@lalavita Thank you for the advise truly appreciate this ma'am. Yea that's the reason I am travelling early as my preggie will not noticeable at that stage. Would Informing the embassy be ideal as we have not travelled to the USA before, this would be our first time, won't our visa be cancelled? But if I go in unnoticed would that be a problem?

the thing is, like others have said, tell the truth. No point in lying ad complicating issues. You were not pregnant at the time of interview, which u can proove with a pregnancy scan result. Better to inform the embassy of your intentions and if possible, shift your travel dates so u can have enough time after delivery. Wish u d best

Hi Everyone one,
Please i will like to know if i should try this once again if i wont be refused. 2 years again i applied for a US visa that i was going for a cousin's weding, but i was denied a visa cos the lady that interviewed me ask if i was pregnant which was so glaring that i was pregnant but i lied that i was not ,3months later i delivered my baby here in Nigeria, i almost die after the delivery cos the baby"s palcenta was not all evacuated from my womb. Applied with my husband and son last year may for our church conference but we were denied because i lied the last time i was pregnant.
This year now am pregnant and i want to apply again myself alone without my husband an son ,but this time around and ready to say the truth and also pay all the hospital bills before going to the embassy. but i will like to know if it's safe to make all payments for hospital bills and hotels bills before showing my face at the embassy. as am 16weeks now
I dont think its mandatory for you to make payments before going for your visa interview,i think all they are intrested in is to see that you have made adequate arrangments. You can get doctors correspondence without paying in advance, you can also book accomodation on booking.com without making any initial payments. Just be truthful and pray for favour. I have read of people on this forum that got their visa on the 3 attempt. If your previous attempts has been from lagos,If you can,i will advce you to try abuja, this time around

Maam, if you go thru all the responses you have been getting on this your enquiry, you will notice that they all point to the same thing: BE TRUTHFUL!!!. If you weren't preggy at the time of your visa interview, you have no reason to be worried about getting caught or not. Except you are not stating the truth. There is something called change of intent notification. Send that to the embassy to inform them that you were unable to travel for the initial purpose for which the visa was granted. There is no law that says you must travel at a particular time just because you were granted a visa. Circumstances beyond your control might have come up. Just be sure you get your burden of proof ready in case you are asked to come in for an interview (you can get a lot of info on this thread on how to get in touch with hospitals and doctors in your preferred location). There is no harm in that once you show ability to pay. Travelling to the US at 16 weeks to stay till you are due doesn't make any sense. Why not save the money for living expenses for that duration and add to your medical bills. You can't fool the system. These people keep records. And I mean records. You can't hide. You will eventually get caught anyway and then start regretting. Better do things the right way from the beginning. Don't complicate things for yourself and others! My 2 cents. A word is.....

@Airpure thanks for your respose., truly appreciate. But my fear since I didn't state during my interview at the embassy that I was coming to give birth in the USA (though was not pregnant as at that time I applied), is it right to say at POE that I am here for that purpose if asked? Though I have the feeling I won't be asked since my prey is not visible yet, but if asked should i say yes? Is it also wise i take along email correspondence with the hospitals and i will be carrying abt $5k cash....

If asked pls say yes. I m of d opinion that anything less Dan $10k may raise concerns ..5k way too small.plus u will surely be asked how long u stayin over 6 months not possible also says u ve no job or business ties.

Either wait n go when ur preggy has progressed with change of intent letter or u go now come back n go layer.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Vineb: 1:21pm On Feb 16, 2015
@ Mamarondo: I total agree with what everyone has said. Tell the truth. You can send a letter of change of intent to the embassy. Get your dr correspondent n if you can make some payment. I have a friend that used WHMC she paid $1,500 from her dr fees n had $4000 with her at houston POE with her bank statement n all n she was not taken to secondary inspection. So you don't have to come in with $10,000 before you will be allowed in. Pray to God for directions
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Vineb: 1:25pm On Feb 16, 2015
@ Idileke1: if you can pay some of your bills before going to the embassy it might help. N you can always give a reason for going to Abuja that's not a big deal. N you don't have to pay for hotel before going, you can get your reservation n all.

To back your case about wanting to come to the U.S. for better medical care when you give birth, you can go with the report of the complication you had when you had your first baby. In pray to baba God for favor.

I don't agree with you that anything less then $10k is low. I came to US with houston as my POE when I was 23weeks pregnant n I had $7500 with me. Had email correspondent from dr Fagbohun with analysis of his bills, had my bank statement, my hubby's bank statement n pay stubs etc . N I showed a medical report of 2 pregnancy I loss in Nigeria due to complications as my reason for coming in early. I didn't have issues at all.
Before I joined this group I used to think traveling with $10k n above was an issue. I actually joined the group after I got to houston. Na make baba God grant us favor be koko.

This question get as e be cos my wife was the one that gave birth, but have seen like 3 or more ladies here that did cs ,recovery at any stage depends on individuals,in a day one would be out of the hospital and go home to take care of yourself, because outside the package,An extra day is $900 so I guess with that kind of money one doesnt have a choice than to be strong, but they are very good and you can barely notice thats why the ladies start moving about well after the procedure.

From my experience I think recovering from CS depends on how much you can cope with pain. For me before its one week am ok. But will still feel pain on the area of the cut for a while.

hello everyone,
i seriously dont get this. Does a POE officer have the right to check through one's things? I've been to other countries by Grace and a POE officer only requests for anything he needs from you. On no occasion has my phone or bag been checked for information. Anyone with key information, please let's know. Maye it's the confidence you show them that matters on this issue or what? @Justwise, any idea?

Sadly they have the right to go through your stuff including your phones, the UK, Australia and US does that.

Hello House,

Any houston-bound (preferably using oakbend) August mum looking to share a room before baby arrives?

Pls holla! I have no intention of being bored. grin

Atleast we can go shopping / gist together before we get our hands full.

Thanks.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by HotChoco2(f): 2:51pm On Feb 16, 2015
Pls does anyone have the contact details for Oakbend (i.e. the email address for the hospital). I have gotten in touch with Dr Z / Dr Fagbohun but i have not been able to get the hospital's email address.

Or does the doctor's letter alone suffice?

Your phone can't be searched except it's a criminal offense like terrorism/drugs.
Immigration has the right to search your things on suspicion of anything like carrying contraband etc

Thank you so much for this info, was actually trying to find out. Please am wondering, can I buy PTA on my son's ticket too?

isysleek:
Morning house,

In other news, just did PTA at Access Bank today for N203 to a dollar. But you (the traveller) need to have an account with them.

Diamond bank is also selling today at N203.5 to a dollar. If you don't have an account, you can use ur spouse account bt the spouse has to issue a cheque and an authorisation letter, authorising his account to be debited with the naira equivalent.

Maximum PTA is $4k per quarter.

Hi,it depends on your body system. When he did mine last year, I was up and about the next day though with pain but I was able to walk down to the accounts department myself without help from my mum or the nurses. They give you good pain killers so I guess that contributes too

Hi House, Thanks for all your wonderful info, I have been reading along but Please a quick question to the guru's in the house I need Dr. Faboghun email address, Can't find it on this thread (I don read and search tire I beg), Please help me with the email address or the page number on this thread where I can find it.

Secondly, for those who wrote letter to the embassy for change/letter of intent/information, what was the means for sending your letter? Was it by email or by post? Which ever way used, Kindly state the means and assist me with address as I still intend to inform the embassy(I don't want surprises, I'll rather inform them and get the usual response and go with it instead of been asked if I informed the embassy and my answer is NO because My visa was not issued from Nigeria but now I reside in Nigeria, I will use that way to update my info with the embassy before POE immigration officers surprise one). Thanks awaiting response.

@och don't remeber your Handle well if u up for it you can surely still apply before your due date

I had a friend do so when she was sent bk from Houston at 34weeks for failing to declare her first pregnancy cos they could not get tru to the dr to re verify her zero balance. Determined she came bk to naijja reapplied immediately n she was granted another visa but they warned her that Poe officers can still send her back

However she went bk at 37 weeks( quite risky) n the Poe officers didn't even ask her questions cos she changed her Poe and she had her burden of proof intact

So it really depends on you....

Sorry this is wrong.
Yes it is within their rights to search your phone or laptop at the border/POE.
This happens in the USA, Canada, Australia etc...
They do not need to suspect criminal activities in order to do this

You can read about it on the CBP website or read this article
http://www.dailydot.com/politics/supreme-court-phone-warrant-us-border/

Watch shows like Border Force etc...and you'll see it in action.

If there is anything you dont want them to see on your phone. Delete it before you travel.

Just read the link o. Please clear your phones biko. They don't need permission or warrant to go thru your things sad See an excerpt from the write-up. "Whether anyone will be able to have his or her day in court to make that argument remains to be seen. Until that happens, international travelers concerned about their privacy at border crossings may want to heed the warning circuit court Judge Edward Korman, who wrote in a recent ruling affirming CBP’s ability to warrantlessly search electronic devices at the border that it "would be foolish, if not irresponsible" to travel abroad with sensitive data on your device.

Basically, Korman argued, if you don’t want government agents to see your private information, don’t try to bring it into the country".

It seems like you've made up your mind to conceal this pregnancy and travel like and then you're looking for some validation here! Everyone has advised you not lie about it especially because there's no way you'll go at 16wks (20wks sef!) and be back in Nigeria before the 6months they'll for you at the POE is up!
Please don't create problems for yourself and ruin for those of us trying to do the right thing!
