elampiro:martinez faced moyes twice last season with an inferior team & he took 6 points off moyes. moyes is the fool here. * let me divert. Who is the Moyes in Dortmund?what has moyes gotta do with dortmund? you mean moyes is better than klopp? young - hardly fit -------- at least he was fit for a while, and played with Di Maria.rooney can't play from the wings, he's too slow and he cannot dribble. ronaldo at 18 is better than adnan @ 19. Zaha = Pius Ikedia. Lots of dribbling but can't see team mate taking position.he's better than valencia. |

Man Utd 2-0 Wigan Man Utd 01 De Gea 02 Rafael (Smalling 16) 03 Evra 04 Jones 15 Vidic 11 Giggs (Anderson 67) 16 Carrick 23 Cleverley yellow card 19 Welbeck (Januzaj 83) 20 Van Persie (Januzaj 84) 29 Zaha (Valencia 61) Substitutes 13 Lindegaard, 06 Evans, 12 Smalling, 08 Anderson, 25 Valencia, 26 Kagawa, 44 Januzaj * This was the match it was immediately evident that Valencia was miles ahead of Zaha. Zahba was our worst player. When Val came on the difference was immediately seen. We can see that Moyes wanted to help Zaha but Zaha ws not ready. |

coogar:* Where is Martinez now? Does he want to take Everton to relegation? A team Moyes built so well? * On Dortmund. I mean, a team that were serious title contenders last seasons, has been turned to a relegation battling team by Moyes. If only Klopp were around, Dortmund would be 3 points behind B.Munich at the worst. coogar:Rooney has played in the wing almost as same time he has played in the middle in his Man United career. And even England. Last match he did well everytime he went to the wing, and he even gave a cross from an almost impossible angle/situation. * Zaha is better than Val, yet he was sold? Why always unused players seen as better? |

elampiro:how was it evident in the line up you wrote that valencia was better than zaha? united scored all their goals while zaha was on the pitch. valencia made no difference to the scoreline. are we back to pulling conjectures from the air to sway arguments in 2015? |

coogar:I will assume then you didn't see the match or you have forgotten about it. You may as well refer back to the comments on this thread or match day thread. Zaha was an Ekwe Sample in the match. |

elampiro:martinez is doing very well. he's going through the second season syndrome. it happens. martinez is currently 12th on the table. hardly a crisis! moyes finished 17th in his first full season at everton. yes, he built the club so well. a manager that spent 12 seasons in a club and failed to win at anfield, emirates, old trafford & stamford bridge is a disgrace.moyes is a failure. * On Dortmund. I mean, a team that were serious title contenders last seasons, has been turned to a relegation battling team by Moyes. If only Klopp were around, Dortmund would be 3 points behind B.Munich at the worst.these things happen...... klopp won the league at dortmund twice, played in the final of elite europe. moyes won nothing in 12 seasons @ everton. martinez won FA cup for wigan. a loser is a loser. Rooney has played in the wing almost as same time he has played in the middle in his Man United career. And even England. Last match he did well everytime he went to the wing, and he even gave a cross from an almost impossible angle/situation.rooney at 22 is different from rooney at 29. why not resign beckham then, if it's about past glory? rooney that cannot outpace mascherano is who you want to put on the wing? * Zaha is better than Val, yet he was sold? Why always unused players seen as better?ronaldo was sold, rooney & berbatov must be better than him. bale was sold, lennon must be better than him. pique was sold, o'shea must be better than him. strawman argument! |

It's almost a year since Moyes was sacked. We cannot blame our calamities on Moyes forever for the very rot which were emanating already with Scholes' departure and aging players. Anyone blaming Moyes but exonerating Gaal is indirectly saying Gaal is incompetent. How long did it take Tottenham new coach to improve the team when AVB was sacked. After being notified early he was the new coach while Giggs held brief. After inheriting Mata and Fellani as new additions. After a well planned preseason,. After spending £150m. After 23 matches. Manchester United fans still exonerate Gaal but think Moyes should be blamed for the club issues. Life is unfair due to man inhumanity to man. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 1:23am On Feb 02, 2015 |
coogar:* Moyes did not inherit an Everton team which finished 4th-7th, but a relegation batting side. You see the difference. * klopp: You said these things happen. Lol. Same way Moyes was the victim of circumstance at Man United. It could have still happen to SAF. According to the analysis I met on the thread, Klopp was suppose to be better than SAF. So if it happened to Klopp, it could have happened to SAF. Moyes fall enter aged team. * Till Rooney plays in the wing before you say. In 2012/13 he won a MOTM playing n the right wing in a certain match. He scored two goals. * You want to compare Ronaldo and Bale sale to that of Zaha? Ronaldo asked to go, Zaha is a reject. You think Zaha is a happy man now? |

Louis van Gaal has conceded that David de Gea could be lured to the Bernabeu by Real Madrid - but has stressed Manchester United will fight to keep their number one. The Spaniard is rated by United captain Wayne Rooney as the best goalkeeper in the world after a sensational season of points saving, man of the match displays from the 24-year-old. But there has been radio silence over a new agreement and Real remain a huge threat. Asked if De Gea was going to sign a new deal Van Gaal replied, “I think that is also a question between the player and the board of Manchester United." But pressed as to whether the manager feared his goalkeeper would leave for La Liga if a deal wasn't done in the near future he added, "Everything is possible in the world of football. We want to keep him.” [Source: M.E.N] |

chrisley024:I am sure if we were doing well, he would have been given more playing time. But how does a coach sacrifice when he is struggling? The most difficult thing was that Zaha went to Cardiff and was relegated to the bench after a a few games. What does that tell anyone? He has only had two 90 minutes for Palace this season. Zaha at Cardiff Mins played 585 (5 starts, 7 subs). Pass accuracy 79% Dispossessed every 15 minutes. The worst in Cardiff. Unsuccessful touch every 34 minutes. Second worst player for Cardiff. Zaha at Palace Mins played 776 (9 starts, 7 subs). Pass accuracy 77% Dispossessed every 43 minutes. The worst behind Chamakh. Unsuccessful touch every 33 minutes. Second worst player behind Chamakh. This season for instance, Zaha only had 90 minutes against Sundrland and Villa. His playing time keeps deteriorating. He hardly gets picked against teams occupying the top 8 position in the EPL. Even when he manages to feature he gets less than 25 mins of playing time. No doubt he is a good dribbler, but not at all a good footballer for the now. |

chrisley024:May be football then and now is different. Chelsea, Man City, Madrid, Barca, (even Bayern recetly) have killed that process of having to give talented youth a few seasons to come great through regular first team football. Players and managers are not patient anymore. Even we fans aren't patient at all. Coogar and I always question Januzaj decision making. Ronaldo was terrible in decision making when he first arrived with his too much leg overs that often made him lost possession. Note also that we haven't a balanced team to accommodate learners. Bayern Munich and Madrid can afford to accommodate even Ayila of Falconets against small opponents and still come out victorious. |

Robinho Jo Wright Phillips Adebayo Negredo Barry Onuoha Lescott Balotteli Tevez Craig Bellamy Etc City made hard choices to get a stabilized team. Even if it means taking Rooney, RVP, Mata, Fellaini to be flushed out to get a team as good as Bayern and Madrid. So be it. Who get time for delay for modern football? Ofcourse there will always be some payers lost who will do well else where. Like Robben and Ibrahimovic who became world class in new clubs. Part of what happens when a coach makes hard choices. |

parrotibaba:Ask yourself why is it you are the only one asking questions on this. parrotibaba:2007/2008 Red Devil Attack- United had an extremely dangerous front line. Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Nani, and Louis Saha were all capable of playing positions up front and all of them were dangerous scoring threats (even Louis Saha, when healthy). The most frequent starting lineup had Carlos Tevez starting centrally, while Cristiano Ronaldo would start on the right wing and Wayne Rooney would start on the left wing. There are few attacking lineups that could be more potent. Ronaldo scored 42 goals in 49 appearances, Tevez scored 19 in 48 appearances, and Rooney picked up 18 in 43 appearances. These three players scored 79 out of United’s 103 goals. http://redrants.com/the-tactics-board-is-fergies-solution-the-4-2-1-3/ * I will try and fetch you more evidence. Even SAF explained in 2011 why he had to use Rooney in the wing for stretch of games. |

[quote author=parrotibaba post=30351906]During Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Old Trafford, Rooney sacrificed himself to play on the left wing. After Ronaldo’s departure, he took the mantle of main goalscorer. After Robin van Persie’s arrival, he again shifted to his favored #10 role. Under van Gaal, he has played as a forward (#9), playmaker(#10) and has now shifted to a box-to-box midfielder role(# .http://thinkfootball.co.uk/how-has-wayne-rooney-developed-into-a-midfielder-under-louis-van-gaal/ |

parrotibaba:He also played many matches on the left, particularly when SAF used 4-3-3 in difficult away games. There were also matches Ronaldo was used as the striker. In the UCL Rooney was mostly used in the wing. |

elampiro:moyes inherited a team that just finished winning the premier league and he dropped them to the 7th position. how is he not a failure? SAF never finished lower than 3rd since the start of the premier league in 93. moyes is a ruminant animal. he had plenty of lethargic seasons too at everton. didn't he finish 11th in 05/06? didn't he finish 8th in 09/10? what's the brilliance in moyes that never won a single title in everton? what's the comparison to a serial winner like klopp? * klopp: You said these things happen. Lol. Same way Moyes was the victim of circumstance at Man United. It could have still happen to SAF. According to the analysis I met on the thread, Klopp was suppose to be better than SAF. So if it happened to Klopp, it could have happened to SAF. Moyes fall enter aged team.it happened to klopp cos dortmund became a selling team. selling their best players to their direct rivals. they lost gotze, lewandowski, etc to bayern. they didn't even invest the money to buy competent replacement. it was always going to happen that they would suffer. blame the management, don't blame klopp. if they had kept all their players, they wouldn't be where they are today. * Till Rooney plays in the wing before you say. In 2012/13 he won a MOTM playing n the right wing in a certain match. He scored two goals.rooney isn't a winger. he's slow, lethargic, cannot dribble, etc. the reason SAF played him there in some tough european games is because of his energy to track back, not because of his attacking qualities. when he played there against barcelona & chelsea(UCL 2008), he was anonymous throughout. * You want to compare Ronaldo and Bale sale to that of Zaha? Ronaldo asked to go, Zaha is a reject. You think Zaha is a happy man now?sale is sale! the fact that a player was sold has nothing to do with his quality. any player can be sold. madrid sold robben off like suya. does it mean robben was wack? |

I saw this which was published in 2008. ....Rooney is far happier to take a back seat and sacrifice himself for the sake of our club. Fergie has today conceded that it his willingness to allow Rooney to do this which has cost him the praise he deserves. “I have to take a bit of responsibility for it,” Fergie said. “He’s sacrificed himself and never complained about it, which says a lot for the lad. He will score goals. He scored a couple against Aston Villa last season after not scoring for seven games and I thought that would have catapulted him into a good run, but we kept using him in different positions. We need to define his role better. I think his best position is through the middle, either a front role or tucking in just behind. He can play either role very well. He is aggressive, has two feet, good pace, he has the courage to get in the box. It’s great credit to the lad that he never complains. Some players know what their best position is and they don’t want to challenge themselves in any other one, but Wayne would play centre half [if he was asked to].” Players showing their willingness to be versatile is an important characteristic, and one that comes when they have the club at the top of their list of priorities. Roy Keane started in the 2004-2005 season in the centre of defence, Ryan Giggs ended the 2005-2006 season playing as a central midfielder, Owen Hargreaves slotted in at right back on several occasions last season. No player should be ‘too big’ to play this sacrificing role, whereby their performance is likely to be less dazzling, less impressive and less worthy of praise. The club has to come first. Every time Rooney plays out wide, to accommodate the different tactics we’ve employed in Europe, as well as making room for the likes of Ronaldo, Tevez and Nani, he is putting United’s glory ahead of his own, which is admirable. Can’t praise him enough and I’m glad to see Fergie taking some of the burden of the criticism off Rooney’s shoulders. |

@Elampiro no need for long arguments ,like I said b4 Rooney rarely played/plays on d winger in his united career ,yes against Real Madrid ,Barcelona(in '09) he played on d wings but in he was never dia for long except when we play d 4-3-3 formation which SAF rarely played... In d 2007/2008 season ,we had d likes of ji-sung-park ,Ryan giggs(he never played in midfield until in 09 when he began to tire n SAF thought it wise to utilize his experience in midfield) n Nani lining up on d left wing while d Rooney/Tevez combo terrorized opponents dat season ,I remember a commentator calling dat partnership d deadliest in Europe dat time ,den cr7 had d right wing all to himself n whenever he was injured or suspended, Nani moved to d right so I don't get where u got d idea dat Rooney lined up regularly on d left wing during dat season |

parrotibaba:He played many matches in the wing. You didnt follow up well. He was mostly in the wings in difficult matches, particularly in UCL. For instance, in 2008 he was in the wing in Rome. In 2009, he was in the wing against Arsenal to track Theo Walcott. In the final against Barca he was in the wing. In 2011 he had a run of matches in the wing. In 2012/13 he was played in the wing in some matches, not just against Madrid. * His time in the wing dates back to 2005.
