These TANoids won't stop posting pictures of this same train. Na wa o. It is only fixing train this man could accomplish since he became president.
Moreover, this train has been a combined effort of past governments. He should not take the credit for it alone.

Meanwhile on this family experience on the rehabilitated Enugu-Port Harcourt Train trip I saw the Amaechi scam monorail(1:49mins).

Kudos to GEJ!

No it runs on dark matter! What sort of 5tupid question is that? Do you even know what the word "locomotive" means?

You Nigerians just love to confuse yourselves with terms you don't even understand. That's how some of you will be asking "Is the car assembled or manufactured?"

Please stop displaying illiteracy here. The same internet connection you use to post on Nairaland also has www.google.com and if you check it, you'll see that the word "locomotive" is a general rail term for a train engine, be it steam, diesel or whatever. Asking "is it electric or locomotive" is like asking "is it water or cup" - a thoroughly disgraceful and dense question to ask.

No wonder foreigners think Black people are dumb.

Perfect response for idiotic question

I just feel uncomfortable with the cushion chairs in our train. Even though they are great now, i wonder how long they will last.

If you noticed, trains abroad have plastic seats, so that they can be easily cleaned out, even if someone vomits on it.

Anyhow, i thank our working President GEJ for providing Nigerians a functional train. Something the others simply failed to do.
The train in your pics are not inter-city trains. Inter-city trains come with cushion seats.

Well it is all well and good....but thanks to the fall in oil prices....we might not be able to maintain it for long.

And I know this sounds trite....but Ajaokuta has to be working again so that (to cut a long story short)....costs of expanding/maintaining the railways would be cheap.

And 3 hrs for a 236km? We could make that faster.(How's about cutting it to 1 hr.....and then linking it up with Port Harcourt Airport.....sounds good.!)

And this isn't the first time the railways have been revived....Abacha did it, as did Obj in the 70's (failed India led attempt). And the current project was envisioned and commenced by Obasanjo(2007), and renegotiated by Yaradua .

You lived in japan for too long...most trains would take 1 hr 20mins to complete thar journey

Brother, I am sorry for coming across that way but I feel personally disturbed that aat this crucial stage in our development, there are so many ignorant and under-productive people wasting space and air, parading themselves as "Nigerians".
We are now on the cusp of becoming this century's China. We are literally one 1000km standard gauge international railway line and a further 10,000MW of power away from seeing our economic growth rate hit double figures. That railway line is CURRENTLY under construction in stages if you're familiar with the national rail plan and will link Accra to Katsina when complete. The additional 10GW of power is not more than 6 years away as well if you've been keeping up with developments since the privatisation.
Nigeria is about to become a HUGE global player and Africa's premier and undisputed power house and the people inhabiting this country simply don't seem to know! They have no idea!!!!
Brother, how do you want me to respond when a Nigerian is watching the rail system come back to life under his nose and is busy asking "Is it locomotive or electrical?" What do you say to such cluelessness?!
Nigeria needs productive, informed people right now! Nigeria does not need ignorant people to drag it back now! Not now!

I guess they will be changing the seats every 1 month or else it will be looking like a molue seat soon or Danfo.

And who's fault will that be? That of you, the same Nigerians who will be sitting on it. Nigerians have been clamouring and crying for change day and night. My question to you is: Have you changed yourselves?

dude I live in joburg and there is also metrorail. Which costs a lot less than gautrain. And gautrain came to joburg in 2010 and its not yet in any other city but I'm sure dat gradually they'll get to other cities. Yesterday rail service was dead in naija, today its alive and working. Isn't dat a good thing for now? I'm no fan of gej but he has done extremely well here.

It's imperative to note that you have to be going from Port hacourt to Enugu or anywhere else to use that plane. If you live in Owerri, you have to take a bus back to PH to board the train. Sometimes, our leaders just reason in reverse. It's obvious this project is a perception one. One that we're supposed to see pictures such as this and say "WOW, this is pretty good". A project becomes a project when it touches at least 50% of the population not when a sprinkle of people make use of it. I want to see these trains constantly in every city in the country to applaud. Until, then i'll have to sit on my hand.

No, I was not offended....I actually like the country. It is an example of what Nigeria should be,but isn't because we think we can import our way to success with our oil money which we think is going to last for a million years........which is a flawed idea.!

First of all, it's a train, not a plane. Were you thinking at all while you typed?

Second, the route of the train is not anyone's fault. That was the existing line route. This project was refurbishment not a new build. There is however, an ongoing project to link the entire South East and Niger Delta by standard gauge rail. That is the real "perception project" not the refurbishment of existing colonial rail tracks. Blame the british for the route.

I used to think you were one of the few posters here who knew a little. Now you've just destroyed your entire credibility. What a shame.

It's because of statement like yours that millions of jews were killed. next time you want to engage me in an argument, don't play coy with me. So, because the british built a rail line from PH to Enugu due to coal transportation, must it remain like that? Are there no rails in those other states. Can't they create a station in those places that can carry people from their desired take off point and not the one the government chooses for them? if they can do what they were elected to do then they should take a hike.

I don't really know why Nigerian government can never look at the big picture. They will rather spend billions to resuscitate an outdated locomotives like GEJ have done than trying to add more money to those billions and deliver a world class facilities like what we see in South Africa. Who in their right mind uses locomotives when they can easily upgrade to something more standard!
