visa.
Thanks AngelicBola83

GenoMI:
@Harjeehbaday Ok. Maybe they want to confirm that you paid all your bills when you had your baby. All the best.

Thanks GenoMI

Any other advice is welcomed!!!

Good day,

Kindly advise, my US visa is expiring Dec 13, 2014. I only used it once for wedding shoppings in 2013. I am 4months preg and due in May. I planned renewing immediately after expiration through drop box. but I have these issues.
1. I have changed my passport details to married which may raise eyebrow.
2. do I have to fill in the form that I am pregnant, if yes, I don't have any hospital in mind now, though I am contemplating on going to Houston cos my sister is there.

I need help asap on the details on my visa application, I have financial evidence close to 10k$ for now and am a lecturer in fed uni.
Also, any hospital assistance will be appreciated.

Hialeah Hospital is one of the worst hospitals you can ever give birth in the US. My cousin gave birth there June this year, and she can't stop talking about how horrible her experience was. She said the nurses are very rude and do not care about you. They left her in ER for more than 3 hours while in labour, and do not respond immediately to anything you ask for. They are always fighting with each other, and most of them do not speak English, so most times you are on your own. She also said the nurses station is deserted most times, and you might even die b4 you get someone to attend to you in case of an emergency. My two cents, avoid the hospital like a plague.

Hi fellow nairalanders. It is well to those that have had refusals. All i can say is pray and dont give up cos with God all things are possible. Just tot to share my experience. I had my first baby in the us in 2013. She came early and was put in NICU. I told them i was self paying but after insistance from the social worker at tje hospital that my baby was entitled to state aid i let her apply while i paid all my own bills. Fast forward to this year. My hubby went for his visa and was denied that he should go pay his baby bills.
Trying to pay back medicaid was like going tru hell as they didnt even have a record of it in their system. I had to contact the hospital to return the money to whoever paid so i can repay. Finally it was done so i paid back.
I qualified for drop box but decided to reapply with him.

We went for visa interview on 12th nov and was interviewed by the black lady in the first cubicle. She typed forever and denied us . The whole interview didnt just feel right. When we got home that same day i prayed and started the process again. I decided to use abuja and got dec 2nd.
I just got it approved today, thanks be to God.

Vo: goodmorning. What is your purpose for visiting the us?
I: to have my baby and vacation.
Vo:i see you have been to the us before. Can i see the evidence you have repaid medicaid
I: (hand her my receipts)
Vo: can i have price quote from the hospitsl and doctors cotrespondence
I: i have insurance(hands her documentation and doctors appointment letter)
Vo: didnt you have this insurance last time you travelled?
I: no
Vo: can i see bank statement?
I: (hand her statement and payslips)
Vo: you printed this yourself. The bsnk did not give it to you.
i: yes
vo: what hospital are you using?
I: sharon regional
Vo: make sure you take all this documentatiom when travelling and get a letter from the hospital stating the cost and what you have to pay. Your visa has been approved.

All tru i was thanking God it was already done and silently speaking in tongues.

Lol BA is like the worst airline that comes to naija. Tiny leg room, tasteless food and rude hostesses. Not to mention the 100 hrs layover in London. I wonder why Nigerians hype BA

Congrats Supamon,
good to hear some cases of eventual success
May I suggest all those re-applying after denials to consider abuja as it seems the abuja VOs are more objective ,less sentimental and listen than their Lagos colleagues.
Someone once mentioned this also and even attributed it to the fact that the VOs know abuja is filled with "influential" pple than the "gbogbo ero" Lagos and it actually makes sense.Well, just an observation

Congrats @supamom, great to hear that you got it despite not waiting for 90 days.

My hubby was refused this morning in Lagos (she had refused 8 out of 10 applicants before him, meanwhile the male VO approved everyone he saw while my hubby was there).

He gave reason of going to be with his wife for the birth of our child (I already have my visa).

He said the interview was short and (he thought) went well until she asked to see a copy of my visa. She had only asked where he works, how long he has worked there and if we have traveled together before (we visited the UK together in May this year).

She asked why my passport is still in my maiden name, he replied that I am yet to go to Abuja to change it (of which I actually have no plans of even doing so).

He tried to show her our marriage certificate, my sworn affidavit for change of name stating all docs in my maiden name remain valid etc - all neatly clipped together - but she refused to even collect them much less look at them, and just denied under 214b.

I am soo annoyed because I feel she was not objective at all - after all it is not compulsory to change your name after marriage. That's exactly why there is a marriage certificate to prove the union. We are still thinking of what plan B will be, probably re-apply.

She was just being unrealistic and mean. I got married in 2012 and up till now I have not done any change of name. I even renewed my passport using my maiden name as I don't have that time of going to Abuja. I got my UK visa renewed for 10 years along with that of my son, and my husband used our visa pages in his application and he was granted. I also got my US visa renewed with my mom, dad, and siblings after I got married, but we had to go for interview because of my son. No questions were asked. When my husband went as a first time applicant, the VO asked why he is not applying with his wife and he told her I already have my visa and she asked for my name which he told her. She just checked it on the computer and granted d application. She didn't ask for a single document. I would advise your husband to rebook for Abuja, and also go with your doctor's correspondence and explain why he wants to be there to hold your hands throughout the whole process and what this means to your family. I wish you all the best.

@Dammiehar Thank you soo much, infact your post has just given me renewed zeal because he was also saying he will go to abuja, but me I just felt soo down. We got married in January this year. He went with all the documents today including Dr's correspondence. We will start the process ASAP and hopefully he will get a date in Abuja that is not too far.

These VO's can be soo funny sometimes, I'm really very angry.

Its not their fault, if our leaders haven't betrayed us they wont be seeing us in the embassy.

Especially that one that can type for Africa, heard she doesn't wanna hear childbirth stories these days, pretty soon they will be transferred, their shift is ending.I will still advocate sticking with the truth and damning the consequence though.........Really pissed.

I used Emirates in june with my son and hubby to DFW via Dubai. It was 6-7 hours to Dubai, had a 19 hours sleepover - hotel room and eatover - breakfast, lunch and dinner ( arranged by Emirates called DUBAICONNECT).

Continued to Dallas DFW - 15 hours ONLY.
Then proceeded to Houston (since thread veterans had warned seriously about Houston POE)

Coming back, it cost me just about $70 dollars to re-route my flight to depart from Houston IAH. Visited Emirates office at Capital One Bank building to do that.

Flight to Dubai from Houston was quite full so we managed with a bassinet. Another 9 hours sleepover and dinner in Dubai.

However I and my baby had 2 seats for the Dubai - Lagos leg of the trip. The men around us were bounced because two of us had babies.

A bassinet was provided as well as i requested for it when i went to re-route my ticket. Baby fare is also about $60.
