Buhari is economically clueless. My dog wouldn't vote for him.

Plans to spend 1.5 trillion naira annually giving people fish instead if teaching them how to fish.

Nigeria would be in serious trouble if this man comes into power. It would be 1985 all over again.

I would like to see him defend his manifesto on national TV .

Apparently some people find it hard to understand that a candidate for primaries can have his manifesto, but it can never be superior to the manifesto of the party. Since Buhari won the primaries, his manifesto has been replaced by that of his party APC. The APC manifesto was produced after tough discussions involving leaders from all parts of the country, and it may have similarities with Buhari manifesto, but the party is supreme in this matter. Has the writer even seen the APC manifesto? Lazy lazy lazy journalism

I was fortunate to get to see an economic program on channels this morning where a seasoned financial analyst and player analysed our economic position and where we are likely ending 2015.at that point I resolved my vote was going to GEJ.here is a man who has faltered but has done well in making sure we dont end up a mono-economy and can provide a viable condition for local and foreign investment. A man whose honesty is his Achilles heel.Buhari showed in 2 years that he knew nothing about the economy let's see if he understands the present problem facing oil producing countries with major dependence on oil

This is so dumb. The APC manifesto is out there if you care to look it up. They tried to keep it brief because Nigerians are notorious for not liking to read. Publish a military plan in a manifesto? Smdh. Does he know the state of the army Jonathan is leaving behind?
And yes Nigerians, if you come to their door like that the first response will be a loud shout of amen. Don't you even know your own people? P/s there is no Buhari manifesto, the primaries are over. That document was to sell himself to the party delegates. Now he is obliged to take on the APC manifesto, and rightfully so, if you understand anything about party politics. Buhari does not own the party but he is a leading light and inspiration to most of it. That is why we are here giving our time and energy, and sometimes money too.

There are issues NOT EVER discussed by these politicians,

1. Reduction of government size, reduce this, you will reduce corruption and waste of resources.

2. Creation of an enabling conditions that will foster private enterprise and job creation

3. Limit social programs to Education and Health, Nigerians do not need handout, average Nigerian is smarter than that. For a start, N5k to the poorest, how do work out who qualifies for this. This stupid policy will only keep the poor where they are.

4. Decentralization, many people have called for this and I can see the need for it.

I am an advocate for change, Buhari is my choice for d year. however, I must confess that when I read through his manifesto, I noticed they were ideas with no explanation of how they would be archived. so, I concluded that Buhari is no messiah, but he I prefer him than a clueless GEJ. at least Buhari will not let the north go down in flames like Mr President.
one manifesto that drew my attention was that of Sam Nda-Isaiah. it's a shame he don't go far

Far from it, [t is very feasÍble with a sound fiscal discipline. There is nothing bogus in the document, sadly, we are too used to mediocrity which we have accepted as benchmark
bollify:

That is the writers sentiment. The feasibility of the bogus claims in the manifesto considering the reality on ground as regard the totality of the nation's wealth.

This is not 1986, not even 2011. We are monoeconomic nation with limited income. So the big question still remains how buhari intends to achieve these lofty ideas with this limited resources. Because calculation shows that 5000 naira times 25 million people amount to 125 billion naira for the unemployed and less privilege for just one year.. Now we ve not talk about the finance for the trainings of these unemployed youth were promised to undergo. We really have to learn how to ask question from our politicians. The kind of promises these guys make is an insult to our intelligence.

Buhari had this same manifesto in 2011. When it came time for the presidential debate, he was so badly prepared I realised he never read the document as he could not answer intelligently questions whose answers were right in the manifesto. Even if he read it, illiteracy will make it impossible for him to understand it talk less of articulate it. Imagine Hausa Fulani endorsing true federalism and devolution of power. Aburi acord comes to mind.

You that call Buhari illiterate. What is "talk less" in English language? Wrong use of words. You rather say 'let alone'. You see you're in the same class as Buhari.
Re: The Trouble With The Buhari Manifesto BY ABIMBOLA ADELAKUN by sitesolutions: 8:17pm On Jan 01, 2015
Lets make this clear, GEJ is not the answer to the problems facing an average Nigerian. However, Buhari has not proved that he is the solution contrary to what he wants us to believe.
Both are clueless to use your phrase. The question should be 'who is the less of the 2 evils'. The devil you know is better than the angel you do not know.

Very interesting observation from the Manifesto. It does not matter what party you affiliate yourself with, the fact is politicians always make promises they are unable to keep. I feel sorry for those that have been bought over by Buhari,s promises without a second thought.

The most important observation made here is the fact that Buhari plans to spend money on social programs but very vague or clueless on where the money will come from.

You either promote capitalism by creating policies that will enhance and facilitate growth through private enterprise or follow the path of social welfarism and pursue policies that will only benefit the poorest of the society in a futile attempt to close inequality gap.

In my opinion, the only social programs worth pursuing in a society like Nigeria are education and health. Nigerians are smart and hard working, therefore more than capable of achieving a without assistance of the government as long as the government provides other variables required.
The money is going to come from the nation treasury. Money is never our problems in Nigeria, the problem has been the economy managers.
A lots of wastage is going on in the system that if well contain, money will be available for social welfare and infrastructural development.

APC has been consistent in saying that PDP has ruled Nigeria for 16 disastrous years in which corruption, impunity, insurgency, armed robbery and several ills of society held sway.
But at a very close look at the APC, I am seeing:

1. Rotimi Amaechi – 8 years speaker; 7 year, Governor
under PDP.

2. Atiku Abubakar – 8 years Vice president under PDP.

3. George Akume – 8 years Governor under PDP.

4. Bukola Saraki – 8 years Governor; 2 years, Senator
under PDP.

5. Timipre Sylver – 4 years Governor under PDP.

6. Audu Ogbe – 2 years Chairmanship of the PDP.

7. Aminu Masari – 4 years as the Speaker, House of
Representatives under PDP.

8. Chris Ngige – 3 years Governor under PDP.

9. Rabiu Kwankwaso – 7 years Governor; 3 years
Defense minister under PDP.

10. El Rufai – 4 years FCT Minister; 2 years BPE
chairman under PDP.

11. And to cap it all, Obasanjo is the navigator of the
APC, a man who spent 8 of the disastrous 16 years as
the maximum ruler of Nigeria.

It is now clearer that APC is a waste basket of the PDP, where the people
who created and perpetuated the 16 disastrous years are now dumped. So where is the change coming from? Are they now saints because they joined APC? The same people that destroyed the country are the ones going to APC..

Pls be WISE & VOTE not for those seeking power by FORCE

Lol... Let me rephrase your question:
If you had a domestic staff (house help), and someone comes to your house claiming that he/she is capable of doing a better job and says "I will wash your car regularly and make sure your car is never dirty", meanwhile your current staff knows that there isn't always water where you stay. Would you say the one coming to meet you for a job is inept or is it excusable? Please give your honest answer... Thanks.

My friend face reality

Our national wealth is declining and our population is increasing.

We should focus more on wealth creation that are private LGAs and States oriented.

What I expected tha writer to do was qoute directly from the manifestor then analyse each point that was qouted.how are we to believe this if we can't see the manifesto?don't forget its democracy and whaever plan must be subject to legislation so his plans will just be a blue print which will be restructured.if he is using a 2011 plan I will be disapointed,I believe he can do better!

Any discussion on the topic of population explosion is 'a no go area' It is very sensitive to ordinary man on the street. It is a subject worth addressing. I don't think anyone has an answer to that.

Social programs like welfare system of N5k proposed by Buhari has to be funded by someone, ie through taxation, etc. We tend to forget that without jobs, revenues can not be raised through taxation. Unless Buhari has other means in mind, but with our large population combined with falling oil prices, not much option exists.

So to create a welfare system, you must first create jobs, which can fund your welfare system. That is how it works in many advanced economies.
