Good people of Nairaland, please i am a lover of Dogs and wants to take my love for them beyond keeping them as pets but to delve into breeding. I do not want to breed anything less than pedigree and so i want help on how I can import pedigree GSD a.k.a Slant back (Male). Please how do I go about it?

OK thanks..I don't mind buying from him i am just scared not getting the real stuff and also as a breeder u know the pride that comes with the fact that you imported it coupled with our mentality as Nigerians when you are using it for stud services..So how do u want to help? Why is he showing teeth in that picture? Is it because his back is paining him? Just kidding; congrats.

This is our first picture today..He is doing well, very troublesome, hyperactive and just wants you to spend all the time with him.

Cooper i believe will be a great companion.

Cooper is looking great and energy is one the the reason I love those breeds. Spend a lot of time with him and don't over train him yet. I would let him play under my supervision and crate him when I'm not around .

Couldn't post this yesterday was busy with other stuffs..It was our evening hang out..While in the garden this chicken strayed into our space; Cooper was not happy and immediately went for his head.

Wow! Cooper, though was unable to cut off the head but he succeeded in holding the chicken down.

Why do Vets visits? Sorry i have to use question to give u an answer..I read your submission where you were totally against vaccination. We may have some interactions on the subject matter to learn from each other.. What do u think? Cooper was properly vaccinated before it was shipped, its next vaccine date is March 2nd, the Vet is just visiting to give him a hand shake and introduce himself to him as his Doctor.

Well I have seen a lot of vaccinated dogs/pups die recently because if the outbreak of the so call parvovirus. My question is why are they dying, even when they are vaccinated? Non of my dogs are vaccinated including the pups . A vet got a pup from me and he vaccinated his own pup and the dog was infected the following weeks while others are just doing fine. I don't want to discuss anything on here about that but I think your dog is already vaccinated and give him no more shot. You have my number you can call me for my method .

Thanks. I understand your concern, there could be a lot other factors that must have led to the death of the Pup these include the following but not the least: The Pup new environment, other pets within the environment, the health/hygiene standard of the new owner, the efficacy of the vaccine, don`t forget that most sellers of this vaccine are quacks that have no knowledge of it is storage and handling. As a result of poor Vet practices, unregulated vaccine market dominated by crude business men and women staying out of vaccination seems better at the short run.

Nonetheless, i am willing to learn from you, compare and contrast to build my knowledge.
I rescued a 2 months Puppy (Caucasian) from a friend, 3 months it came down with the Parvovirus, on investigation i learnt from the Vet that my friend skipped the vaccination,i almost gave up on the Pup because it was terrible but the Vet assured me that he will do his best to save her life,he swung into action with various vaccination and through this period the Pup was only taking glucose added to water.

The Pup is 6 months old today and in good health doing fine. I will surely call you.

Hmmm we learn everyday,as for me I have learnt not to ever joke with vaccinations,a bad breeder sold an infected caucassian to my client, the next day D client called that the pup would not eat,I asked him to take the pup to PVC which he did and was tested positive of parvo,I took the pup from him and told D breeder, but D breeder was not co operating,
I did not take D pup to my kennel dat nite but I bought a fish to try if he will eat and he only sniffed it.I finally gave the fish to one GSD pup not knowing only the sniffing could pose D prob.I took the caucassian on admission and 3days later the GSD that ate the sniffed showed symptoms,I quickly took him to the vets,2days later by boerboel pups showed signs plus my imported 5mths old bullmastiff.to cut the story short, the ones that eventually died are the ones I did not vaccinate in time.I lost 3 of my pups plus the imported bullmastiff and the cauccassian.ever since then I don't joke with vaccines & its been worth it.
I only make sure I buy the vaccines myself and do the needles by myself.

So the dead ones were not vaccinated? And the imported ones to?

Hey! Sorry i have not been able to update the thread with Coopers development for a few days now. Cooper has been finding it difficult to eat any of the food i provided for him..He became weak as he only drinks water with glucose, i just got royal canine for GSD for him yesterday and beef meat which he is eating now.

My little Daughter fed him with cooked chicken that has bones in my absences while my wife fed him raw chicken..Wow! Nice people, Cooper got a lot of companions but Alas! He started stooling blood and purging as well.

He was given an antibiotics and today he showed great signs of recovery, though he is still not the usual Cooper. He is doing fine now and i hope in few days will be back in our garden to catch some fun.

Wow, that's scary. I'm glad that he's recovering. It's not so bad to give puppies chicken bones, but you should start with very small bones and watch the puppy carefully to see whether he is chewing the bones well, and also watch the poop to see whether he's digesting them well. I once made a mistake of giving my dog a whole catfish from the supermarket. He could not digest the cartilage in the head of the fish and started pooping blood. Eventually he pooped the undigested head of the fish & I learned my lesson. If he was a pup, he would probably have died.

Honestly, its scary.
I have been by his side all day given him all the care he needs and this evening he is back running around.. I have been pleading with him to slow down but Cooper wants me to believe he is in form.

Please can you share the whole healthy diet that you give your dog? Thanks.
Meanwhile, Cooper will not eat fish, boiled, fried, cooked or roasted and now he does not eat chicken too even it is fried or boiled. The Royal Canine for GSD and beef is just his favorite.

The first time I gave my pups chicken neck, the guys swallowed it without chewing and I was a bit scared but they were just fine and digested it well. Don't give your dog any boiled bones either fish or chicken. As for royal canine I think it's the best out there for kibble feeders. Please be careful with the little guy because he is my favorite on here.

When you are playing tug with him, make sure his paws touch you before letting him win, draw him closer if you need to because you are teaching him how to fight.
