Thank God everytin worked out well. I travelled with my daughter and at POE the officer had to stand to see her and asked if i showed d embassy a zero balance for her bills when renewing my visa. That was all.

Hello @lalavita and @justwise.
Went to see the consular officer today and all went well. He only needed to see our burden of proof and I had bank statements and also a quote from the US hospital. He did however refer to last year's interview and I told him I wasn't aware I was pregnant at the time and I was only renewing for my vacation in December which I've since embarked on. He then proceeded to tell me about not using the public healthcare system etc.
Thanks a lot!

lalavita:
Go with your full burden of proof.
- Dr and Hospital correspondence
- Bank statements
- Budget for trip
etc...

Also reflect on your first appointment so you have your facts right. Just be honest and pray.
All the best.

Hello everyone. To the glory of God, got into New York yesterday night, Nigerian time. In the spirit of giving back I would love to share my experience.
It was favor all through for me from Naija airport.
The officer checkn box didn't check mine cos he said he didn't want to stress me and I had lots of tins there, like oil, indomie, utazi, scent leaf etc. I checked in my luggage and used thefast track lane for for boarding. I flew KLM to Amsterdam and Delta to new York.
KLM didn't ask me for any fit to fly (didn't knw whether to be happy or not, after paying big for it and the stress d hsptal put me thru b4 providing one) bt thanks to God.
Flight to Amsterdam was uneventful, at Amsterdam they 'interview' every one going to the U.S for security reasons b4 u can go to the boarding gate.
I was asked questns like, where I work, my country, wat I do for my company, who I would stay with, how long has she been in the states, her address. If they r satisfied with ur answers they would return ur passport to u. In all, it's about the confidence used in answering them.

We got to New York and I had to join the queue. One of the traffic officers saw me, took my passport, I guess he wanted to help, he asked the purpose of my visit, I said vacation and child birth. The man sharply returned my passport without saying anything. Na so I jejely remain for queue.
It got to my turn. I handed over my passport with my ticket in btw. D CBP officer sees that am still going to Buffalo (a city in New York).
He asked y Buffalo. Told hm my sister s dre.
Asked hw she got there. Told him transfer from the office as she was formerly in Washington.
Said okay.
Asked if I had foodstuffs. I said yes, I had garri and... he interrupts and ask if I v fish, I said yes bt deboned dried fish.
He says okay, tkes my fingerprints and stamps me in for 6 months and ask me to enjoy my stay.
To the glory of God. No document was asked for, my luggage wasn't checked, neither did he ask hw much I had on me or the purpose of my visit.

Left to claim my luggage and checked in for the last flight. For those coming into New York, it's pretty cold as snow s still falling.
Thank u all and sorry for the long post. Now waiting for baby to come.

hi peeps,

Pls can anyone tell me what the POE experience in Atlanta is like or perceived to be? Or nicely refer me to the page(s) where it has been discussed in the past, as I am considering going through Atlanta or JFK.

Pls dont be quick to ask me to read from page one to last, as I have tried to search past discussions on this with no luck.

Thanks.

There is nothing to be scared about Houston POE. Just be prepared ,be truthful and be confident. Once you have the neccesary burden of proof documents and enough cash to show that you can pay your bills. Afterall coming to the states to give birth is not ilegal.

Hi dear, i had my 1st baby in dallas fort worth still plannin to use them again this june, i used jps health in fort wort,i called their accounts person last week cos she gave me her personnal no and she said the rules have changed, the have an obgy self pay package which i used the last time of 2500 for VD and 3500 for CS,doctors is 1500 for VD and 2000 for CS exclusive of lab, epidural etc. But she said that though the package still remains the same prize but its now now for tarrant county residents only and suggested i try parkland hospital. So i think you shld discuss wit the people you are stayin with to see if the are tarrant county residents and then go to the hosiptal and talk to them since you have your cash. When are travelling to dallas pls and which airline do you intend to use?

Hello everyone, am a silent reader, infact over silent is an understatement.. But I promised myself to give back 'cos I also learnt from this topic. I successfully got to Houston last night by God's grace, using doctor fagbohun( am yet to call to book an appointment tho. Still resting)lol. Poe was Atlanta.. It was smooth but they took me for secondary inspection sha o. I discover for we pregnant women, it is all about your confidence and as long as you have enough money to cover your medical bills throughout your stay, and very truthful. Even if you lie and you are overconfident with no altered stories say everything match, then you are good to go.lol
CBP officer: good morning ma'am, what brings you to the US?
Me: to have my baby
CBP: why Us?
Me: it is my first child and what the best medical care
CBP: but there are good doctors in Nigeria
Me: true but I did my degree research on maternal mortality and Nigeria has a high rate of maternal mortality. I don't wanna take any chances
CBP: how far gone are you? 29weeks plus
CBO: have you been to the states before? I said yes.
How much do you have on you? I told him
He then asked me to thumb print. Asked where I will be staying and I answered with a family friend. Asked where my husband is and I answered he is back in Nigeria but coming after I give birth after he asked why he is not with me. He then took the phone n called for me to be taken for secondary inspection(in my mind I said na una sabi, na sleep de worry me.lol)

Secondary inspection;
I was asked to take a sit in a room with few people. Then was called after awhile. The officer asked almost same questions as the first. But this time asked me to bring out the money, took me to a separate room to count the dollars( as he was counting he looked tired sef, he got to a point and said I will just take your word for it.lol) he asked if I had made contact with any doctor and I said yes. Asked for what I do and my husband's occupation.
When we came out, his colleague asked him*she got the money? He replied yes.
Naso we crack little joke before I left showed me where to pick my baggage.
No single document of mine was checked. They did not even ask name of doctor or ask for correspondence, bills and budget. But I had all those burden of proof with me. You can never tell when the devil wanna act.lol.

Hello All,

This Forum is loaded with lots of info. I have learnt a lot after reading through most of the pages, though not all and based on this wealth of info, I have decided on Texas to give birth. There is a BUT. Its either ELPASO or Dr Fagbohun in Houston and the main reason holding me back is affordable accomodation in Houston close to Dr Fagbohun and Oakbend as I prefer Houston to ELPASO. Can someone pls help with acc in Houston? Most of the responses are not detailed, no contact, no email as its not allowed here. Please help a SIS in need. I am due to travel in April and already contacted ELPASO and Dr Fagbohun but preference is Dr Fagbohun. Thanks and congrats to the new moms and success stories.

@ Tvegas and any other NairaLander that has used Dr Fagbohun at Oakbend, does the 2,200usd he charges does he have a registration fee? I read from here that there is an initial visit fee of 150usd? Is dis included in the 2,200usd for normal delivery or is it separate? I am still reading through the 35c pages of this thread..i'm not yet done but I need this info pls...Pls I await ur answers...thank you fam

The quote i got from him is $150 for First office visit, $150 for Ultrasound at first visit for singleton, vaginal delivery is $2400 BUT 20% discount is given if full payment is made by the 2nd office visit. so it could be 20% off $2400 = $1920 +$300= $2220 OR $2400+300) = $2700 with 20% off = $2160.

I cant say which is which for now.

From Tvegas' info: his fees is $2200.
