Please and please, don't make that mistake again. As long as you know what to write and it's the right thing to write, please always write it.

Like I told tosyne2much, don't make the mistake of thinking the lecturer will get pissed off. On the contrary, from my observations, most of them enjoy marking scripts of such students.
tanx, buh wat abt when d lecturer says "briefly define" students go still full book, I just do as am I told, thse that hve any effect on grades too

How is it calculated for Utme students?
Ur cgpa is equal ur total credit point divided by the total number of units for that semester/session...

Let assume u registered 7 courses in your first semester and they are all 2unit each..
Acc 101
Acc 103
Acc 105
Gns 101
mkt 103
Bfn 101
Bfn 103
and ur grade point are 5,5,4,4,3,4,5 respectively
To calculate ur cgpa,U multiply ur gp by course unit then divide the result by the total number of unit
Acc 101 5*2=10
Acc 103 5*2=10
Acc 105 4*2=8
Gns 101 4*2=8
Mkt 103 3*2=6
Bfn 101 4*2=8
Bfn 103 5*2=10
(14)=60
ur cgpa will be 60/14 =4.28

Inspiring story. I think the mindset has a whole lot of role to play. If you really want to make a first class degree, the opportunities, friends, and all you need will always gravitate towards you, your role is just to make good use of those opportunities.

Take OP for example, he wanted a good result, he met with the best guy in his department, he stumbled upon those talking about 4.0 CGPA as a necessity for qualifying for scholarship, his mate would come for tutorial hence he use that opportunity for his own revision.

Once you have the right mindset, the how will always locate you.

My first semester was way below my expectation (I had an above average result. to some its not bad, but I knew I had the intellectual capability of making a first class by God's grace) So I had the will in my second semester, and my result was a stellar one, I couldn't believe I did so well. Same thing in my second year, now I am among the scholar in my department.

Although my department is not where you can make 4.5 by just studying (Studying biomedical sciences, so am literally studying biochemistry, physiology and anatomy at the same time, which means it is a little bit difficult to pass excellently considering the work load, I offer an average of 10 courses per semester, excluding practicals which is also time consuming), to make a first in my department, you need to settle the fact that you're here to pass, and that you will take time to really understand those courses in the future, once that is settled then you can cram your way to A's and B's.

Pls engrtemmy I ave some few question to ask you
1. Which poly. did u attend and what was ur grade

Sorry for my late response bro. I somehow missed it.

I attended the federal polytechnic Ilaro and I finished with distinction

2. How did u gain admission into uniben is true direct entry or u wrote jamb kos u said d same yr u graduated from d polytechnic dats d same yr u enter uniben

Yes, it was through Direct Entry. I couldn't go through the one year mandatory IT since I gained admission almost immediately I left poly.

3. Am also in the polytechnic and I just in ND2 nw currently on siwes. My ND1 gp was 3.55 a mechanical engr. Student and also tinking of using my OND result to cross to a uni

You've started very well and I'm happy for you. Switching over to the uni is actually a nice idea.

4. If atal I want to obtain direct entry form how do I go abt it and wen sud I obtain it. Pls I nid ur help. I rep Mapoly.

You obtain the form from jamb and fill. Do not make the mistake of obtaining multiple forms, those who did last year were disqualified.

Secondly, depending on the school you've chosen, you might have to write post direct entry exam. Uniben writes but schools like UI, OAU, e.t.c don't. The ball is in your court cheesy

All the best bro

Congrats on your 2.1 but it is not totally improbable to graduate with a good G.P after doing badly in first year. In Uniben, the first and second year gp comprises of only a minute percent of the total gp when compared to the penultimate and final year.
Huh? Can you please enlighten me on how the CGPA is calculated with respect to the levels then?

I can never forget the first question I asked Nonso, "Guy, how una tey dey do am?" "Na the same thing we dey read na"

Nonso replied, "Bros na God o". I wasn't satisfied with the response so I probed harder.

Nonso told me about a particular course whereby he answered just four questions out of 5. He had an A. I answered all the five questions correctly and I had a B.

That was my first lesson.

It is not just enough to read, it's more important to read the right things and it's not just enough to answer all questions in the exam hall, it's more important to answer the ones you do perfectly well

Secondly, I noticed Nonso had no girlfriend. That was my second lesson.

Whether you'll like to hear this or not, to come out in flying colours in school, you need to forget about girls and vice-versa

Thirdly, I discovered Nonso read a whole lot. I felt I read in my 400L only for Nonso to tell me how hard he read. That was my third lesson

There's no short cut to success. That dude who always has the best result in class does no magic. He simply reads and spends lots of hours burning midnight candles[

Armed with those three lessons, I was on a mission to ensure I graduate with a 2.1 only for me to bump into a discussion where some guys were talking about scholarships for masters.

According to them, It's much more easier getting those scholarship when one graduates with a CGPA of 4.0 and above.

I went home and like fans of the super eagles, I started punching my calculator. cheesy I wanted to see if it was mathematically possible for me to still make a 4.0. After my calculations, I discovered I needed a 4.67 in my final year to make it. cheesy

At first, it looked quite impossible. Afterall, I had only managed to make a 2.1 once which was even low. How on earth do I intend having a GPA of 4.67?

I vowed to try everything within my might to make it against all odds.

Nonso the legend. Nonso was my bunk mate in hall 4 while we were in finals. Nonso Ebo**, the guy was good.

lol. Frank you still bear that name... Temmy I feel quite honoured being mentioned in your story. It's really motivating. I just want to correct something you said about forgetting girls if you want to graduate with flying colours. Every human being is different in his or her own way. The key to academic excellence is to understand yourself. That is to say know what works for you. I knew my flaws. I find it difficult to read even till date. Honestly speaking, I can't read for more than two hours but I knew that I easily learn when am been taught. so I stuck to attending classes. Some of my colleagues found out that reading on their own was best for them and it worked for them. But I strongly advise to attend classes. its really advantageous. You don't need to avoid girls if you want to achieve academic excellence. I had a girlfriend myself. You should just learn how to balance everything

Please, house. How do they calculate cgpa of a direct entry student? Let's say someone that got admission into 200l through direct entry. What could be his/her cgpa for after the 200l?
