Olutola88:chillax bro, it's like the second time you're saying this stuff about the thread of the year cos of ur entry level salary thread. You should understand that the award was based on ppls opinions nd u can't decide their opinion for dem, I also nominated that thread but since most ppl think otherwise, u gats accept that. after all the award is even for the thread nd not the op of the thread. goodnight bro nd sleep tight. |

cc150615:Lmao! I no dey vex o! You should have sensed that from the statement I made “like Wizkid did @ the headies”. If I were enraged, I wouldn't have made such comic comparison. Nevertheless, I'll like to make my point clear. I don't like when things aren't done properly(Maybe because I'm somewhat a perfectionist). My principle is: Do it right or don't do it at all! The Organization is a NO NO for me. Initially, the OP said we'll be having 5 nominees per award category and I've been seeing about 7, 8, 9 nominations. What happened? Some of the award categories weren't properly described or description misinterpreted. Why couldn't we have 3 top nominees per category and allow the top 3 contest? What's the Difference between Poster of the Year & Sense Maker of the year? Why was the moderator of the section allowed to contest? He should have been given a non-voting Award. Much respect to Davide470 Awards like Most Beautiful & Most Handsome are way irrelevant in this section. Maybe we should have left that for the Peeps in Romance. Btw, How many Joblanders have profile pictures? I was even nominated as best new comer? Where did that come from? There are sometimes you see people making a particular decision, You ask yourself, “what were these people thinking”? When I saw Thread of the Year award category, I went straight to the description because that's the most important thing I consider when nominating. Go back & read the description! I know some peeps will be like WTF! All these cos of Nairaland Awards. YES! It's for ordinary Nairaland Awards. Different things motivate us in life. A big Shout out to Davide470, MarvellousGod, XtraSmooth404, Veevean1 CC150615 & Jamean for nominating “Entry Level Salaries of Companies in Nigeria” www.nairaland.com/1938587/entry-level-salaries-companies-nigeria as Thread of the year. To all Joblanders, I Love you all like Kilode! *kisses to the Damsels and knuckles to the Dudes* I remain Olutola88 the Gentleman |

@olutola88 cc150615:__i feel all these energy you are sharing now should have been used earlier to bring joblanders who were active on your thread to this thread for nominations, when it was on-going. __Whatever you say now is campaign after election ,and doesn't hold water anymore. It will be a great prejudice to some other people too ,if the rules are now being stretched @ ds last minute all 'cos you or someone else feel you deserve the award. __Good you feel you deserve something for such a great thread you created but since most ppl think otherwise ,you should let it slide in the spirit of love . A beautiful week to you brother. TENK ! ![]() |

Therealadonye has done a great job. Given the short notice and duration of the award process, I give him a pass mark. This is the first of its kind in this session, and it is expected that there will be a few lapses in the process. There is always room for improvements. I have identified a few flaws can be noted for subsequent editions. However, I think one of them NEED to be rectified IMMEDIATELY (My bad, I should have mentioned it earlier when the process started. These are my reservations are as follows: 1. Some of the award categories are ludicrous This is a major flaw in the award process and I think this needs to be rectified with immediate effect. Job/vacancies section is one of the most visited and important section of Nairaland. An annual award for the section should be taken with all sense of seriousness and purpose. Some of the award categories are a slight to the prestige of Job/vacancies section, and they tend to whittle down the prestige and value of the whole award programme, making it all look like a fanfare rather than a valuable, prestigious and purposeful award. These are the ridiculous ones: a) Best thread derailer: What's the purpose of this category precisely? Are you trying to reward people who break Nairaland rules? An award should motivate people to do the right things, not to break rules. b) Miss Dainty: This is job/vacancies section, not romance, dating, or family section. I see no reason why this category is here. It serves no purpose as the purpose of the section is not meant to attract guys or ladies (I am not against hooking up people here oh . We can meet people anywhere but I'm saying you shouldn't have an award for this category). Like I earlier, categories such as this tend to reduce or eliminate the prestige expected in an Job/vancancies award programme. c) Mr Casanova: Read my note on Miss Dainty d) Most handsome/most beautiful: This is also funny. When did Job/Vacancies section become an opportunity to show figure 8 and 6 packs? This total derails the purpose of the section and shouldn't have been a category at all. Dues respect to Ferdybaba and Jamean. e) Most secretive joblander: So are we trying to award people who do not supply information? What's the purpose behind this? Let's not turn the whole award process to a big joke. I know we want to make it interesting but we shouldn't go to ludicrous extents. f) Funniest Moniker: What has moniker got to do with your contribution to Nairaland Job/vacancies? Are you encouraging people to start using weird monikers just to win awards? People should be free to use whatever moniker they choose to. No one should should win an award for just choosing to use a particular moniker. To me, this is just a popularity award. Personally, it is a slight to award winners for the above mentioned out-of-purpose categories while simultaneously awarding winners for more serious categories like most helpful Joblander, sense maker of the year, etc. IT IS A BIG SLIGHT TO SERIOUS WINNERS. I personally suggest that these 6 categories should be cancelled with immediate effect. They serve no purpose. If at all they serve any purpose, they reduce the importance attached to the whole award process To be continued.... |

2. the moderator should be exempted in some of the categories. I partially agree with olutola88 on this. I believe mods can participate in some of the categories as they also ordinary joblanders but just have administrative powers. But there are some categories they should have been exempted from as it is their job and they will invariably be the favourite to win. The categories are 'most online award' (They are expected to be online often) 'most popular' (Mods are popular by the nature of their job) and 'poster of the year'. I think they can participate in all other categories cos the others do not conflict with their core responsibilities. Due respect to davide470 Cc therealadonye |

@Mixty : Good one . _To be fair to Adonye, He created this thread https://www.nairaland.com/2069310/job-vacancies-section-awards-discussion for the sole purpose of whatever you are grizzling about now.Everyone was allowed freedom to say what he/she wanted the award process to look like, and ... YES ! they did. Those who aired their opinions wanted it this way. _ Whatever you see now is a result of what guys said ,not what adonye felt. Just like what you said here... Mixty:_If you dint mention it when the process started in the discussion thread; FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE, forget about it_ And remember to say when the discussion thread for the next one opens. PS : If you go thru the discussion thread, i never made a post . Don't be of the opinion that i want it/want not this way.E'vryone has got his reservations about everything in life. _KUDOS to All who actively and inactively participated & A big thumps up to THEREALADONYE! |
