Free schooling for elementary and secondary! Scholarships and school loans and incentives when they get to uni level. But daycare you have to pay about $60-100 per day, depending on the location. You get 50percent rebate, and then another discount of the rest....whivh at the end of the day, you might end up paying zero (all subject to income test though...i think you have to earn about 100k and below to qualify). Read further on the website!

About AU$150-200 every fortnight per child below 18, after spending 2yrs. Others like parental allowance, Carer bla bla bla also apply after 2yrs.

But for now, you qualify for Family Tax benefit A and B...which is about AU$150 and above I think, per fortnight per child, which can either be redeemed quarterly or at the end of the year.

You can visit the website of your choice bank. You can choose either ANZ, Westpac, Commonwealth Bank etc. Ensure theybhave enough branvhes in your intended location.

Just visit their website...you will see the 'open migrant banking' logo hovering around or in one corner.

@bossladyMo, God bless you and all others for your help and support.

I work on a farm where there are no payslips or tax and it is part of the requirements to assess my skills. First degree is Agric Econs from Lautech and I have worked in a poultry. Can you please advise? Thanks

bossladyMo:
Phammoy

Seems like your job duties qualify you for Poultry Farmer. Poultry Farmer is on the QLD 489 list as at today.

Step 1 - Google 121321 poultry farmer, and read the jobdescription as outlined by abs.gov.au. See if your current job duties fit at least 75%

Step 2 - Read about the 489 visa well...just google it and click on the immi link. It is a provisional visa that leads to permanent residency after residing and working in a regional area for 2 yrs, but does not entitle you to centrelink or medicare.

If youare fine with the 489 visa...

Take a mock points test, using an average score of 7 in english. You need to get a total score of 60. You get 10 points for selecting a 489 visa, so all you need is to get a 50 from other criteria like age, work experience, english language, credentials.

If you get at least a 60...

1. Get your credentials and work experience assessed by VETASSESS.
2. Register for IELTS
3. Submit EOI
4. Apply for state sponsorship
5. Once invited to apply, lodge your visa application
6. Medicals
7. Visa grant

What are your qualifications?

Thanks for this bossladyMo, it's a medium sized farm so salaries were not automated. I am sure the director would agree to issue payslips for me. This may sound a bit dumb but please take me as I am - would something desinged off excel or msword be ok? (P.S - farm is registered, legitimate and in active operation)

bossladyMo:

Bank statements nko? If you don't have those as well, you will have to tell them to issue you payslips for each month that you've worked for them.....1 payslip every quarter should suffice....most importantly, your first and last payslip

Many thanks for your help on this. I want to ask a big favor bossladyMo, could you please kindly PM me at ***? I found that the visa type you have applied on is the exact one I am working on and you advise will be invaluable. please be assured I would only contact you for sensible enquiries. I have seen in some of your posts you'd be leaving soon ni oh, and I know life can get so busy that you wont be frequent on here... please oh.

bossladyMo:

Something on the letterhead will work. It should contain your payments + benefits, your tax paid, your gross and net salary paid. Your employer reference letter should also state your salary.

Those were the 2 docs I submitted to VETASSESS, and they were accepted.

How to establish a credit history/credit file

You can get a phone contract with your debit card (Optis is currently given 3gb and unlimited local calls and sms plus data sharing plus an S5 for AU$80 per month for 2 years). Once you sign up for a contract, a credit file is automatically opened.

Also, paying your utilities, e.g electricity, gas, also opens a credit file for you.

Good tips my one cent do not I repeat do not use Optus. Very expensive if you are a new migrant and not working and earning 'better' money. Do not sign up for any deal with any network of you are a fledgling migrant. Recharge and use, recharge and call, recharge and browse when you have money.

How to have a good credit file/credit history/credit score

Always pay your bills on time. Don't default. A default above AU$100 will be recorded, and stays on your file for years (5yrs or so). Some defaults below AU$100 can also be recorded,, e.g phone contract defaults.

Always pay up your credit card bills (if you own one). If you can't pay up the full bill, at leadt pay the minimum repayment as agreed with the bank. Not paying up your credit card bills is a sure way to a terrible credit history.

Don't apply for too many credit cards from different banks, even if you qualify for all of them, and don't make too many subsequent applications if you are denied...cos it will only start a chain link of denials. Why? Each crefit card application goes through a credit file check, and each file check is noted on your file. If you apply for too many cards, or in quick succession, the inquiry is noted on your credit file, and it might appear as you requesting for too much credit from different avenues....and each bank that inquires will wonder why you were denied by the preceeding bank(s), and might want to follow suit. Even if you were approved by the first applicatiob, and want to apply for another card from a different bank.....the inquiry checks on your credit file do not show if you were approved or denied...and most banks will just take it as a denial.

Another good tip. My second 2cents do not apply for credit card, if you don't have the money save for it. Credit card is a menace. Many whites are living a false life without a cent to their name because they are owing the banks in car loan, in mortgage, in personal loans etc. Do not get entangled in the Web of available free credit cards which will bury you in a sink hole of debt.

Hmmm....imagine! I feel it all depends on self-control though. Where most people gork is where they spend money they don't habe, just because it is available on their credit card. I know people who are not in any debt (except of course the unavoidable mortgage)...cos they treat their credit card like a debit card. They don't spend what they don't have in their account, and they pay up on time to avoid the interest accruing on it.
