Good morning, Cooper is fine today.. Still having issues with his eating habit, he is very picky, eats a little and walks away. He is not loosing weight neither is he adding weight..I think i have to get a scale to check his weight on a daily basis to get his full weight details. I am still looking for a path to improve his eating habit, have done a lot of reading online and i think I have to worry less since he is not completely avoiding food but i have to ascertain the effect on his weight and health.

He is very active and agile which brings more confusion to my head, he eats little but has so much energy. I will be glad to get more suggestions here.

My wife tried raw chicken and it was disastrous, so i am a bit scared trying anything raw for now.. May be will try when he becomes an adult but not as a Puppy.

Yes, after much research i was able to get Cooper eat his royal canine to my satisfaction. I cannot say the method is perfect until repeated trial works out the expected result. What I did was to have a schedule for his exercise, water and food.. I placed his food for him at the schedule time and he has 15mins to finish the business. He ate a little and once the 15mins is up I took the food away & water.

4hrs after was the next schedule and I brought his good & water he ate more compared to his first meal, 15 mins up I took the food away and the water, followed in another 4hrs and he ate more, he kept improving eating more portion and drinking lots of water. Cooper is just a Puppy and should not be expected to eat much at an interval, like. Little baby's little portions at intervals works for him.

Also, because I was concerned about his eating habit I will always leave little portion of food down for him which leads to "snacking" and does not allow him to concentrate on a regular schedule meal. I hope to try this out tomorrow and see how it works. Meanwhile his last meal/water comes by 6pm and last water for the day by 7.30pm.

Cooper after our garden hang out developed a love for this bike... We decided he should ride unfortunately his leg could not get to the pedal. Ooops! sorry Cooper you have to wait a little more.

You are sending a strong message to Cooper that you are the boss, you are in charge of his life. One day you will realize, cooper will finish all his food under 5 mins.

The real danger of raw feeding is that you won't have time to balance the diet, which will cause your puppy not to grow to his full potential.

No Cooper is not my first dog. You really have to see Cooper to love him..., i had two dogs before a Boerboel and Rottweiler, they were massive and voracious but gave them up when i was leaving the country. It`s almost 4yrs i came back but refused to get another one because i don`t really have time. I am much more relaxed now and brought Cooper into my life, he deserves all the attention and care and besides i want him to be a great companion and not just a compound dog, so the great socialization.

No i have not started teaching him because of his poor appetite, i don`t want to add more issues to it.. However, i am so happy he is adapting and eating fine, i mixed K9 Can food for Puppy with his Royal Canine, wow! come and see how Cooper bounced on the food; for the first time he finished a big bowl and was sniffing for more.

I will probably start the obedience class for him by March,Cooper really needs to learn the command "Stop" otherwise he will be a time bomb. I got a collar belt for him today, i think he looks handsome on it, will upload his pics tomorrow.

Thanks for following the thread.

Thanks for following this thread... My dream is to raise Cooper in a lovely manner and help the society in my little way to start treating Dogs with respect and love.

Re: Diary of my Dog Cooper. by deeptesting(m): 6:22pm On Feb 23, 2015
Cooper is doing very fine, fed him fish today and he ate it without issues.
I am happy his eating habit has greatly improved though he is not a heavy eating guy but likes taking it little by little at short intervals.
He is a great guy always wants to chase and play.

Cooper has a great hunting and tracking skill,i hope to train him on trailing and tracking, will be using Marijuana for the training;this will come after he is through with his obedience training which will begin next month. I want him to be a specialist in trailing and tracking marijuana.

So the dead ones were not vaccinated? And the imported ones to?

They were actually vaccinated but not done in due time, the bullmastiff had a shot from SA,I gave her another shot days after her arrival, and she has been due for he last shot for a long time cos she came @ 6wks,I gave her another shot 5days after she arrived.what I normally do is ignore dey ever had a shot overseas and give dem 3shots p 4wks interval,so I assume the 5mths bullmastiff has had only one shot so far while the boerboels too had only one too.
I realised its best not to neglect and do in due time.

Please vaccinate your pets and always use a qualified Vet.

Yes oh
But to be honest I do my vaccines by myself, over the years I have garnered some experience, vets ve killed my dogs in my presence, while some have saved too.
I really don't like taking my pups to the vets for vaccines as dey might contact any disease from other infected dogs that visits the clinic,so I prefer home treatment.I buy my vaccines from reputable sellers and dispose immediately.that way I can be sure of my preservation.

OK nice..I totally agree with you on the home vaccination i don't take my dog to the vet they come home to vaccinate them. However, i do not agree with you on the self medication of your Pets.. Your logic is like saying because a patient died in a hospital you will not visit the doctor any more, you will treat yourself based on your experience.

Remember, i mentioned qualified Vet and not a quack with syringe.. My Vet is always prepared for me because if there is an issue he knows i would have done research on it and i am sure he doesn't want me to lecture him on his job.

I have turned down the services of many Vets because they could not convince me or show a good knowledge on what they claim to practice.

Well I have spent enough time with dogs,as in many dogs over the years,& I'm not guessing, but know exactly most of the symptoms and best approach to handling them, some good breeders should know as much as a good vet.
When you have a dog farm u will be left with no choice but to handle some cases urself, otherwise you just let a vet use ur animals for experimenting,
I use Lagos state vet clinic @ GRA Agege, but they hardly handle home services.

Imagine importing a dog of 350k & above and u sit down and watch a vet experiment with him,I can't ever do that anymore.
My rotts had 9pups,then I really don't have time for my dogs as I was busy running around companies doing computer networks and maintenance, wen D pups were 6wks I noticed the mother stagger while walking and took D dog to the vet that vaccinated the puppies.the vet simply cos he wants to extort me gave several injections I don't know of,another vet came in and asked what the prob with the dog,my vet explained she staggered, the other vets asked what he had given her and was like he should not have given her dis and bla bla bla not knowing the owner of the dog is there, the stupid vet killed my generous rottweiller,I call her generous cos I once watched her and realised wen I feed her in D cage with her puppies, they rush the meal and she gives up,and dey can finish the whole meal, while I thought they still breast feed.so as she might have sacrificed her feed to her pups many times it made her weak and stagger, and the vet should ve administered just drips and multivitamin but instead, simply becos of his selfish interest to extort,he wants me to see him administer many tins so my bill can be higher.
Mechanics, vets and some 9ja apprentice/proffessionals experience with ur property @ ur expense without you even doing anytin bout it.so I have learnt a lot

I understand your concern. When i imported Cooper, my Vet told me we should ignore the story of vaccination given to us by the importers. I went down to do my own research asked questions and came up with my conclusion that it should be vaccinated.

The good thing is not all Vets are unscrupulous we still have professionals and i think i am blessed with one. please can i have your phone number via resilienceguy at gmail.com

Cooper was caught this morning digging in our fun garden. This act under the law of natural conservation in our constitution is punishable by banishing anyone caught in the act from the garden.

Cooper was however showed some leniency as a minor and first time offender hence, his punishment was reduced to been on the leash and garden fun suspended for 24hrs.

Note: Don't forget Cooper was caught on the spot and not been punished after the act was done.
