If you're entitled to lunch break, then use that time to attend the interview. That is if the venue is within the same area. I turn down interviews that are far from me, like going from VI to the mainland. But VI/Ikoyi/Lekki axis for the two times I went for major interviews while changing jobs, I would say I'm going out for lunch. I don't have to tell my biz to the boss. Wisdom is profitable to direct.

One of the times I had a major interview I had taken ill the previous day in the office, not planned at all. Then I got called for the interview. Of course I didn't go to work the next day.

God always makes a way.

Bros, Christianity does not connote stupidity. When God sent Samuel to anoint David, Samuel told God that Saul the King would kill him if he hears he went to anoint David. God told Saul to go to the town where David's family was and say he has come to sacrifice to the Lord. And then use the oppourtunity to anoint David. And it worked. Samuel went, asked all the old men to accompany him to sacrifice to the Lord in the house of Jesse and there he anointed David. I cant even remember if a sacrifice was eventually done.

Point is: Did God lie? No. Did Samuel Lie: No. All you have to do if you have an Interview is to pray to God to make a way for you to be there. When the day comes: Tell your supervisor you have to go and do a transaction in the bank or you have to take your baby brother for a medical check-up. ENSURE you go to the bank and do a transaction or you book a hospital visit for that day.......then go for the interview. When you are asked where you went to.....You went to do a banking transaction and show them the transaction you went to do.

The truth is that if the Job is truly for you, God will make a way and you would find yourself there. You don't need to lie that you are sick or your father died......except you have plans to be truly sick or to kill your father etc.

If anyone thinks this is dishonest or a lie, try asking God how he performed it in 1st Samuel 16 and 17.

BRO U GO LIVE LONG!!! U have answered the question without no doubts.

I applaud your understanding of scriptures and its application. If anyone wants to understand life in order to lead it successfully, they must study the Old Testament of the scriptures as well as the New Testament. Too bad that many preachers have erroneously pushed aside the Old Testament of the Holy Bible for inexplicable reasons.

"Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come" (1Corinthians 10:11). You may begin from verse one for full comprehension.

GOD NEVER TOLD ABRAHAM TO LIE, ALBEIT SARAH WAS HIS SISTER...NOTE THAT GOD'S ANGER WAS KINDLED AGAINST THE
KING AND HE HAD TO DO A RESTITUTION, WHERE ABRAHAM PRAYED FOR HIM TO OBTAIN GOD'S MERCY. STUDY YOUR BIBLE AND
DON'T DEPEND ON WHAT SOMEONE SAID IS IN THE BIBLE...PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.
I'm sure you didn't bother to read the rest of my comments. I didn't blasphem. I just wanted clarification on something. The shouting really was unnecessary.

Take permission to take the day off from your boss or take permission to come late to work in order to attend to some urgent personal issues, you don't usually have to disclose all personal issues so that should be accepted. Reserve your casual leave for days as such so that you don't appear as someone who often take some days off.

It wasn't Samuel who thought of wat to do rather it was God who led him... Let's do d same nd wait on God to tell us wat to do instead of relying on our own reasoning...
God will definitely make a way for HIS children where there's no way!!

It's a simple matter my friend. All you have to do is to simply go for your interview. Send a text message to your immediate superior that you couldn't make it to work due to unavoidable reasons.

Even if you're 'drilled' the following day, just keep emphasizing phrases such as 'reasons beyond my control', 'unavoidable circumstances' etc.

They'll probably get the gist, but they'll have nothing to pin you down with.

Do you remember that Prophet Samuel had to go for a 'dangerous' interview which his boss (Saul) must never hear about? Hope you remember what God asked him to do in order to safely attend the interview. Go and do thou likewise.

Pheew! Thank the universe I'm no Christian or Muslim. I would tell ANY lie I see fit! I'm trying to get a better job to improve my life and career, I aint killing, robbing or rapiƱg anyone!

Telling my boss I'm going for a job interview would dent my relationship with him and the company, what if I don't get the other job?

God helps those who help themselves - I heard that from somewhere..

Please I need opinions and experiences from Christians (or Muslims) who consider and see lying as sin and cannot for any reason (even a Shell interview) compromise their faith.

Last year I have had to turn down two invites because I had no means of honouring it. I applied for one and I was poached for the other. Though I did not reschedule the later because I didn't want it. But in scenarios like these, what should a faithful Christian do?

As much as you don't want to lie, you don't want to tell your boss you're going for an interview either; that might be an invitation for a sack, and rightfully so. Wisdom is profitable to direct. Tell them you have a family emergency to attend to....and trust me, your family considers yout getting a better paying job an emergency!
