Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari - the APC Presidential candidate has finally released his "WASC Result" (after many weeks of lies, allegation and counter-allegation) as demanded by the Nigerian Constitution and Electoral laws from candidates that want to contest elective positions in the country.

For the sake of clarity, there is a big difference between Statement of Result and Certificate. Statement of Result is issued to a WAEC Candidate by the School s/he took the examination pending the time WAEC would release the main certificate. This is usually few years or so after the examination was taken. And once the certificate is released, the statement becomes invalid.

Buhari claims that he wrote the exam in 1961, so WAEC must have awarded him the certificate which supersedes this Statement of Result he released.

Mere looking at the Statement of Result, you will notice the following:

1. WAEC Format: The format in this Statement of Result was not the format used in the 1960s when Buhari wrote the exam. For instance, there was nothing like SSCE, WASSCE, NECO, May/June in 1960s as seen in the result. What they had then was WASC (West African School Certificate) which was established in 1952. Passport photography is not attached on the Statement of Result. WAEC started attaching passport photography on the certificate in the year 2000.

2. Name: Buhari's name is Muhammadu Buhari, but the result bears Mohammed Buhari. Though, Muhammdu is sometimes spelt as Mohammed, but when it comes certificate documentation, consistency is the watchword. Someone that bears Anthony Buhari cannot lay claim of a certificate that bears Tony Buhari. It is not possible unless a change of name is done. Did Buhari do a change of name? Any proof to that? Besides, his letter seeking to writing RNA qualifying exam dated 18th October, 1961 bears Muhammadu Buhari, how come his statement of result bears a different name?

3. The State the exam was taken: There was nothing like Katsina State in 1961. Katsina was created in 1987 and Buhari took his exam in 1961. How come the result is bearing Ministry of education, Katsina State?

4. Date Issued and Picture: Exam that was taken in 1961, the result is carrying date of 21st January, 2015 and Buhari’s recent picture. How come? Did the school just issue him the Statement of Result after over 5 decades he claims he wrote the exam? If they did, how come they made it to look so old? By the way, there is no need to issue him a statement, since WAEC is there to issue a certificate which supersedes the Statement of Result.

Conclusion: Buhari doesn’t need a Statement of Result “cooked up” by an named Principal of a secondary school. A statement of result is given when WAEC is yet to release the CERTIFICTAE. Buhari’s WAEC certificate of 1961 had already been released long ago if he actually took the exam. So, Buhari should proceed to WAEC for certificate verification since he knows his examination number. Only he can do this since WAEC doesn’t release someone’s result to a third party.

Enough of these lies!!!

Answers to your question
1) There was no SSCE or NECO in 1961, but the result was printed in 2015, you don't expect the ministry or the school to have the 1961 format.
The picture was attached because that is what is obtained now, if you go to WAEC for a copy of a pre 2000 result, they would attach a picture to it.
2)I have the short form of my name on my waec certificate and lots of people have their nick names there. Go to waec office and see the number of people trying to correct there name. Even my surname was misspelled on my waec certificate.
3) This question is so dumb i'm tempted to believe you have a negative IQ.
4) WAEC issues certificate only once, if you are as smart as you are trying to appear, you would have known that. The date (21/15/2015) is the date that this copy was released to who ever asked for it.

Idiot, WAEC is not an exam. It is the body (organisation) that issues WASC results.

Waec means West African Examinations Council

Wasc means West African School certificate.

In Nigeria, WAEC is the "lay term" which we use to describe both.

1. What we have now is WASSCE (West African School Leaving Certificate) not WASC. My history teacher taught me the difference in SS2 or SS3. I can't remember which.
2. WASC was organised by Cambridge University not WAEC because WAEC didn't exist in 1961.

Good one that his result is finally out but my question is How did Buhari manage to score A1 in Igbo Language but score C5 in Hausa Language? In 1961, do they offer Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba Language in the whole schools in Nigeria? I have watched him campaign in East, he didn't use Igbo language to talk to the people yet he scored A1 in Igbo and C5 in his own language and his own town. Pls help me clarify the above questions without sentiment or hate.

We know Buhari went to secondary school. We also know he had classmates. We know too he was the head boy and played football. But what the constitution requires as proof of having attended secondary school for purposes of the forthcoming election is a certificate and not a statement of result. Until that provision is satisfied, Buhari is only qualified to contest in the said election by virtue of the fact that he had served in the army for a minimum of ten years as required by the constitutional provision. Without an original certificate,a certified true copy from Cambridge University WAEC, or a true photocopy of any of these, he has done an irreparable damage to his reputation and credibility even if he wins.

In an ideal society the issue of this certificate supposed not be made public at all, the doubter would have gone to verify. But in a society like ours where fooly is set in high places and the thief as a spoke person anything goes a society where stealing is not corruption. If it were so easy the APC presidential candidate would have provided his certificate rather than swear to an affidavit. Why are they making us belief that the result could be gotten with ease. In as much as won't want the corruption in this Govt to continue, some issues should be presented the way they are. Period.

We all knew that GMB went to secondary school but the fact remains thesame that he Dont have certificate which is required from him to be a president of Nigeria. One question is this for those that support him. Can you get job at bank ,oil company or even at some private company without your university certificate , but his own INEC only want his wece certificate and he is yet to show us and some of you here are supporting him.. please GMB should show us his catificate or step town for Atiku .
