About this issue of UK needing visa to transit, please check out this link.

It helped me as I traveled with my mum (her UK visa had expired and we were transiting via Heathrow) and did not want to hear stories...

House, pls anyone who has had a successful poe at chicago pls advice on what to watch out for at Chicago POE.

Contrary to what some might think Chicago poe was more or less a breeze for me. Got to chicago about 2 weeks ago (Turkish Airlines) Ours was the only flight that arrived by that time (6pm chicago time).
The flight was quite long so when I got to the airport I had to freshen up. As I was retouching my makeup I was just declaring the word. Favour favour favour.
When I was done there wasnt even a queue. So I just walked straight to an available cpb officer that looked nice. The man did not even ask me anything o. He just collected my passport, finger printed, took my picture and stamped me in till june next year. It was as if the guy was tired and cudnt wait to go home. Ive been going to chicago yearly for the past 7yrs so I guess he just thot twus my normal yearly vacation.
I thot I was dreaming o. Its really cold in chicago so I had to wear heavy clothing. I guess he probly dint notice or he was just being lazy. I thank God all the same.
May your poe experience be smoother than mine. Amen

Thank God for you o! Did he ask you what you came to do in Chicago?
I am pretty sure he didn't notice the baby bump inside all the heavy clothing! besides you are a frequent visitor na, even me sef go assume say na your normal trip.
But once they hear 'came to have my baby' drama starts. Why can't someone just have smooth POE like your own irrespective of 'I came to have my baby' eh

My flight was about same if not 18 hours. Sure you would be able to stretch on the napping seats in the lounge. All na favour my dear. Just pray for that,I didn't pay one fathing for all the comfort and attention I got...

LAX is pretty straight forward if you declared your intentions at the embassy and have your supporting documents.
Was there in July, though was taken to secondary inspection, just waited for some minutes, after my visa interview transcript was brought up, I was stamped in for 6months.
I know some others who went through same POE without issues.

Got visa with son and hubby April 3013 for vacation purpose. Didn't use it till June this year for birthing purpose. Sent the usual e-mail to the embassy in March notifying them of plans to birth baby in the US and got the generic response. Appeared at POE in Dallas with the embassy's response, obgyn's appointment and price quote, hospital quote received via mail, return tickets of course wink.

I traveled with hubby and son via emirates. Questions at POE include; why are you here?. How do you intend to foot the bills? Where will you be staying? Any documents? I also believed they tried to reach the obgyn and hospital on phone but it was pretty early in the morning.

They frisked our purses as well.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by mummyprincess: 10:20pm On Dec 21, 2014
@ Omodaraju, ok, I went to read your earlier posts too. Tnx once more, my own case is little different now because I intend going alone first before my family joins like a month later. This thing about checking purse, is someone not allowed to have even some naira on him or her? Sent you pm.

I don't think it should be a problem per se.

Could be a bit clumsy though, because for them to ascertain that you are not carrying more than $10,000, they will have to start converting it to dollar equivalent.

I had some Euro too coming into the US, and it took them a few mins to do the conversion to USD equivalent.

If you are transiting via some other airport before landing in the US I suggest you convert it to USD (you should not lose too much in the process using Travelex, MoneyCorp etc)

Hope this helps.

Please does anyone have info on opening a bank account here in the us? Someone made reference to this earlier on this thread (I think Jaejae) but I can't seem to find her posts. I wanted to know which bank would be convenient to open an account without SSN or taxpayers number. Thanks.

Use Bank of America but you must go with your international passport. That was all I was asked to provide.

Aside the IP, what other documents were required? How about the opening balance?

If it's a savings account, a minimum balance of 300 dollars is needed if not 5 dollars will be charged at the end of each month. But for a checking account, you would need to drop a minimum balance of about a thousand dollars (not too sure again).
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by MadameU: 9:18am On Dec 22, 2014
you would need two forms of ID, your International Passport and another form of ID,Your drivers license or An ATM or MasterCard bearing your name. mini mum opening balance is about 30 or 50 dollars...can't remember other details on the charges..

Good afternoon NLs, I need your advice.

I got my B1/B2 US visa in Dec 2012 but didn't use it till Nov last year when I went to give birth in the US. I paid all my fees and have receipts for all payments.

My visa is expiring this dec and I have applied with my hubby and 2 year old son using the dropbox submission. My hubby received a call today that we should come for interview any Monday or Wednesday by 1200noon. We intend going on the 15th or 17th since we are not based in Lagos. We have submitted the confirmation form and dropbox form already at the DHL office.

What documents do we need to go along with?

Good morning everyone,

My family went for the interview on Wednesday and we were asked to come collect our passport with visa today.

Pls keep all your payment receipts well ooo and make sure you get your zero balance letters (from doctor, hospital etc) because you will need them when you reapply for visa.

Thanks to everyone who supported us. I will provide update of the interview session later.

Hello House, landed in Dallas safely via Emirate after a one day layover in Dubai,i arranged it that way so that i can have a proper rest in Dubai before the second leg to Dallas.
As it is with our custom here, this is My POE experience:
Cbp:Hello
Me: Hello,how are you
Cbp: What are you here for
Me: vacation and to have my baby
Cbp: Smilles, Is that what you are using the money you decleared for ( i had decleared $9,900)
Me: That and also some other money i have deposited in my Bank Of America account
Cbp: Where is your husband
Me: He is in Nigeria but will be joining me before the baby arrives.
Cbp:: How long do you intend to stay
Me: 4 months
Na so she take stamp me for 6months o. The whole exercise did not take 3mins. She did not even ask for a single documment, meanwhile if you see me and the heavy file filled with burden of proof wey i carry, you go think say i be clerk for town council.lol. I thought she would even ask what was in the file, but alas! She dint even look at it. Not only that, all the grounded egusi, crayfish, ogbono and deboned dry fish i carried were not even checked. I thak God for the favour o.
Will start looking for hospitals and doctors tomorrow.

Gurus in the House,
After hitting a brick wall in my Florida search I have decided to port to Houston.
I am narrowing down to either Oak bend in Richmond and Methodist Hospital in Sugar land, accommodation will be a deciding factor.

As per Tvegas advise, please can someone advise me on those who offer accommodation, feeding or transportation, or better side closest accomodation to these hospitals?

And please any April mamas bound to either if these hospitals/locations please let's plan together...

Hi I am an april Momma to be and I plan to leave here in march. I am seriously thinking El Paso as in doctoresparati.com
