Correct, there are no SANDF men in Nigeria

There are however South African mercenaries in Nigeria

Those Southies are fools on nairaland, South African mercenaries have NEVER flown jet fighters in their lives. Where is their airbase in South Africa and the name of the jets they fly? Zima will allow racist era white ex-soldiers to operate private air force inside South Africa? Nobody flies a jet fighter in combat without standard qualifying pilot hours of practice on a yearly regular basis.

Nigeria is Alpha jet master of this world, even Germany and France that built Alpha jet cannot match us, NAF has used Alpha jet in combat for 25 years. The NAF Alpha jets of today are new upgrades with laser guided bombs and other PGM. F-7 jet cannot be flown without training in China, so how does a local Soweto based mercenary fly F-7 supersonic jet?

SA mercenaries are obsolete rifle men of 1980s era, how will they train Nigeria to operate BTR-4 IFV that is ultra modern and entered service around 2010 ? Missile armed drones, ATR-42 Surveyor ELINT aircraft, equipment that even today's SANDF does not have, how will 1980s old mercenary from Soweto teach Nigeria to use it?

Norinco LG-3 AGL, BVP M80 IFV, latest generation of sophisticated equipments that never existed in apartheid era, how does a mercenary of 1980 operate that, talk less of teaching another person to use it.

Nigeria is flying Mi-35 Hind E combat helicopter gunship 2014 latest version with FLIR/TV and advanced avionics that no Southie mercenary has ever seen in his life time....only Russia can train a user on Hind E....how does a rifle man mercenary train NAF on ultra modern equipment that even SAAF and SANDF does not have today 2015 ?

Chief those Nairaland Southies are the fools I said they are grin grin

Paramount has a squadron of Mirages and a flying/training school

You are confusing technical training and tactical training. We dont teach you how to maintain and service equipment we teach you how to use it in combat

Your alpha jets are a joke and you have yet to show us that they can drop PGM's. Germany and France only use them as trainers.

Fact of the matter is that we train you

I just don't get it, NA has been the one that was being trained by the US until nigeria terminated it citing odd practices. NAF however, has enough pilots and are even training in russia and Pakistan for the new incoming platforms. so, use common sense and stop being ignorant.

Perhaps, news of sadf in nigeria will make your girlfriends cum as you've not being able to get them to. I dont get all the fuss

3 of one of these will soon be bought...

I wish I knew the exact specifications so I could narrow down the list... all i know is that SAN want the OPV to be over 90 meters and be around 2000t or over, have facilities to house an organic helo, and be able to launch and recover said helo in sea-state 4.

These vessels are those which match the criterion (that I know of) and are from shipyards that have been linked to Biro.

Anyone know what the IPV specifications are? All I know is that they are to be around 300t to 500t

Pic 1: Damen OPV2600
Pic 2: Navantia Avante 2200
Pic 3: Lurssen Patrol Vessel PV 80
Pic 4: Gowind OPV

I personally like the OPV2600 (now that I have read up on it), the Avante 220 and Gowind. In my opinion the Lurssen is too limiting of a design

Istanbul Shipyards is also interested - suggesting that the MILGEM Corvette is an option, and this makes me happy because it is a beast - but not really what (i think) we are looking for

Facts are facts

and its not the SANDF in Nigeria - its South African contractors and we are trying to teach you how to use equipment, not how to operate or maintain it.

I cannot stress how big the difference between operating/maintaining equipment and using it effectively is.

how will they train Nigeria to operate BTR-4 IFV that is ultra modern and entered service around 2010

They will train you how to employ it properly. They will teach you about mobility warfare and logistics

Missile armed drones,

You dont have any

ATR-42 Surveyor ELINT aircraft

We will teach you how to fuse the data it collects with ground operations. Again - we teach you how to effectivly use equipment, not operate it.

Norinco LG-3 AGL, BVP M80 IFV, latest generation of sophisticated equipments that never existed in apartheid era, how does a mercenary of 1980 operate that, talk less of teaching another person to use it.

The SADF was the first major military to standardize the use of MGL's, and we currently have a standardized AGL (while you only have them in limited numbers), so yes - there is plenty we can teach you about both.

BVP M80? You mean an IFV from the 1980's? How is that latest generation? And it very much existed in the apartheid era!

Furthermore, your major failing is assuming all these men training your army are from the SADF... what is to say that they are not men who have left the SANDF for more money or through retirement?

Clown, you could potentially have men who flew Rooivalk in the early 2000's flying your Hinds for you.

Yet again, your argument is based on an ad hominem, and yet again, I have wrecked it.

Maybe some can, probably most cant.

Look, driving a MBT and using it in combat (ie: crew tasks) is actually pretty simple stuff, all of us on this forum would be able to do it with less than a weeks training (we would be very bad, but we could do the basics).

So, no, most likely they are not there to teach you how to operate equipment.

They are most likely there to teach you how to effectively employ equipment.

But I dont understand why the argument is limited to equipment - why are we fixating on this?

Many men will simply be there as "teachers" - passing on knowledge to infantry about small squad tactics, maneuvers, CQB, bush warfare etc - A video posted on this forum very recently showed "white" men doing just that. And my bet is that the majority who were sent will be either "teaching" at training camps or advising in the field (being embedded with command) with a handfull providing more skilled training to air-crew or command elements.

This is exactly the model that Executive Outcomes employed in operations against UNITA in Angola

Thank you for bringing this up. The video shows white men providing technical support. The video also shows the same white men carrying Tavor-21 carbines.

South-Africans do not use the Tavor-21.

The Nigerian Army been supported do not also use the Tavor-21.

So, provide a guess which country the white guys come from?

The pictures and videos are not the primary evidence of the presence of South African mercenaries in Nigeria.

The story was there long before the emergence of the pictures or videos. So, dismissing the pictures and videos does not dismiss the story.

In fact, the whole picture and video thing is a strawman.

Patches689 brought up "white men in a video", to support his argument.

You should tell him to provide proper evidence, same as you, to proof your wild imaginations.

From the video, the Nigerian military has nothing to hide, neither do we. We have said consistently, Israelis provide support to the military. The video is only another validation of this widely know fact.

The story about south-african mercs have been denied by both the Nigerian and South-African governments.
