Banks all over the world lose billions to technology-related fraud yearly. Ask any banker in this country. With all the technological sophistication in bank security billions of naira are still lost to tech-fraud in Nigeria alone.

Makes u wonder how this President hopes to achieve a corruption-free country with technology alone as he is saying. Send corrupt people to jail! Is that too big for Jona's mouth? Mtcheew!

This guy you really think calling pro-APC names means people will say oh let's forget jailing them. That's the difference between people who want the best for Nigeria and those who support candidates just because.

Please if they find evidence and they can convict them and then by all means let them all go to jail. Tinubu, OBJ, Atiku and even though this will break my heart Fashola. If they find them guilty they should be locked up.

If armed robbers come to your house and steal, I doubt you'll say forgive them when they get caught. The truth of the matter is for every cent take illegally, they deprive people of food, healthcare, good roads. These things cost lives every single day.

I'm still waiting for someone to mention a country where they don't jail corrupt govt officials after they've found them guilty. Some even go as far as executing them. No one is disputing use of technology (whatever that means) but when you gather your evidence, take them to court, if they're found guilty then jail them. This is the practice the world over.

Now just for sanity sake, I could agree with you that they should be given a chance to return their loot voluntarily so to avoid jail them, almost like settling out of court but just forgiving them like that shouldn't even be an option
Thank you for you are a sweet Nigerian I believe you'll listen. Yes I said it just like mr president has said before that stealing is not corruption. While corruption can be seen as a system,to be corrupt means it might be good before, but all of a sudden its mutate to rot morally. I said it with a straight face that all Nigerian government top officials including Goodluck and the world over are corrupt. Maybe its a new system that will start from Nigeria. We should understand human nature and am sure you and me'll be corrupt if you're part of the system.yes you can lie about it or deny it. Now people will prefar to steal funds and latter cover it up. Am not saying the new technology will be faultless but it limit corruption to the barest minimum.

Now, President Goodluck Jonathan is doing it.....
Mr President, keep stealing, the nation is blind because STEALING IS NOT CORRUPTION.
And the looting partners with you are far more than the suffering Nigerians who are against you.

So we should abandon tested, effective, age long practises for one that hasn't even been explained to us. Can you explain this system to us??

Then because I might steal eventually if I get there means I shouldn't support them being persecuted means I don't have the moral standing to debate this. If this is the attitude we keep having how is Nigeria ever going to get better because what you're saying in essence is, let's not jail them so that when we also get there we can steal without repercussions. Nah that doesn't work for me

Did he explain the technology? This man thinks, in 2015, he can still throw words like technology around and people will just be ok with that. He needs to break it down. He mentioned e-wallet yesterday, what technology is there to deal with top government officials. When we talk about corruption, 95% of Nigerians are referring to stealing going on in government.
oga i really wish u can broaden ur mind a lil, how do they steal in under-developed countries, its cuz pple move cash around however dey want. Now here comes cashless policy dat does'nt allow u deposit 150k over d' counter!. Developed economies don't send agents to watch u wen u sign those contracts and make deductions, dey monitor ur transactions online, anyone that raise alarms invites trouble for u. how effective has our judicial system been in prosecuting corrupt individuals? T'he truth is u can't get to court if u can't steal d' money! Prevention first befor cure son! Look its obvious Mr. President has lost hope in d' effectiveness of our constitution to fight major corruption issues, like ur broda Bode George, OBJ, James Ibori, and d' manager of police pension manager who stole 27billion naira and got bail from our constitution for 700k! Ok so cashless policy is your answer. How has this cashless policy reduced corruption? How has not being able to deposit 150k helped fight corruption in any way. Are you claiming that there's no more corruption in Nigeria?

Sanusi that was governor of the CBN came out to scream that money is missing and you're talking about cashless policy

Do you also know GEJ is just trying to cheapen Buhari's message by saying oh he'll jail your uncle and jail everyone. The judicial system also needs a huge overhaul no doubt about that and I'm sure they recognize this.

Apart from that even with our ineffective judicial system at least OBJ was able to send some corrupt officials to jail. Keyword here is corrupt, I don't care if they were his enemies or not

i like d' fact u are been quite objective. Believe it or not, cashless policy is ur fisrt step, gone are d' days companies pay ur salary in cash, a space dat allows ur HRM to deduct ur salary by physical intimidation, dats corruption too bro, at d' grassroot! Now u ever tot why Ibori, Alameiseigha and Joshua Dariye of plateau state were jailed in d' UK? Its simply cuz dey were caught with an amount of cash dat violated d' cashless policy of the country! Very simple! Extend dat tot to award of contracts, payment of pensions, etc how else do people steal in govt. T'he Sanusi that rang dat bell, has money ever gone out of dis country without passing through his office, he should tell us what went down! He has a job to do too, blame it on d' kinda system we operate, d' crude system, dats where Buhari wants us to go back to bro

yes OBJ did dat, while he was using d' EFCC has d' watch dog, why was he not able to jail George, Lucky Igbinedion, lyel Imoke(power minister), Chimaroke Nnamani( whose enterprise was confiscated under Yar'adua in enugu). Same Obj who was able to present cash gift of 50million each at d' senate chambers for d constitution amendment to enable him go for 3rd term. People use to say Peter Obi is slow, but after he was done with reforms from d' grassroot, Anambra has come first in WAEC for 2 consecutive years. It never happened fast! Buh it did happen. Start from d' scratch and solve d' problem once and for all. Who cares about goin to jail wen i can bribe my way out of it. Think about it bro

I'll argue it with you that the grassroot corruption is not the main problem in Nigeria, I'm not saying its not a problem. As far Ibori, Dariye I'm glad you mentioned it yourself that they were JAILED in the UK, for the record I didn't even refer to this you did. My argument from the beginning is after you apply whatever method, technology (this needs to be explained further), intelligence gathering or whatever they need to end up in jail. I still maintain that the best deterrent is the fear of going to jail. Corruption is such a huge problem in Nigeria that every legal option is needed to fight it. Mentioning technology and saying we shouldn't jail them is very inadequate

They said salary was delayed in some states because the "system' (i hate the word) shut down because some people were trying to divert salaries, all well and good. Where are the people that were trying to do this. If you create a "system" that can't track who attempted to divert these funds, then its already a failure because its only a matter of time before they figure out a way around it and break the "system".

As for Sanusi, how it went down I don't know. It obviously didn't go through his office is the reason he shouted out. He discovered an irregularity and blew the whistle just like he should do. So how the $20bn went missing is what we should try to investigate because it means certain people have found a way around the "system" created to prevent it.

Again my point remains the same, there hasn't been any significant reduction in corruption. You guys keep talking about time, how long do you figure it takes before we start seeing results. Building a house takes time we know that but at least in the first few weeks I should see the foundation, later I should see a structure going up, then roofing and so on. What this means is progress should be seen not just heard.

95% of you who commented above don't have a job and hardly read or carryout studies; in that regards, I chose not to blame you for voicing blindly. However, it may not or may interest you to know that the Technology Mr President is talking about has been in the service system for more than a year now. Like the IPPIS enable salaries to be manage and paid to workers account (federal workers not state) automatically and timely through CBN enroute individual bank. That alone has save the government billions of naira within a short time by eliminating faceless workers otherwise known as 'ghost workers' in the federal ministries and agencies.
Plz, before criticism ensure you know what you are saying so you won't look stupid to someone who knows.
You can quote me if you wish; this is what I know and I am a beneficiary. And go ask your father or relative who are gainfully employed by the Federal government.

I concur with ur points, except for the "fear of Jail" take for instance the chairman of police pension commision who stole #27billion and got bail for #700k. The EFCC played der coonstitutional role to chrge him to court against all odds, now it was left for d judges to send him to the swines right? But his lawyer was smart enough to point to d judge to dah part of our constitution wher d bastard could be granted such bail! U hav no reason to deny him of his constitutional right abi? North Korea would rather hang you, but that's North Korea, a military govt. It can't happen in Europe or US. For the fact u can't really put this guys away, u can prevent them from laying hands on this cash. Its also a step

It's a lie! The new technology will make it even easier for those at the top to steal while denying the opportunity to those lower down the ladder. Also you are wrong about your definition of corruption. Corruption is when someone abuses their public office to either enrich themselves or their friends. Stealing is corruption when it is done by those people entrusted with public funds.
